We stayed in the Laurel wing of the hotel in a ”partial” harbour view room with a standing balcony. Although 2 small chairs could be put on the balcony to make it more user friendly there is no patio furniture. The view was very nice & the room was clean. However, the laurel wing is certainly looking it's age. Worn & damaged baseboards in the hallways, worn carpet & the decor & furniture in the rooms are outdated. Some maintenance of the lighting & drains were needed. Shower/tub was small, cramped & dark. There is a small mini fridge & a Nespresso maker (for very small cups of coffee) but no microwave. The room was supposed to have a kettle but we had to ask for one as none was in the room. Our bed was comfortable. Housekeeping is only every 2 days & we were told that when we checked in. We didn't ask for an adjoining room & weren't told we had one. We don't care for these types of rooms due to noise. And noise there was. Lots of noise. Kids running in the hallways like it was a race track, people talking loudly, slamming doors, etc. If we wanted a slightly better room with more of a harbour view or a balcony with furniture we would have had to pay substantially more money. Everything seemed to be an additional cost at this hotel. Only water from a dispenser was free. Even a piece of fruit had a cost. The restaurant looked very nice & there is a wonderful patio area attached to it. However, prices were outrageous which prevented us from eating there. A small burger with no side was $20. There is no coffee shop to get a take out coffee or small meal. There are a few food & drink items at a kiosk by the desk that you pay for. There is a pathway that you can walk to Fisherman's Wharf & also to the downtown. Both were wonderful to walk on. It is a short walk to downtown as the hotel is outside of the main part. The staff were friendly & helpful. However we were told nothing about the amenities of the hotel when we checked in such as how to connect to wifi, where the pool was, that there is a sitting area outside the conference rooms, etc. It was on our bucket list to stay at this hotel for years. We finally took a big breath & decided to pay the price which in my opinion is too high for what you get. Because of that, regretfully we won't likely return.

JJustin T 2024.08.20
I stayed at Hotel Rialto in early July, and my experience was both disturbing and disappointing. On the first morning, I woke up with unexplained bug bites. Since I was only staying for two nights and had never experienced bites like this before, I didn’t report it to the front desk at the time. After returning home, I discovered bed bugs in my luggage. I captured one, had it tested, and confirmed it was indeed a bed bug. The bites I experienced during my stay strongly suggest that the infestation originated from the hotel. I emailed the hotel’s manager, Victoria, who did respond promptly by hiring a pest control company to do an inspection. While the inspection didn’t find any bed bugs, what it did reveal was far more concerning. The pest control company discovered oranges under the counter attracting odorous house ants and potentially mice. They also found mice droppings and a nest just outside the dry storage area. In the dry storage/elevator room, they noted panko crumbs and a bag of flour sitting out. While these items haven’t been compromised yet, it’s only a matter of time, given the presence of mice droppings on all the shelves. Most alarming was the discovery involving the curtains in the lounge on the Douglas Street side. Both sides of the curtains had been chewed, and nests were found inside them. The pest control company indicated that this problem has likely been ongoing for more than a year, given the amount of sebum from the mice fur on the floor beneath the curtains. Apparently, these curtains haven’t been opened in years, making them an undisturbed haven for rodents. The pest control company flagged this situation as urgent, yet it’s unclear what steps, if any, have been taken to resolve it. I now regret not reporting the bites earlier, but I was genuinely unaware of what they were at the time. I have photos of the bites and a lab report confirming the presence of bed bugs, which I’m willing to share to warn other travelers. While I appreciate Victoria's prompt response in hiring a pest control company, the issues uncovered during the inspection are simply unacceptable. These conditions point to serious ongoing hygiene and maintenance failures that no reputable hotel should have. Guests deserve a clean, safe environment, and I strongly urge management to take immediate action to address these critical concerns and take care of customers when they do have an issue.

I have stayed here twice. The price/performance ratio is quite good. The room size is suitable and it is not crowded for a family of three. The food in the hotel's own restaurant is quite good and the environment is nice. It is also a good experience to sit by the window and eat while watching the scenery on the road.

There were no amenities such as slippers and toothbrushes. Dishes, glasses, detergent, etc. will make you feel comfortable even during your long stay. There is also a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and oven. The room was large and had a table and closet, so it was spacious enough for multiple people to use. It was about a 10 minute walk from the bus stop to the ferry port, and there were no hills and access was good.

Invincible sea view, sea view, living room, room and balcony, especially sitting on the balcony to watch the sunset is very freehand. The transportation is very convenient, it is convenient in the city center, and the two-bedroom suite is fully equipped! Opposite the hotel is a lot of choices for restaurants, parking is free, but you need to check the card after you check in to enter the garage. Overall very good physical examination.

Victoria's more convenient hotel, the parking lot is on the side of the road. When you check in, you will be told where you are, one of the older hotels, a family-run hotel, a bar, and you are seen in the early hours of the business. There is no room in the room. Sound, but the room is small, the facilities are very old, the breakfast is not much, but the decoration is very interesting

We recently stayed for 3 nights at Abigail’s Hotel. One of the nicest and friendliest hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Little touches throughout are so perfect and well thought out. The staff are so warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is delightful and decorated in such a wonderful way. The rooms are so spacious and comfortable. It’s just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Victoria and in a perfect spot. Whenever we come back to Victoria this is the only place we’ll stay. Dashwood Manor has the perfect location. Both the ocean and Beacon Hill Park. On arrival We were unable to get into the property as having booked with an agent we were not given the code for the front door and after 4pm there were no Dashwood staff on duty. The out of hour's telephone number did not work. 40 mins later a fellow guest let us in and there in the lobby was an envelope with our name and keys . Zero staff after 4pm is a serious pitfall at this guesthouse. Any problems/ queries will remain unsolved or unanswered at least until the next morning. The breakfast staff were helpful and kind . It was NOT explained to us at the time of booking that there were no menu choices at breakfast. Sweet syrupy pancakes were not at one with my dietary requirements. I explained this to the staff and they immediately gave me alternatives for the rest of our stay . The grounds and interiors of this historic house are rundown. Dilapidated furniture, Guest directory in the bedroom has pages falling out, dirty bathroom blinds, hairs on the loo brush holder and the bedroom door took time to lock! The owners of this property- All Fortune Consulting LTD need to show leadership and to financially invest in this former Victorian beauty.

GGuest UserThis is such a fun hotel! It’s near some busy roads, a mall, and a bunch of restaurants and such, which I guess is nice, but it’s pretty noisy and you’re not going to get a great view from your room or anything. BUT! Where to start? The rooms are clean. My kids and I loved the comic book, stickers, yo-yo, and rotary phone in our room. The hot tub is a little small, but guess what? You can soak in it and keep an eye on your kiddos as they enjoy the indoor/outdoor pool and water slide! Inside the lobby, you can find myriad board games, ping pong, “bowling,” Wii, and even old school typewriters in which you can pluck out that novel you’ve been keeping in the back of your head. The lobby Coffee is better than any in-room coffee another hotel might offer. And speaking of the lobby, the staff here is 110%! I got what I thought was an automated text asking how my state was so far. I said “meh” because we had just checked in and I wasn’t impressed with the area. I got a response from a real person right away! She provided answers to my questions and concerns and even delivered earplugs and silverware and cups to my room later when I needed them! When I was teaching my kiddo how to use a typewriter, the front desk staff didn’t hover over us or anything, just let us do our thing. Last, the little restaurant (open for breakfast and lunch) has a killer breakfast menu and such friendly staff!

GGuest UserThe location and price are certainly what makes this hotel most attractive. Upon checking in, we were greeted by two extremely competent and kind staff members. This was a theme throughout the stay: staff was always around and ready to help whenever needed! The hotel itself is exactly what the other reviews and images show; it is an old hotel with some minor cosmetic renovations. The hotel was clean, but it was a bit rough around the edges. For example, there was no usable AC in our room; instead, our room had a small oscillating fan sitting on the TV stand. The towel rack in the bathroom was literally ripped off the wall and hanging by a thread. Do not expect a luxury stay, but do expect kind staff and a great location.

We expected more from this hotel. It seems to be located in a really rough area of Victoria, walking back to the hotel past 9pm was really quite scary. I would suggest that this would not be a good place to stay for any lone traveller. We didn’t think that the room was particularly clean, especially when we found underwear that didn’t belong to any member of our party on the sideboard. When we called reception about this we got a particularly unhelpful response. The hotel seemed to come alive post 10pm when all that could be heard was screaming children and adults. As seasoned travellers none of us felt particularly safe staying here.

In fact, the sanitary conditions of the hotel are still good, but the hotel is relatively old, but the room is still relatively large, the two beds are quite large, if you are not picky about staying 4 people is also very easy. The facilities are quite complete, and there is a small kitchen for cooking. The front desk service is good and there is a parking lot. The advantage of the hotel is away from the port, city hall, Chinatown, Biganshan Park (the starting point of Canada’s famous Highway 1 is here, the park is very large and beautiful), and it is also far from Craig Darok Castle Not far. Personally, I think it's a good place to rest during the trip, and it's also cost-effective abroad.
