The hotel is a historic building, with good hygiene and maintenance, but the restaurant service needs to be improved. I felt discriminated by some waiters.
The room is not big, but the hygiene is good, which can meet the basic needs of staying.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the center of Edinburgh. There are supermarkets and restaurants along the way. Next to it is a large park and the University of Edinburgh, which is different from the beauty of the central city. This is highly recommended.
The breakfast tastes quite good, a standard English breakfast with a rich variety. The service in the breakfast restaurant needs to be severely criticized, especially an Indian waiter, who waved his hands and said no to our normal order (a scrambled egg and a shared omelette) with a bad attitude, and repeated explanations were still impatient nonono. We felt racially discriminated.
In comparison, other waiters and front desk staff were very friendly.

Hotel is in great location. A stone throw away from Waverley train station. Staff were very friendly. WiFi is only available for 30 mins free each day and then you have to pay which for paying nearly £100 for one night seems cheeky. I decided to then pay for it for it to keep cutting out every few minutes. When I went to use the body wash/shampoo, it was mainly just water water but the cleaning staff were very quick to come and fix it.

An absolutely wonderful experience! The hotel's location and unbeatable views made our day in Edinburgh so enjoyable. It's just a five-minute walk from the hotel to Calton Hill, and getting to the Old Town, Victoria Street (Rainbow Street), and the Royal Mile was incredibly convenient. The hotel itself is a historic landmark; I even went to see room 552, with its beautifully painted purple door, where J.K. Rowling found a quiet retreat amidst the bustling city to complete her seventh book.
1. The location is excellent, like living on the Bund in Shanghai. Prince Street, where it's located, is known as the world's most beautiful street (a slight exaggeration, but it's truly beautiful), making it ideal for CityWalk. 2. The classic tomb-view rooms offer a picturesque view of the ancient tombs, which is quite captivating if you're not bothered. 3. The rooms are quite large, with kitchens and living rooms. 4. There's a laundry room. 5. Parking is available at a public lot over 500 meters away. You'll need to reserve it online, but you can ask the front desk for a discount code.

Location is absolutely great, the hotel is right next to st.james quarter shopping center and across Edinburgh waverly station. By 5-15 minutes walk you can access many of the tourist which is very convenience. Also the lobby is well decorated and has a great view of old town. Rooms were clean and sizing is also OK for my family.
