I can't lie. Brill location, super central. HOWEVER! That's where the good ends and the madness begins... (Copy and pasted from my removed review on trip advisor 😕) don't let them silence being outted for their incredibly dodgy behaviour... Durty Nellys 1,547 reviews 1 ★ 🚫 AVOID, the security will give the master key to their friends to let them into Ur room to 'clean' at 3am. Tried to tell me it was normal for this to happen in hostels, I've stayed all over Amsterdam and even other hostels in other parts of the world... They don't clean when you're asleep, don't let them convince you this is normal, I should have called the police but didn't want to ruins my friends holiday. Also, I was threatened with being kicked out and having the Dutch police called on me because I got angry at the security for giving the ”cleaner” a key to our room for him to come in, clean nothing and then leave. The old security guy was actually asleep at his desk watching YouTube videos when I did go down to question him in anger. So please be warned. They're running an unusual game at Durty Nelly's, don't trust them, even the seemingly nice owner tried to convince me in the morning that I was in the wrong for questioning why there was a man in my room at 3:37am. Tbh they're probably all in on it and split the profit. So if you're reading this and are considering staying here please don't you'll likely regret it. and if you're reading this and you work at Durty Nelly's, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting this happen... EDIT: They do NOT want you to see this... they flagged and removed this review because of 'profanity' yet I didn't swear once. EDIT edit: it was removed for a third time... Gunna use chatgpt to keep rewriting this until Google /duttynellys accepts. EDIT (After their reply): Funny how you weren't willing to discuss it with me in person but now months and months later you're completely available to talk about how insane your cleaning schedule is... And it's also funny how in your own words, for a 2nd time now ”Race and discrimination” is being mentioned. I didn't mention once about the dudes race, and I obviously wouldn't give a damn about where he's from... He shouldn't be in my room whilst my friends are sleeping at 3:30am, that IS irregular. And to claim that's how hostels do it is just a straight out lie. You're so obviously just liers trying to cover yourselves because you clearly profit off of the things your staff steal for you. It's honestly so telling that you mentioned any of that, trying to make me look like a racist or something, it's actually laughable. The old man head of security tried to do exactly the same thing when I went downstairs at roughly 4:00am unable to sleep asking: ”Why would you give ANYONE the master security key card at 3:30am?” It was one of the initial reasons for my suspicion that this happens regularly and that I wasn't the first to come to you with my concerns... Please PLEASE reply again with some more non

The hotel is spot on for location, but the rooms smelled really bad, so did the bathroom. The shower also leaked everywhere on our last day. We stayed here for 3 nights... I think if you are staying for around 1 night that is fine. You are unable to fully open the windows to air the room out and it was also red hot. Stains on the floor. Very noisy in the morning, you are woken up by lots of banging, lorries etc. We was also on the 5th floor. Woke me up every morning still. The beds are very comfy though. I just could not get past the smell unfortunately. Very musky, out-dated hotel. I would not stay here again. Sorry. I literally walked out of the hotel every day thinking that I smelt of that hotel room, even after showering. Still feel sick at the though. I beg you please avoid!

Stayed here at the end of April for the recent Metallica concerts with a friend. The location was perfect - a five minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal station - and we were pleasantly surprised considering some of the reviews on here. While we only really used it as a base, the reception staff were extremely friendly and we were checked in quickly. Our room was on the second floor and while it had a window, the view was of the next building. No big deal. The room itself looked nothing like some of the pictures previously posted. It was modern, clean, and perfect for two big lads. The bathroom had hot water no matter what time of day and fresh towels every day. The room also has air con and heating and we used both due to the mixed weather while we were there. The breakfast was a buffet style and more than adequate to see you through the morning and most of the early afternoon with a choice of continental and/or English breakfast. A huge thanks to the night receptionist on our last day who whipped something up for us even though we had to check out earlier than the 8am breakfast start time. Considering it's position in the Old Quarter it wasn't as noisy as some previous reviews have suggested - maybe we just got lucky! The staff at The Old Quarter are really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We loved the train style seating and it's closeness to the brilliant local bars and transport hubs - to get from the hotel to our actual seats at Ajax's ground took 50 minutes from door to door! Brilliant experience and we will definitely consider Hotel Old Quarter next time we are in Amsterdam. Thanks guys and see you soon! (Mark and Tony, Manchester, UK)

We had a triple room during our stay; it was quiet, clean and perfect for our 4 nights in Amsterdam. It felt safe and perfect as our base. Clean towels and housekeeping every day. Staff at reception very helpful. Highly recommend. It's not very modern but it's clean and the location is 4 star! Didn't eat so can't comment on breakfast. Left luggage room would have felt better if it had a lock.

Yesterday night we stayed at Di Ann Hotel in Amsterdam just for one night. We paid a total of 192 euros, not the cheapest hotel in the area and disappointment cannot even begin to describe what we felt. When we arrived at the hotel room we were disgusted by the filth that there was present. Bed covers were dirty and had a wet feeling when you touched them, the duvet was covered in big staying, there was only one plug available and the room looked nothing like the picture. What is more, the room was covered in dust and soundproofing was not even in the plans for them. To give you a better vibe think of a creepy motel in the middle of nowhere. To add to this disaster the window that was facing the road was so thin that you felt like you were sleeping on the side of the road. Correct me if I am wrong but hotels are supposed to provide the necessities for your stay, towels, and toilet paper, well this one didn't have any. I have been working in the hotel industry for a few years now and I have been traveling from a very young age. The only thing I can say is that I have stayed in a cabin in the ASmaxon forest and not only was it cleaner and we actually enjoyed our stay it was also way cheaper. When I said to the receptionist all of my problems they just told me they will pass it along. I don't think it's going to lead somewhere, in my opinion, this place has to be closed down its a matter of public health, and calling it a scam is very generous.

The hotel was great. Very good quality of the equipment. But the services from the Reception was very unkind. The online booking was not great because they announced in Booking website they are not charge the credit card before the the date of the arrival. But they have tried a lot of time to charge my credit card during more than 1 week then they blocked my bank account because my bank though a tentative of fraud. I paid my bank to unblock and made a new credit card. They said it was to save the room... So they are not really in phase with the information giving on their profile in Booking.com. After that, at our arrival, they tried to charge more than expected my reservation (the amount they blocked in my credit card + the full amount of my entire reservation so more than 420 Euros)

I chose this hôtel as I was travelling from the UK to see Dépêche Mode at the Ziggo Dome. And stayed two nights. Jaz in the City is just steps away from the Ziggo entrance so you can’t get any closer! It’s also great as a base for Amsterdam sightseeing. From the airport there’s a direct train (hotel is a 10-15 min walk from Bijlmer ArenA station). You can also hop on the metro here for a 20 min ride to Centraal. As Amsterdams public transport is so good (compared to Bristol in the UK where I live) you can confidently rely on it to get you wherever you need to be efficiently! Staff at the hotel are super friendly and helpful. From front desk, bar, restaurant and housekeeping. Everyone (thankfully) spoke English which is ideal for me as I can just about say hello and thank you in Dutch! Special shout out to Mr Omelette Maker at breakfast. The perfect start to a day of sightseeing!! I’m sure they’re are cheaper options but I’m of an age where I understand that you get what you pay for. This hotel in my opinion is great. It looks good, is super clean and well maintained and importantly <feels> good.

GGuest UserI couldn't be more pleased with this hostel! I highly recommend it. The hostel, including bathrooms and showers, was very clean. The beds were super cozy and comfortable and offered some privacy. Staff was super sweet and helpful. Bonus points that the lobby always smelled like toast or freshly baked cookies! Also, the bike rental service was fantastic. One suggestion for improvement is that it would have been nice to have some wall hangers in the room. Since there were none, people resorted to hanging stuff from the bed ladders or just putting it on the floor.

GGuest UserTrust me you will not be disappointed. The hotel is clean and modern. The hospitality is beyond amazing. The friendliest front desk that is available 24/7. Location is spot on. Train station, including busses, metro etc across the road and no more than a 5 minute walk. Was 1 stop to get into the centre of Amsterdam and very easy to navigate the public transport to venture into different neighborhoods as well. Hands down I will recommend hotel2stay to everyone heading to Amsterdam ! Thank you so much to all the staff that made our stay so pleasurable.

GGuest UserHotel was great for the price you pay. The rooms are tiny (barely enough room to open a suitcase) and although situated conveniently next to a metro station is in the middle of nowhere but again, you get what you pay for and the lobby, gym and communal areas are well designed and well kept. If you don’t mind a 15/20min Metro travel to Amsterdam Centraal you wouldn’t mind it here I give the hotel 2 stars because I accidentally left my Apple Airpod headphones in the lobby area the day I checked out to visit another hotel in Amsterdam, although when I called Hotel Leonardo that same night to ask them if they’d been handed in I was told they hadn’t. I travelled down to the hotel the next morning to be told the same thing, that there were no headphones that had been handed in but they asked for my name and previous room number so they could contact me should they turn up. Luckily I was able to make my lost AirPods make a sound (findmyiphone feature you can activate when you lose a device) and I could hear them beeping behind the front desk so I told the receptionist that I knew they were behind the desk and she eventually handed them over. I firmly believe the hotel staff were trying to keep my misplaced AirPods headphones and if I had not been able to make the sound from the Airpods they would have pocketed them

GGuest UserOh my, I loved staying at BUNK Hotel Amsterdam. I was first attracted by the good reviews of this young hostel/hotel hybrid, booked it far enough in advance for an early bird discount, and just a couple of days into my seven day stay, I realized I'd truly gotten a great deal. BUNK Amsterdam is fantastic! Ugh, where to start? I rented a pod, which is in a large room containing about 50 pods. Pods are preferable to bunk beds or other kinds of barrack-style hostels. There is privacy, there is enough space for you to get comfortable, change your clothes, the mattress is fine, the blanket and pillow are very cushy and cozy, the curtain is thick and heavy. The lighting situation inside the pod is unique, one of those switches with a lot of color and tone options, so you can really light the pod to your mood. I slept very well considering I was in a room with 30-50 other people at any given time. You also get a private locker beneath your pod that can fit a suitcase and a backpack with relative ease, unless you've overpacked. The bathroom is non-gendered, all the stalls are very clean and private. As a guy, it felt weird to use the bathroom while women were in it, so I blasted music in my earbuds to tune the world out while I did my business, ha. The showers are in a separate room and also very private. The water pressure is great and the showerheads are waterfall style. They have towels available at all hours. If you don't see any on the rack, just ask and there they shall be. The biggest surprise for me here was the restaurant. The restaurant attached to BUNK is basically a 4-star restaurant with 2-star prices. They have a full bar with well-priced drinks and very skilled, very handsome bartenders/baristas who can craft a wide arrays of cocktails. The chefs are also highly skilled, and the servers are attentive and kind. The menu is diverse, ranging from avocado toast to an interesting Indonesia beef stew-like dish that I can only describe as mind-blowingly delicious. They also featured a ”taco” that was very tasty despite really not being a taco at all. My favorite breakfast (and perhaps favorite overall meal) was their Eggs Bennie with fresh smoked salmon. For dessert, on multiple occasions I ordered their popular Snickers dessert, which was peanut ice cream with caramel and shards of chocolate and brittle. I meant to do more foodie tourism during my week in Amsterdam, but the food was so good I wound up taking a good percentage of my meals in the BUNK restaurant. I snapped some pictures of the food I mentioned; it should go without saying that I am not a pro photographer. The front desk is manned (or womaned) 24/7, so anytime there was an issue or I had a question, someone was available. They are very attentive with regards to customer service. I should also note with their keycard system and network of entrances and hallways, I felt very safe. They care about security there and take proper, non-intrusive methods to make sure everyone is comfortable. I should also mention the facility is just beautiful. It's built within a very old church, there is a library, plants everywhere, a calming vibe throughout, and a quiet room for work or study. BUNK is located in the North section of Amsterdam (Noord). Noord is the quieter part of Amsterdam, suburb feeling as opposed to the city vibe elsewhere. It's extremely easy to get to the Central area from here though. There is a ferry about a 10 minute walk away that takes you to the central area, as well as a tram a five minute walk away that takes you directly to Centraal Station. I really hit a home run choosing this place, BUNK Amsterdam truly delivered the goods. Great building, great amenities, great staff, great restaurant, great location. I would recommend this to anyone traveling solo or as a couple/small group. Very small group. It's great to stay for a couple of days or a whole week. I loved my experience here and would stay again if/when I return to Amsterdam. Great place.

GGuest UserAfter our Viking Rhine Cruise ended in Amsterdam, we planned to stay the night to check out the city. This hotel had the right combination of price, location, and amenities. We chose one of the 2nd floor suits which included a balcony for smoking. The room was located above the side street which was lined with sycamore trees so the balcony was screened by the branches—it was lovely. Noise level was not bad since this was not the tourist sector but it was still the city so it wasn’t quiet or dark. The room was spacious especially the bathroom. From the hotel we walked to the old city and passed several canals along the way. We didn’t wind up eating at the hotel but we did order from the bar and the bartender was friendly. The staff was friendly and called a cab for us in the morning to get to the airport. Would stay here again.

Very Good
GGuest UserStayed here one night on IHG rewards points as a platinum member. Reception staff were super friendly, efficient and professional. The room was excellent on the 12th floor with great corner window views. Breakfast also good. I’d say this was one of the best express stays I’ve had. Sometimes this brand can be fairly low on the quality scale but this location is fantastic. Also, the let me store my bike in the luggage room of the holiday inn below.

GGuest UserOverall experience wasn't bad. No AC so be mindful if booking during summers with rising heatwaves. The hotel itself is a labyrinth to access which is annoying for accessibility. Check in is said to happen ahead via email but it in fact still takes up much time in person. Mostly recommend young folks working just above a hostel budget. But I was very satisfied with the location as Amsterdam central can be too chaotic. And the employees were really lovely. Especially bar folks. It's bustling with people and music so definitely more of a young crowd/artsy vibe.

GGuest UserThis hotel was firstly picked due to previous reviews, location and price. So everything was good here. All the staff we met were good friendly people, well done. We had a room for 3 persons that was situated at the back of the hotel, nice and quiet away from the road noise. Room was 114. A decent size with 3 single beds, and a Nespresso machine!, brilliant. room was clean and tidy and towels were changed every day even though we tried to save them. Didn't eat here so can commit. We had an opening window into a wooded area, that was good to see the parrots flying around, however a bit of a mess outside and someone has left their shovel!. We used the bus from the airport that stops just around the corner from this hotel, and costs around £6.50 a single journey. So really handy to get there. The hotel is a short walk from the main areas, so a good plus point. Would I stay at this hotel again, and recommend for the reasons I picked it? YES

LLeeAccommodation right across the street from Heineken. Location is good. The city museum and the Van Gogh museum are close, so it's easy to walk around. It's far from the train station, but you can get there in 10 minutes by subway. The accommodation is definitely old and has some old parts, but considering the price, it is satisfactory. I used a small single room, but the bedding was dirty, the bed lights were not on, and I could hear the hallway sound well, so I knocked on the next room and knew it was my room. However, the view outside the window was good, the bathroom was clean, and above all, the advantage of being able to use a room alone at the price of a shared dormitory accommodation. There is also a vending machine on the first floor, and you can use a microwave. Luggage storage before and after check-in. Although it is a closet, it is not a locked space, so you cannot leave valuables in it. And the biggest advantage is having a cat. It's a complete doggie, so if you pet it, it will lie flat on its back. I want to go see the cat again.
