Amazing
AAnonymous UserThe location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk across from the station.
The service was superb. The foreign front desk staff member was very enthusiastic and helpful. Besides basic check-in, he also assisted us in finding the shops we needed.
Upon check-in, there were clear instructions available in various languages. Breakfast was a semi-buffet à la carte style, with three time slots to choose from.
The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, exactly as pictured.
Even the drinks in the mini-bar were delicious; we enjoyed buying Hida beef and cooking it ourselves.
‼️ The only drawback: there was an issue with the range hood/ventilation system in the room. Around 11 PM, a strong cooking oil smell suddenly filled the room, possibly from another guest frying meat, and it quickly spread throughout our room via the air conditioning or some other system. It was late, and we were almost asleep, so we didn't report it to the hotel directly.
Secondly, if you cook meat yourself, the ventilation isn't very effective (it seems there's no range hood or it's just poor), as the room ends up smelling quite a bit.
Friends planning to cook should be aware of this.
Other than that, I highly recommend it.
GGuest UserYuu 游 is an amazing ryokan. We (family of 4) had a very nice two nights' stay there. The Japanese style breakfast (you can choose western or Japanese, but obviously Japanese style is the winner) & dinner included in the package is simply amazing! And be sure to try Takayama Sake too. It goes so well with Hida beef:) just can't get enough.
To get there from Takayama JR station (bus station there too), be sure to board the bus that goes to ipposui. We didn't rent a car because we are not used to driving in snowy weather. But everyone working in Yuu is super friendly, even drives us for a short trip out...
And of course, the onsen is amazing too! Unfortunately stay there!
11861682****The room design and comfort are excellent, perfectly blending with nature. The hot springs are outstanding and ideal for relaxation. However, there's a significant gap between Trip.com's booking service and Booking.com's. When I booked this hotel through *********** previously, there were detailed instructions for dinner reservations and bus station transfers, making check-in very smooth. This time, booking via Trip.com, it showed the reservation was made through an overseas agent. After the order was confirmed, there were no reminders about booking breakfast and dinner, nor any information about bus station transfers. This made check-in very inconvenient. It was raining heavily that day, and after arriving at Hirayu Bus Terminal, I contacted the hotel, only to be told they couldn't provide a pick-up service. I had to drag my luggage through the heavy rain and snow to walk to the hotel, getting completely soaked – a terrible experience. Luckily, I had stayed there before and could navigate my way by memory; it would have been extremely difficult for a first-time guest. Upon arrival, I was informed that dinner and next day's breakfast were unavailable as they needed to be booked 5 days in advance, a detail Trip.com failed to mention. I hope Trip.com can improve the quality of its overseas hotel booking services; relying solely on overseas agents to secure rooms is far from sufficient.
AAngela9212I stayed there for 3d2n on my trip to Takayama with my sister and son. They offered great hospitality and delicious hide beef breakfast. They even offered the free kimono trying and allow us to wear it to walk around at Sanmachi-dori for a day. We also booked their private outdoor onsen, it was really great!
The only setback is their location abit far from City Center, we will need to walk 30mins to bus station, morning market and old street. But the view and weather is comfortable and nice on the way to there. You can take cab too.
I wish i can come back one day :)
EElfmanThe hotel has a washing machine, and the bed is very spacious. It's a very new hotel, and there's a Seven Eleven right across the street. Parking spaces are limited, so you need to book in advance. Check-in and check-out are very efficient.
AAnonymous UserLocation near the station and bus stop. Walkable to old city and morning market. They have private onsen and public onsen. Free ramen at night and drinks at lobby. No shoes allowed inside property. Clean room and comfortable bed.
DDennis Quah Soon ChinThe location of the hotel is awesome. Next to the Takayama station and 2 large supermarkets nearby. There is a mcdonald's barista cafe right beside the hotel for late night coffee and snacks. The room are comfortable and the hotel provided useful amenities such as shoe dryers which were definitely useful due to the wet weather hikes we took.
However we experienced differential treatment by the staffs based on race. Caucasian tourists were given more leeway in their behaviour while we were kept on a tight leash. Eg we were told we cannot drink and make noise in the lobby. I understand and respect this requirement. But I cannot accept that the caucasian tourists doing the same things and even more noisy then us are left alone. If rules are expected to be followed, it should apply to all guests regardless of race. This marred and otherwise pleasant hotel
¹¹m⁵The assigned room was not the one I booked. Instead of East Wing with a mountain view, I got assigned to South Wing, not sure if it is a mountain view but definitely not what I expected (I will attach a photo). But generally, I still had a fantastic experience there. The location is great for me because it is near Shinhotaka Ropeway. The open air onsen was beautiful, I liked it a lot, and went every night. The food was fantastic too! I am not well versed with Japanese food culture, but basically it was the traditional course meal (only dinner) you probably will have in a decent Japanese restaurant. I am a vegetarian, the hotel is prepared for my diet every breakfast and dinner. I must say I am really amazed with their food culture and knife skill. Their front desk was helpful with my needs too like a nail cutter, plaster etc.
GGuest UserHotel room was clean and spacious, had everything that we needed for the night. Room was a little warm and stuffy.
Hotel staff service was good, even with the presence of a language barrier.
Breakfast and dinner were honestly subpar, don't expect a whole buffet for you. Dinner felt like it was reheated. Breakfast was underwhelming.
Onsen was nice and spacious.
GGuest UserThis was such a lovely place to stay.
The room was nice and spacious, allowing us to feel at home.
Not only were we taken care of by means of beautiful breakfast and dinner, but the staff were extremely helpful when we talked to them about hiking in Kamokochi.
I would highly recommend booking this place especially with a meal plan, since it was nice to have food sorted after Hiking all day.
