Hotel is close enough to Edinburgh's main attractions, you could even get there walking 20-30 minutes from the hotel. Hotel has old facilities and the room has a smell. Also, the toilet wasn't working properly and I had to flush several times to make it work.

I booked a a night within the hotel on Halloween as we had booked a walking ghost tour within the city. It was a bit of a walk down to the Royal mile taking about 25 mins but as it was dry it was ok. The hotel was fantastic, the reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The entrance lobby was warm and clean, very inviting. All of the corridors were very well maintained, clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious with a queen sized bed, seating area and a good sized bathroom. The room again was nicely decorated and well equipped. Due to the restrictions the hotel restaurant was closed but we were allowed to order food into the hotel and the receptionist even pointed us in the direction of local shops. I would recommend the hotel and will most probably stay again.

Stayed her for three nights October 2022 with the Scotland Rugby League team prior to the Rugby League World Cup. What a great find this hotel was. Spotlessly clean and so very comfortable. Bedrooms roomy and the beds as comfortable as you can get. The food was excellent, and they catered for our every need. The breakfasts were amazing and the service was beyond reproach . Special shout out to our servers Chez, Shannon and the boss Karen. Could not have been better. A massive thank you and a great start to our World Rugby League Cup campaign . Defo use this hotel again.

We stayed 1 night in the Roomzzz aparthotel and it was amazing, the staff on reception were happy and helpful. The reception and the room itself were both immaculately clean, the room was modern and spacious with all the facilities we needed, the beds are really comfortable too. In reception we were offered complimentary hot drinks whenever we liked and on the following morning complimentary pastries are served which was a lovely touch. The location is amazing also right in the centre so within walking distance to both the new town and old town, over all amazing and when next visiting Edinburgh will be booking here again x

I would have preferred to write my hopefully constructive comments to a member of the senior management at the Dakota Hotels organisation, particularly as they are in the growth stages. However, and significantly, having failed in all my attempts to research an appropriate member of the senior management team, which included writing ‘twice’ to the Dakota Hotel Edinburgh reception (no response), spending a lot of time researching Linkedin and perusing the government website ‘companies house’, not one member of the senior management team appeared. Consequently, I have penned my comments to trip advisor. Location The Dakota Hotel Edinburgh is ideally located to the airport and a super wedding venue, Dunbas Castle. Initially, one is either impressed by the modern looking black edifice or find it depressing, a personal choice. Apparently, the theme of the hotel is one of a sombre mood, where an abundance of light is shunned. On the first evening we held a small champagne reception in a room shared by another wedding party. A gentleman from the other party asked a member of staff who came to close the blinds and put us all in near darkness if it was possible to leave them open. The staff member said it was against hotel policy but would ask the duty manager. Within a few minutes the duty manager appeared and brusquely closed the shutters in a most defiant manner, clearly illustrating the mood of the management! Reception Staff The first impression of a hotel is often made when checking in. Alas, of all the reception staff I encountered during our 4 day stay, I was appalled by the lack of friendly interaction. Indeed, on many occasions the extremely abrupt and curt conversations were almost offensive. Fortunately, there was one female manager named Megan who is most definitely an excellent example for the hospitality industry, as she was polite, attentive, and most efficient. Megan was indeed a redeeming feature of this hotel. At the initial check-in we were informed that we would be entitled to a glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening. This only occurred on two of our 4 evenings! When my daughter arrived from America, she was not told that breakfast was included in her room nor that she was entitled to a complementary glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening of her stay. As my daughter’s stay combined business with pleasure, she had some very important business and video calls to make but was frequently prevented from accomplishing her work as the hotel WiFi was not robust enough. In response to her complaints, she was offered 2 further alternative access points, but neither was sufficient to achieve a strong enough connection. Dining Room The dining room (brasserie Grill) was appropriately illuminated and the staff in the main were efficient and very polite. It is still very good. The location is very good. There is a shopping mall downstairs. It is very close to the train station and is very convenient. The hotel facilities are also very new. The service attitude is very good. You can overlook the scenery on the top floor.

We may well have only stayed one night, but The Scott really left an impression on us both. We arrived at the hotel through the University which had us feeling very nervous but by the time we arrived at the hotel our fears were well and truly allayed as it it stunning. All the old worldly charm wrapped up in stunning modern world touched and comfort. We were met by the fabulous Leyton who actually made our stay as we arrived very grumpy and bedraggled but he had us in stitches within minutes, then went on to sort everything we needed for the rest of the night. The lady the following morning was less friendly but was helpful so we couldn’t complain. The one area that could be flagged up for constructive criticism is the food……the scrambled eggs for breakfast looked like they had been waving the white flag of surrender for quite some time, and Our meal in the Scholar was mediocre at best.

We used this hotel following arrival at the airport from overseas and night prior to departure . It was ideal. Nice location, friendly staff. It was pleasant to walk around the wooded campus and neighborhoods of adjacent Herriot-Watt University. We will be back. ... I would note however, that some may feel the privacy in the bathroom is a bit compromised by the construction of the bathroom doors and side panels (opaque material which lets the light shine through, and large see-through cracks between the door and the adjacent wall - not completely private).

Stayed for 3 days. Room was clean and spaceous . Staff was very helpful. Close to groceries (across the street) and restaurants. No guest laundry facilities but they do have guest laundry pick up and delivery. In house resaurant is average.
