This hotel is conveniently located near the city's train station. It has a front desk and luggage storage (for a fee of £3 per piece). Check-in time is 2 PM, and check-out time is 10 AM. The hotel is apartment-style, with spacious and clean rooms, each equipped with a kitchen, kettle, refrigerator, microwave, and tableware. However, there is no elevator, and the toilet and bathroom are located in the hallway. The front desk service is not very friendly to Chinese guests. If you don't mind the type of hotel when traveling to Edinburgh, this hotel is a good option.

The room was clean, and although the facilities felt a bit dated, they perfectly fit the Holiday Inn style. Situated next to a church, the soundproofing must have been excellent, as it was very quiet at night. Most of the staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was quite good. Excellent location. They even allowed for an early check-in as soon as a room was available.

Spent one night solo at St Christopher’s in the centre of Edinburgh and it did exactly what I needed: a safe, social, great-location base for exploring.
Location-wise, it’s hard to beat — super central and walkable to the Old Town sights, shops, cafés, and transport, which made it perfect for a short stay. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated the friendly, lively vibe. There were plenty of people around, and it felt easy to chat in the common areas without it being awkward.
The room was basic but fine for a night: comfortable enough, decent storage, and it felt secure. Bathrooms were generally okay (hostel-style—expect busy times), and the overall place felt well run. The only real downside is that, because it’s central and social, it can get a bit noisy, especially later in the evening—earplugs are a good idea if you’re a light sleeper.
Overall, great value for a one-night solo stay in central Edinburgh.
Tip: bring earplugs + a small padlock, and check in a little earlier if you want a calmer bunk/room choice.

It was 850meter walk upon arrival at Edinburgh Waverley train station.
Through slopes, stairs and uneven roads.
Heavy luhgage is strongly not recommended.
Fast check in and check out.
Great amenities with clean kitchen full with amenities.
Toilet a bit small and could be dirty at times.
No lifts so have to carry luggage all the way up to 3rs floor.
Beds are comfy and clean.
As it's bunk bed, so it could be quite disturbing when the other is moving inconsiderably vigorously.

When we arrived our room was ready an hour early which was a good start and it only got better. The staff where all very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast had a great selection and was kept well filled, the swimming pool although not huge was never busy but it was January and it pleasantly warm. Overall a lovely hotel in a great location only 15 mins walk from Princess street and about 10mins from Edinburgh Castle. We had a lovely stay and would stay there again.

Room has no air con, and many steps up the lobby. Many basic amenities cost money (such as slippers)
, parking additional charge at £10/nights
Locations is good, Victoria street literally just outside of the hotel.
Endinburgh Castle view is available from the main entrance of the hotel.

Mixed experience – not quite 4-star quality for the price
I recently stayed at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel and, unfortunately, had to request a room change upon arrival. The first room didn’t feel like what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel, especially at nearly £200 per night. It was very basic—no carpet, no robe, and no slippers. The room felt empty, more like a budget option than a premium stay.
We were moved to another room, which did have a carpet, but it was essentially the same situation—still no slippers or robe etc.
That said, there were a few positives: the location is great, the breakfast was really nice, and the pool itself was a good facility.
Overall, I might stay here again, but only if the price reflects the actual experience. At this rate, I expected a bit more attention to detail and comfort.

A last minute booking as my flight was delayed and couldn’t make connecting train, everything was fine, bottom bunk a little short on headroom but fine for sleeping, everything clean but energy saving toilets often didn’t flush but thats just down to water power, Perfect location could’ve better placed with its own bar and 5 mins walk to train station and city centre

The city view room was spacious and had good amenities.
The hotel breakfast was simple.

Great location in the heart of the Grassmarket with everything close by. The hotel sits a little low so there is no real view of the castle, but the convenience of the area more than makes up for it.
Amenities were good and thoughtfully put together. The little rubber duck for bath time was a charming touch and the room itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped.
I really appreciated the hotel’s sustainability approach, especially the way they manage water use. It is encouraging to see a hotel taking practical steps to reduce its environmental impact.
Overall, a comfortable stay in a brilliant central spot with some lovely small touches.

Great
LleonconnieThe room was incredibly spacious, with a separate living room. I'd definitely want to stay here long-term if I visit Scotland again. The room was very quiet, and the living room sofa converts into a bed. All the appliances were high-end brands like Dyson and Smeg. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. There's an NCP car park under the bridge a bit further down, costing around £25 per night. The hotel is very close to the castle, about a 5-minute walk, and about 10 minutes from the city center. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.

CCleo.C.Ideal location within budget
I used to study in Edinburgh uni and my student hall is right opposite - that’s why we chose here
The value is pretty good but I won’t give it 10/10 Here are the reasons
1. The towels have fluff coming out all the time
2. Bathroom hand wash sink doesn’t go down properly
3. Shower pressure fairly low
4!! The WiFi!! There’s barely any connection within our room. The 5G got down to 4G on 1-2 bar so even we use our own data is very slow…
The wifi gets way better in the Lobby and in public corridors but who wants to chill in the lobby after a whole day of walking…
My husband got severe dry eye symptoms at the end of the trip (it may not have something to do with the hotel but he wakes up every single night)
The hotel has very good amenities that benefits every member who stays. but within the room i can always figure out something that doesn’t match up the 4star hotel standard things.

MM514219****The room was very clean, and the location couldn't be better. It's practically right next to Market Street Station – just a short walk to the left after you exit. The back door leads directly to the Royal Mile, and the front door, after crossing the station, takes you straight to Princes Street. All the classic sights are within walking distance.
The only minor complaint is that there's ongoing renovation work on the building behind, and we were assigned a second-floor room facing that side. There was a possibility of being woken up by noise every morning.
Next time I stay, I'll definitely request a high-floor room with a view of the hill.

GGuest UserThe location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the train station. You can also reach the main attractions right around the corner. The room decor was cozy, and aside from the uneven floor, everything else was pretty good. Considering it's a renovation of an old castle, it's quite decent.

FFangaodexingkongThe location of the hotel is invincible (the house in the lower right corner of the second picture). Turn right after exiting the Market Street exit of the train station and walk for one minute. You don’t have to worry about carrying large luggage. When you cross the road, you will see Prince Street Park and Waverley Bridge (where the photo was taken). After crossing the bridge, you will see Prince Street. Turn right and walk for 15 minutes to Calton Hill. Turn right and walk for 3 minutes to the Royal Mile. There are many restaurants along the way. It is very close to the University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, and the Art Museum. The staff’s service is very good. When they meet people from non-English speaking countries, they will communicate with guests at a very slow speed. It is also very convenient to store luggage. There is also an airport bus at the door of the hotel.

AAnonymous UserWe got the 2 Bedroom New Apartment which is very spacious, modern & clean with a kitchenette & best, washing machine! My kids love the place very much.
Location is a bit of walking distance from city centre but it’s okay as the stroll is nice. Not too crowded near to the city centre.

JJannCindyThe location is excellent, within walking distance of the Old Town attractions and the train station, with plenty of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, including an elevator. The family room we booked had one large bed and two single beds, and it was very spacious. We were given a room on the 4th floor, which was very quiet. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and slippers are not provided, so you need to bring your own. Coffee and black tea are available in the room, and you can also get them at the front desk. The buffet breakfast is £11.99 for adults, and children can join for just an additional £1.
Daily cleaning is not provided; you need to notify the front desk or hang the 'clean my room' sign on the door for towel changes and trash disposal. There's only 30 minutes of free internet per day. Considering the cheap price we paid, I still think the hotel is quite good.

RResipaWe booked a twin-private room. The room was small, so we had to put the luggage under the bed.
If you want your room to be cleaned, then you have to book the room cleaning by scanning a QR code, 1 day before. We did it, but then no one cleaned our room. We told the reception, and they said they didn't receive our request. Hence, we had to re-book for the following day, and we told the reception as well. Only then, our room got cleaning. They cleaning was the basic one, emptied the trash bin, and refilled the toilet tissue. They wouldn't make up your bed.
The hostel is strategically located, but to shorten the length, you have to take the stairs step (around 300m only). If you are with heavy luggage, then it will be around 700m from the train station (wheel-chair access street)

GGuest UserWe had a lovely stay at the Ibis on the Royal mile. Our room was modern, adequate in size. The temperature was just right and the bed comfortable.
The location was excellent. We stayed at the back of the hotel and wasn’t bothered by a lot of noise. I would definitely recommend and will go back one day. An excellent choice and great value.
