I have stayed at The Court before and really liked it, especially because of the location – it’s very convenient and central. However, I feel the recent changes have made the experience less enjoyable.
The space is now smaller, and unfortunately, the kitchen has been removed. There used to be areas where you could cook, eat, and hang out with other guests, which made the place feel more social and flexible. Now, that is no longer available.
It’s also not allowed to eat inside the rooms, so if you don’t want to order from their kitchen, there aren’t many options left. For me, this was disappointing because one of the best parts before was the freedom to prepare your own food and enjoy it in a shared space.
Overall, the location is still great, but the new rules and reduced facilities make the stay less comfortable than it used to be.

Super recommend!!! It was truly clean, modern, comfortable, convenient and everything was there that you will need. It was really amazing place to stay. I wish I could stay longer if I don’t have any plan after this. Bath amenities were also provided, kitchen had everything, washing and drying machines was good. If you open the drawer of mirror-desk, you can find the guide book.
This place is the best to stay in Edinburgh.
Thank you so much Holyrood apart hotel

We recently stayed at Novotel Edinburgh for our first wedding anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so special, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.
The room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean, with a stunning view of the city. The hotel even surprised us with a lovely anniversary treat, which was such a thoughtful touch. The breakfast buffet was excellent, offering a wide variety of fresh and delicious options.
The location was ideal—close to all the main attractions, yet peaceful enough for a relaxing stay. We also enjoyed the hotel’s facilities, especially the pool and bar area, which added to the overall luxury of our trip.
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you, Novotel Edinburgh, for making our special occasion truly memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

The service was great and the security is good as you need to scan the card to access the hotel entrance and elevator. The room was great (big and clean). The location is suitable for travelers who need to use train just 5-7 minutes walk from waverley.

In principle, not everything so bad, waiting was worse. Even managed to sleep. At 2:00 a.m. somebody came and woke up with his noise, nobody was insured against it

The hotel is in a good location, located in the old city, about 15 minutes walk from the airport bus stop. Because the fly in the ointment is that you need to push your luggage up the slope. If you don't have much luggage, you can take the stairs to reach it.
The room has a kitchenette suitable for buying fast-cooked meals at the supermarket. The tableware and dishwashing equipment are complete and no passengers need to bring their own.
The front desk is 10 points friendly and complete.
However, if you want to consider storing luggage, the hotel said that luggage during the peak August period cannot be stored for more than a day. We participated in the five-day local group in the Scottish Highlands. We stayed at this hotel for large luggage before and after the day, but it was possible to not accept luggage storage for more than one day during the peak August period, so you should pay attention or email the hotel in advance.

This hotel is fantastic! Located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, it's within easy walking distance of everything. The Old and New Elephant Café, just outside the door, is a must-see for Harry Potter fans. There's also a Chinese restaurant, which will delight those with Chinese tastes. The hotel has a vibrant design, with a retro mid-century red accent that brightens up the gloomy Edinburgh. The red King of Hearts design on the room card is also eye-catching. I asked about it when I checked out, and they even gave me one as a souvenir.
I was surprised to learn that the hotel even replaces the shower heads for guests—a first for me. The complimentary glass bottles of water each day are another thoughtful touch.

1118080****The hotel is perfectly situated right on the Royal Mile – the location is absolutely superb! It's just an 8-minute walk from the train station. Be aware that there are some steps along the route, which might be a bit of a workout if you're carrying heavy suitcases.
It's a very family-friendly hotel. The bedroom has a large bed, and the living room sofa converts into a double bed, comfortably accommodating two adults and two children. Our room was incredibly clean, newly renovated, and surprisingly quiet. Even though the Royal Mile is bustling with street performers and activities, we couldn't hear any noise from our room at all.
Having amenities like a washing machine and oven in the room was a huge plus. Just a note: toothpaste, toothbrushes, and slippers aren't provided as standard. We brought our own dental kit, so we only needed to ask the front desk for slippers.
Breakfast is served à la carte; you order what you like, and top-ups are available if you're still hungry. Edinburgh Castle is a mere 5-minute walk to the right from the hotel's entrance, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby – incredibly convenient!

AAnna E AdamsFantastic location being so close to the Castle, old and new town. Rooms are beautifully designed, clean and cosy. It’s so handy having a kitchen in the room to self cater when needed. We’ve loved visiting Edinburgh and will definitely book to stay here again.

GGuest UserI stayed in this hotel for 3 days. When i arrived we were given a noisy connecting room facing the construction site.I could hear people speaking from the next room clearly and they were really noisy as well. The Front office guy manager helped us check-in.Next day there was a very nice lady named Andrrea (sorry if i spelled it wrong)she helped us move to this beautiful room with the view. She was very helpful and always smiling.Breakfast was really nice. But the only thing i am disappointed with is that there were no toothbrush and slippers in the room. The Housekeeping team only cleaned our room but didn’t refill any amenities like water, toilet rolls, coffee, milk and even the hand towel from the bathroom so i had to ask for everything when i came back to my room. Its quite embarrassing for me to ask for these myself tbh.I would love to see Andrrea again when come back.

FFangaodexingkongThe location of the hotel is invincible (the house in the lower right corner of the second picture). Turn right after exiting the Market Street exit of the train station and walk for one minute. You don’t have to worry about carrying large luggage. When you cross the road, you will see Prince Street Park and Waverley Bridge (where the photo was taken). After crossing the bridge, you will see Prince Street. Turn right and walk for 15 minutes to Calton Hill. Turn right and walk for 3 minutes to the Royal Mile. There are many restaurants along the way. It is very close to the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, and the Art Museum. The staff’s service is very good. When they meet people from non-English speaking countries, they will communicate with guests at a very slow speed. It is also very convenient to store luggage. There is also an airport bus at the door of the hotel.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location near the train station is a huge plus, making transport incredibly convenient. We received attentive service, and the breakfast was quite good. However, Google Maps gave misleading directions, which led me to carry my luggage up five flights of stairs. It turns out there's an elevator, but it's not clearly marked with the hotel's logo, making it challenging for first-time visitors to find.

AAngelWong2010Typical Holiday Inn setup: a double sofa bed and a queen-size bed, comfortable enough for four people. Breakfast is complimentary for kids of all ages, but it's quite simple – think bread, milk, fruit, sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, roasted tomatoes, and baked beans. It'll definitely fill you up, but it's not exactly a culinary delight. Edinburgh is notoriously expensive this time of year, so the price was pretty much to be expected. Luckily, the hotel boasts a very convenient location, putting most major attractions within walking distance. The area felt incredibly safe.

11391674****There is nothing to say about the location, the Royal Mile is just outside the door, and it is also very close to the train station. I don't know if it's because it just happened to be in time for the Edinburgh International Art Festival. The cleaning on the first day was missed, and the room facilities are relatively old and smelly. But it still doesn't affect our love for Edinburgh. I really hope that we are still in Edinburgh every day when we open our eyes!

HHunnyExploreI stayed at A&O Edinburgh Hostel during my trip to Edinburgh and had a solid experience overall. The location is excellent — right in the city center, within walking distance of the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and plenty of pubs and restaurants.
The hostel itself is clean, and relaxing after a day of exploring. The staff were helpful and friendly, but it took a while to check-in.
Rooms were basic but comfortable, especially considering the affordable price. Bathrooms were shared but well-maintained.
If you’re a budget traveler looking for a central, convenient place to stay in Edinburgh without fuss, A&O is a good choice. Just be prepared for the usual hostel vibe—shared spaces and some noise.
Would definitely consider staying here again!

GGuest UserPros: Great location, within easy walking distance to most Edinburgh attractions, such as Edinburgh castle, royal mile, princess street, Beverly station, grass market and so on. Friendly staff, relatively new building and facilities.
Cons: the room cannot be ventilated as the window is fixed. My room was very smelly, smells like dogs.
