VIP Executive Zurique Hotel

Baixa Lisbon|2.52km from Sousa Martins Statue
My recent stay at the VIP Executive Zurique Hotel was acceptable. This hotel has so much potential, and some more attention in a few areas would go a long way in transforming this property to one of a higher quality. The service was excellent. Employees were all compassionate and professional. In addition, the food offered in the hotel’s restaurant was of high quality. Prices at the property were fair. From a value point of view, I expected a bit more. I paid €439 for my eight-day stay. In addition, dinner was expensive and extremely limited. More specifically, in terms of amenities, the hotel boasts a beautiful outdoor pool area. Unfortunately, it was often overcrowded and littered with garbage. More attention to detail would remedy these issues. Wifi was available, but weak in certain parts of the hotel. A bar is located in the lobby, but opens late and closes early in the evening, making it inaccessible. The gym was closed during my time here. That was also unfortunate, as images and descriptions on websites were misleading. I stayed in an Executive Single Room during my week here. The room itself was contemporary and updated, however, housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days, my room was cleaned impeccably, others, housekeeping was abysmal or nonexistent. Towels oftentimes had rips or stains on them. The curtains had small rips and were stained. In addition, one of the blankets was stained. The provided toiletries were good. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were very poor quality. The hotel did not specially publicize a smoking policy. Oftentimes, the corridors reeked of smoke. Cigarettes littered the pool deck and common areas in the hotel. Staff worked hard to keep surfaces in the lobby disinfected, however, their efforts were undermined by thousands of guests utilizing these areas. I do believe the hotel is understaffed. The hotel would benefit from having maintenance and housekeeping readily available and on call for assistance. When I necessitated maintenance, I was told I would have to wait for the following morning when the technician would be available. While the rooms were updated and contemporary, the bathrooms were rundown. The hotel shows it’s apparent age on the exterior, and in the elevators. Some surfaces were cracked and not functional. I experienced difficulties in the elevators. They stopped working at times, leaving me stuck. Again, better maintenance would remedy these concerns. The location of the hotel is a positive. It is surrounded by transit options that provide direct links to cities all across the country. This is ideal for all visitors. Overall, the hotel served it’s purpose. I do believe the hotel is ill equipped to handle the high volume of guests that stay here. Housekeeping is marginal, and must be improved. Maintenance needs to pay closer attention to the aging property. Finally, security here is lacking. I have some concerns as it pertains to safety. Front desk staff has no control over people

This is not the hotel to stay at if anything goes wrong. They are ready and waiting to take advantage of your desperation and charge you exorbitant fees. When checking in, we were told that if we needed to get into the hotel after hours we can ring the bell and someone will let us in. At no point was it made clear that we might be charged if it was an ‘after hours’ call. While checking out of the hotel at 6 am in the morning, I mistakenly left my phone inside the room. However the outside door needs the hotel room key and we didn’t have it on us. We had to make it to the bus to get to our next destination and were desperate to get my phone when we remembered that we could call the hotel to let us in. We called, were let in, retrieved the phone and were on our way. Imagine my shock when I later got charged £20 for this ‘after hours’ call. I am not aware of such a practice at any hotel I’ve ever stayed in, much less a 4 star hotel that this claims to be. This is a very basic service that should be guaranteed. The hotel could have this ‘rule’ in some fine print and I am sure they feel it’s justified, but that hardly matters when you make your customers feel scammed out of their money for such a basic service to be let in to retrieve critical items. I’d rather that instead of shock fees, I be told upfront by someone before booking that such charges could be applied or they adjust the room rate and guarantee the service instead. I couldn’t ever stay in a hotel that takes advantage of the desperation of their customers.

The room is very spacious, very clean, and well equipped for cooking and so on. The location is high, very close to Liberty Avenue, but you need to go downhill to Liberty Avenue. You can also walk to the surrounding attractions. Uber at the entrance of the hotel is very convenient for renting.

Location was centrally located on a quiet street. Bed was comfortable, cleaning services were excellent, bathroom was huge and the shower roomy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Clothes washer was a plus. On the other hand, we received numerous messages from the host, which included a code to enter the front door. We had provided all information for a pre check in. What was not provided was information that the property had two buildings on the same street, so when we checked in at the lobby kiosk and learned our apt number, we went to that floor to find no apt with that number. We used the phone at the kiosk to learn we had to travel up the steep street, with all our luggage, to go to a different building. And balcony was so tiny it was almost unusable.

We were welcomed here after a 3 1/2 hour long drive from the Duro Valley, and both the valet and concierge were amazing. It is a small and very elegant hotel with stunning views. Conveniently located to everything and one of the few hotels in the historical district that provides parking at the actual hotel. We will absolutely return when we come back to Lisbon!

The hostel has a great location. Just next to it there is a big carpark if you come by car and at the side it also has an ATM. Metro and buss station really close by. On the back street there are plenty of local pastrys, restaurants and small shops. The stuff is friendly and helpfull. Bed is comfortable and it's super handy that you have 2 sockets and a ”night light” just above your pillow. You also get a locker that's under the beds - this is big and great to store your stuff till the point where you roomates come late or leave very early and then it makes a really loud noise. The showers were not so clean but i've seen worse, at least you get soap dispensers that actualy have soap in them and there is also a hair dryer in the bathroom. The wifi power is great and works well everywhere in the hostel. The terrace is really nicely designed and a great place to socialise on the days that it's not extremely windy 😆

Stayed here for the first 4 nights of our 2 week trip to Portugal. So impressed with our experience in every way...rooms, staff, atmosphere, breakfast...that we ending up coming back for our last night in Lisbon. This is a n elegant, yet very comfortable, lovely hotel. Beautiful garden setting for outdoor dining with wonderful breakfast buffet. Staff will make you a breakfast to order as well, also cappuccino. Did happy hour cocktails with wonderful sushi. Outstanding attentive staff even went and filled our rental car with gas as we had a very early flight out. We traveled with another couple and saw that all the rooms are beautiful. On our last night had a deluxe room with french doors and a city view...lovely. We stayed at wonderful hotels throughout our trip and would not hesitate to recommend to those planning a trip to Lisbon.

The location is very good, right between the Gucci store and the YSL store, the front desk and the porter are very good, and there is a young porter who is very handsome. There are free juice, water and biscuits in the lobby, thank you very much for their enthusiastic help! There is a supermarket downstairs in the hotel, and there are some light meals such as sandwiches and pasta! The only fly in the ointment is that the window of our room faces the patio, and the parking lot needs to be detoured a bit! Overall very satisfied!
