Tokyu Stay Hida Takayama Musubinoyu ★★★★
A contemporary stay featuring spacious rooms with in-suite washer-dryers, plus a rooftop onsen and convenient access to sightseeing spots.
Hida Takayama Washington Hotel Plaza ★★★
"The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite the station. You take the escalator up to the 2nd floor for reception, where you pay the accommodation tax upon arrival – it was 400 JPY for 2 people for 2 nights. Next to the reception, you can help yourself to toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrushes, makeup remover, facial cleanser, skincare products, instant coffee, tea, and bath salts. The room is indeed small, and so is the bathroom. We booked a twin room, and we could barely open one 26-inch suitcase. My biggest complaint is that the two beds have different leg styles. The one against the wall is a folding bed with recessed legs, while the outer bed has four protruding legs. The hallway is already extremely narrow, and I kept stubbing my toes on those legs every time I walked by! Check-in is at 2 PM, and you can leave your luggage at the hotel beforehand. Check-out is at 10 AM. Regarding housekeeping, I told the front desk that we didn't need a full cleaning, just a towel change and trash removal."

Hoshokaku
"The hotel service, food, and accommodations are all excellent. There are no disadvantages at all except that it is a little far from the station. I recommend it to those who enjoy ryokans and are afraid of or feel burdened by local ryokans."
Hanaougi Bettei Iiyama
"Whilst we are glad we stayed here for the laughs and stories we will dine out on, it missed the bar by a big way as a Westerner it wasn’t designed for us. We did embrace the meal the first night. The food was not to our taste. Other places we felt comfortable eating Japanese food but not for us here. The lady who spoke English… used a translation app which was fine but she was extremely passive aggressive. Other staff spoke a similar standard of English and were warm and welcoming. There were very strict rules here; the location was not good… and no bars or any social areas in the Riokhan where you could relax in a chair. Uncomfortable futons. The onson in the room was ok. Shuttle bus had limited times and only ran if you booked it in advance. Knowledge of the local area walks was poor. The sister hotel was tired too. A tired retreat in a poor location with some staff needing to update their understanding of what a Western visitor will be looking for in a stay here"
Hoshino Resorts KAI Okuhida
"The decor is modern and the price is reasonable, but the facilities aren't particularly outstanding."
Ryokan Hida Beef
"One of the best I have experienced with ryokan staying. I love a small hotel/inn as it is not crowded. This place answers my expectations. Its location is a bit far off but it is not an issue. It is accessible by public bus from Takayama. Each room has private onsen. It also has 2 outdoor, private onsen on first-come-first-serve basis. There are also public baths for male and female. Room was in good condition. Bathroom is a bit small for me. Only complaint I would have was foot step noise from the room on upper floor. Very annoyed. Food was great. I stayed 2 nights, the hotel provided 2 different types of food - appreciated. Highway recommended."
Spa Hotel Alpina Hida Takayama
This hotel features natural hot springs, rooftop private water therapy, public baths, beauty services, and a clothes steamer.
Relax Hotel Takayama Station
"The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk across from the station. The service was superb. The foreign front desk staff member was very enthusiastic and helpful. Besides basic check-in, he also assisted us in finding the shops we needed. Upon check-in, there were clear instructions available in various languages. Breakfast was a semi-buffet à la carte style, with three time slots to choose from. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, exactly as pictured. Even the drinks in the mini-bar were delicious; we enjoyed buying Hida beef and cooking it ourselves. ‼️ The only drawback: there was an issue with the range hood/ventilation system in the room. Around 11 PM, a strong cooking oil smell suddenly filled the room, possibly from another guest frying meat, and it quickly spread throughout our room via the air conditioning or some other system. It was late, and we were almost asleep, so we didn't report it to the hotel directly. Secondly, if you cook meat yourself, the ventilation isn't very effective (it seems there's no range hood or it's just poor), as the room ends up smelling quite a bit. Friends planning to cook should be aware of this. Other than that, I highly recommend it."
Hida Takayama Onsen Hida Hotel Plaza
"Although it is a large hotel, the staff at the front desk are friendly and will greet you immediately. I was able to eat my meals easily. I wonder if the young waiter has a part-time job. There were some parts where I wasn't very skillful, but it was delicious and I had a lot of fun. Please do your best. I will change it to support. If I have another chance, I would like to stay with a different plan."
Tabino Hotel Hida Takayama
"The hotel is perfect if you are driving around the region. It has free parking. Location is not in the center, but just 8min away driving. They also have a shuttle that takes you there. Room is spacious (as for Japanese standards)."
Ryokan Asunaro
"A very cozy place with a very pleasant atmosphere. It's a pity we couldn't even enjoy the Japanese breakfast."
Route Inn Grantia Hidatakayama Wakura no yado
"There was a wide variety of side dishes for breakfast, so if I can't eat everything this time, I'd like to try some mono. I'm looking forward to the next time."
Oyado Koto No Yume
A charming Japanese inn known for its themed rooms and authentic kaiseki dining, perfect for a cultural and intimate stay.
Hidatakayama Futarishizuka Hakuun
"On a small hillside in the mountains. It's about a 10-minute walk to the city. One thing to note is that the check-out time is 1 o'clock. We thought it was 11 o'clock, and the owner was a little unhappy. But it was okay."
