Core permanent product categories include:

  • Diamonds & precious gemstones: Full-carat natural and lab-grown diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds and certified high-end stones.

Pro Buying Tips for High-Value Jewellery

Shuibei offers transparent, stable pricing for high-value jewellery at a huge discount compared to Canadian retailers. All items follow global market standards with verifiable quality markings and official certifications. Below are key buying guidelines for precious metals, diamonds, gems, jade and pearls:

  • Gold jewellery: Priced by real-time international gold rates plus a low processing fee. Standard Au999, Au990 and 18K hallmarks guarantee authentic purity.
  • Diamonds: Available in 0.3 to 5+ carats (natural and lab-grown). All quality stones come with official GIA or NGTC 4C grading certificates for full traceability.
  • Jade & pearls: Always ask for formal appraisal certificates to avoid artificially treated goods. High-quality pearls feature uniform shape, smooth surfaces and consistent luster.
  • Semi-precious stones: Choose pieces with even colour, clean texture and no visible cracks for reliable quality and long-term value.

Custom Jewellery Commission Process

Custom jewellery is Shuibei’s signature advantage, priced 50–70% lower than Canadian custom work with no hidden charges. Its standardized, permanent process is straightforward for all international visitors:

  1. Submit design requirements via images, sketches or verbal descriptions;
  2. Select metal and gemstone materials to match your budget;
  3. Review and revise custom 3D design drafts;
  4. Complete professional production, setting and polishing;
  5. Receive finished pieces with official quality certifications.

Fixed lead times apply year-round: 3–5 working days for simple engraved items, 7–15 days for complex wedding sets and large jade carvings.

Look at the prices?! They're literally pennies for 5G and a decent amount of data. For some reason, I bought those ridiculous SIM cards from Russian operators. eSIM is the best option.

Smart Shuibei Shopping Tips for First-Time Canadian Visitors

These universal rules help Canadian shoppers avoid pitfalls and shop rationally year-round:

  • Bargaining etiquette: Retail orders have mild negotiation room, while bulk orders qualify for standard wholesale discounts. Late-afternoon shopping offers more flexible pricing; avoid extreme lowball offers.
  • Wholesale MOQ Rules: No universal 5-piece rule. Silver & small accessories require 5+ pieces for wholesale pricing; gold, diamond and high-value fine jewellery support single-piece wholesale rates, ideal for individual Canadian buyers.
  • Authenticity guarantee: Collect official NGTC/GIA certificates for all high-value items; paid on-site re-inspection is available.
  • Pitfall avoidance: Steer clear of overpriced low-grade jade, uncertified diamonds and unverified raw stones.
  • Cross-store comparison: Prices and workmanship vary by vendor; always compare options before purchasing.

Essential Practical Tips for Canadian Travellers

Essential Practical Tips for Canadian Travellers

Visa, Payment & Connectivity

Canadian ordinary passport holders qualify for 30-day visa-free entry for tourism, business and transit (valid until December 31, 2026), with a minimum of 6 months passport validity required. Only RMB (Chinese Yuan) is accepted for in-person transactions; currency exchange services are widely available at airports and local banks. International bank cards can be bound to Alipay or WeChat Pay for daily payments, while small cash is recommended for street vendors. Local SIM cards or portable Wi-Fi devices provide stable internet, and a VPN is required to access Canadian social platforms and apps in China.

Safety & China Customs Rules

Shuibei is a highly secure commercial zone with 24-hour monitoring. When exiting China, ensure all jewellery purchases meet the “personal use, reasonable quantity” standard to avoid customs issues.

CBSA Rules for Bringing Jewellery Back to Canada

Canadian travellers must fully declare all overseas jewellery to CBSA to avoid penalties. Trips of 48 hours or longer qualify for a CAD 800 duty exemption; shorter trips have lower exemption limits. Purchases exceeding the threshold incur standard GST/HST and import duties. Always retain receipts and certificates for verification, insurance and resale. Bulk identical pieces are classified as commercial goods with higher duty rates.

Final Thoughts

As an experienced Canadian cross-border shopper, I highly recommend Shuibei as a reliable year-round jewellery destination. With factory-low prices, diverse inventory, professional custom work and strict quality control, it delivers far better value than Canadian retail stores. This guide covers all essential rules and tips for safe, cost-effective jewellery shopping in Shenzhen.

Staying at the Crowne Plaza was a generally solid and practical experience. Joy handled the check-in process efficiently and was straightforward to communicate with if any issues arose. The hotel's location is excellent, not far from the subway and large shopping malls, making it convenient for business, dining, and shopping without traveling far, saving a good amount on transportation costs. The room hygiene was quite well done; the bedding was clean and tidy, the bathroom had no lingering water stains or odors, and the desk and floor were clean, making for a reassuring stay. All in-room facilities were in normal working order, including lights, bathroom fixtures, and charging ports. Public areas were also well-maintained, indicating consistent upkeep. The hotel was mostly quiet throughout the day; even with the bustling commercial area nearby, closing the door provided a good resting environment. The front desk and other staff were responsive to requests and never dismissive. While there aren't any overly fancy services, the hotel largely delivers on expectations, making it a well-balanced choice for business trips or short getaways.

This hotel is incredibly convenient. The B1 level connects directly to a shopping area and a metro station, featuring everything from coffee shops and a snack street to anime stores – it's super handy. The lobby is luxurious and grand, and the rooms are spacious and bright. The huge curved floor-to-ceiling windows offer a breathtaking panoramic view of Shenzhen's nightscape. The swimming pool is clean and comfortable, and the gym is professionally equipped, with a full range of clean and hygienic machines; it's quite busy, but the atmosphere is fantastic! The executive lounge offers a great selection of food with excellent service; they even delivered meals to our room when we didn't want to go out. Overall, the experience was superb, and I highly recommend it!

Met up with an old classmate I hadn't seen in ages and chose to stay at this Hilton. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, and check-in, as well as requests for extra drinking water, were handled swiftly. The area around the hotel is bustling with shops and restaurants – afternoon tea spots, street food stalls, and popular Instagrammable places are everywhere. The room layout was spacious and the bed was big enough, ensuring a good night's sleep after chatting with my friend. Highly recommend for social gatherings and trips.

I chose this hotel because I was going to Hong Kong 🇭🇰, and it was so convenient! It's just a 100-meter walk to Futian Railway Station, and the subway is also easily accessible. My child really wanted to take the subway, so we went to Hong Kong. The two round trips were really unpleasant. This place is part of China, yet you have to put up with the attitudes of the people there; they look so impatient, as if we mainlanders owe them something. Without our mainland fish, how would your economy grow? I'll never go there again. Shenzhen is much better, with great food and a relaxed atmosphere. The hotel was good too 👍. Seeing Hong Kong people coming to Shenzhen to spend money, it makes you realize how much more affordable the mainland is. A bowl of noodles in Hong Kong costs over a hundred, and everything is expensive. I'll definitely come back to Shenzhen for food, drinks, and fun. Happy! There were no crowds at Disneyland during the summer vacation 🤗, and there will be fewer and fewer people in the future. Welcome to Shanghai Disneyland, where you don't have to deal with anyone's bad attitude; just let loose and have fun!

Although there were a few minor hitches during my stay, the hotel staff handled everything efficiently and responsively, and the issues were resolved quickly and properly. I'd especially like to thank Jennifer for her patient assistance throughout, her gentle and considerate demeanor, and for proactively helping me coordinate various matters – she's very responsible. Overall, the positive aspects far outweighed any negatives; the hotel's emergency service and staff professionalism are commendable. It's been a while since I brought my family to stay at the Four Seasons Shenzhen. On the day of check-in, Max contacted me and enthusiastically arranged for us to check in directly at the Executive Lounge on the 29th floor, which felt very welcoming! He also helped upgrade us to a suite on the 30th floor and thoughtfully arranged a small bed and a little tent for the child. Previously, he made a personalized key card for me, which I still carry. This time, he made a cute bear-themed key card for my child with her name printed on it, and she absolutely loved it! I've also stayed at the Four Seasons in Guangzhou, Tianjin, and Beijing before, and they were all excellent! But I feel a special connection to the Four Seasons Shenzhen; every time I come back, it feels like returning home. Perhaps this is the true essence of a top-tier hotel. The Executive Lounge has seen some changes; breakfast is now served as a set menu, which is quite good. They prepare just enough portions for the number of guests, which is quite eco-friendly. I feel the entire hotel has a very strong environmental consciousness, including the packaging of toothpaste and the wooden toothbrushes, etc. APEC Shenzhen is coming up soon, and the Four Seasons should be the official hotel, meeting very international standards. The Bose sound system in the room is also a nice touch. The Executive Lounge experience was great this time; the supervisor, Cecilie, was very warm, and Chadi even came over personally to greet my family during dinner, which was a pleasant surprise. Oh, and the outdoor pool was open in the summer with a perfect water temperature. It was a wonderful experience, and I look forward to staying again!

The location is convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the border crossing. This established hotel truly offers excellent service and delicious food. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, the ladies at the front desk greeted us with warm smiles. The room was a hit with our child; it was spacious enough for them to play happily with their toys. Plus, there's a kids' playroom downstairs which is great for burning off some energy. The front desk kindly booked our dinner at the Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly to our child, trying their best to accommodate all our requests. Everyone was so patient, especially Ms. Lucky Wei, which made our meal very enjoyable. Lucky and the manager even arranged some extra treats for us for breakfast the next morning, which was a very thoughtful gesture. On the second day, due to heavy rain, Mr. Vic Zhang at the front desk specially helped us arrange a late check-out, which we greatly appreciated.

This hotel offers incredible value for money! Every staff member was exceptionally warm and welcoming. We came with our child during the summer holidays, and the front desk even upgraded us to a family suite. The room was huge, and our child absolutely loved it. They even said they want to come back to this hotel next year! The breakfast restaurant was particularly impressive; despite being packed during the summer, it was never chaotic. The staff helped us find a table, and they managed the flow of people so it wasn't overly crowded. This really shows how well-managed the hotel is. There were also tons of family activities every day. We originally came for the beach, but our child ended up spending three days just enjoying the hotel. We were extremely satisfied with this stay.

This was a perfect hotel for us to land after a long international flight with young kids; huge hotel and compound which likely had its prime when it was first built 20 years ago; it needs a lot of maintenance and upkeep but the standout of it was its nature park access which is a must with young kids; so beautiful and lots of fun. It would be so nice if it became more popular again so they can restore the place to its former glory. Workers were really warm and friendly; breakfast was a nice touch.

The room is quite spacious, and the bedding is excellent. The sheets and pillows are very comfortable, so I slept exceptionally well. Getting a good night's sleep in a hotel is very important, and this is high praise indeed. The hotel's decor is stylish, making you feel relaxed the moment you walk in. Breakfast deserves a special mention; the variety is rich, and the taste is unparalleled. The Cantonese breakfast was delicious, and the egg rolls and eggs Benedict were also very good. The only downside is that if you go late for breakfast, you might have to queue, but there are plenty of seats, so even if there's a line, it moves quickly. The coffee and tea at breakfast are also excellent. Freya, Winky, and Monuca at the front desk are very thoughtful. They genuinely care if you're enjoying your stay and promptly address any issues that arise during check-in. The front desk for check-in is on the 33rd floor with a great view. The executive lounge is a nice place to relax and unwind. Afternoon tea consists of two types of cake and some beverages. Dinner is relatively simple but has everything you need, including a noodle bar, which shows a good effort. Overall, the stay was very comfortable, and I would choose this hotel again if I return. However, there are three minor drawbacks I must mention: 1. One side of the hotel faces a large construction site, so the view isn't great. There's not much the hotel can do about this, as it's already well-maintained, but the surrounding environment does detract a bit. Perhaps future stays could compensate for this view deficit. 2. Light leaks from one side of the curtains, which can slightly affect sleep. 3. For such a high-end hotel, the complimentary water was Nongfu Spring with a red cap. While Nongfu Spring is good, I feel an upgrade to the water would be more fitting. Hygene: The cleaning was very detailed and thorough. The cleaning staff were all smiles and greeted me warmly, which put me in a good mood. Service: Whether it was the concierge on the first floor or the staff in the executive lounge/breakfast restaurant, everyone was incredibly friendly and made me feel very comfortable.

As the best hotel in Shenzhen, it truly lives up to expectations. Although it opened several years ago, it's incredibly well-maintained. The bedding and bath products are very thoughtfully chosen, and the welcome tea and snacks were a nice touch. The afternoon tea selection might not be huge, but it's very refined and tastes excellent. I particularly want to mention breakfast – the eggs Benedict were perfectly made, and the braised beef noodles were incredibly authentic. The fresh coconuts also met the high standards you'd expect from a luxury hotel. However, there was a small hiccup during check-in. When we arrived at our room, we found the door wide open and a man sitting on the sofa! Luckily, a staff member was passing by in the hallway. After hearing what happened, they escorted us to the lobby to clarify the situation. Leo, the lobby manager, sincerely apologized for the hotel's error, and the solution he offered was acceptable. For someone who has stayed in many ultra-luxury hotels worldwide, it's quite unacceptable for a Mandarin Oriental to make such a basic mistake. This was truly a first for me, and I hope the hotel takes this seriously!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A very satisfying stay. I stayed in a Deluxe Select Twin Room (high floor). Trip.com stated floors 16-20, but my room was on the 15th floor. The room was incredibly spacious. Even with a family of four, the twin room wouldn't feel crowded. The overall decor maintains JW Marriott's consistent sophisticated business style, with wood finishes and warm lighting. While not the latest design trend, it exudes quality and is exceptionally well-maintained, creating a comfortable yet upscale atmosphere. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the mattress offered excellent support, leading to a very peaceful night's sleep. The room was equipped with a sofa, desk, and coffee table, making it convenient for both business and family travel. The extra-wide floor-to-ceiling windows provided ample natural light, and with soft lighting at night, the ambiance was wonderful. The bathroom was spacious, featuring marble design, a separate bathtub and shower, ensuring true wet/dry separation. The vanity area was ample, with exquisite craftsmanship in the details. Overall, it fully met the standards expected of a high-end hotel. Additionally, the wardrobe and storage space were very generous, equipped with a safe, bathrobes, mini-fridge, and other amenities. Highlights: * Extra-wide floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious and comfortable room with a well-designed layout. * Excellent bedding quality, providing a great sleep experience. * Luxurious bathroom with a convenient separate bathtub and shower. * Clean and tidy. * Very suitable for business trips and family stays. * Excellent location, approximately a 3-minute walk to Chegongmiao Station Exit J1 on Metro Line 1, making it very convenient to reach Futian, Luohu Port, and other areas. * All hotel staff were very warm, polite, and professional, reflecting JW Marriott's consistently high standards. My only minor suggestion: The hotel is generally very well-maintained, but if some in-room facilities could be upgraded in the future, I believe the stay experience would be even more perfect. Overall, it's a highly recommended hotel.

The location of the hotel is just perfect! 2 minutes of a walking distance to the Sea World. The room was clean. And the laundry service was available as well. Personally, I used the iron and the ironing board. But there were some disappointing facts about the shower cabin. The water pours and leaks out of the cabin which makes the floor so wet, so no towels can help, and I had to collect it with my slippers apparently. And there was shampoo in the shampoo and conditioner containers both which means I just washed my head twice. I’d recommend the hotel stuff mind these details. But, nevertheless, thanks my stay there!

Room: Excellent! 👍 The room was spacious and bright, and the high-floor view was fantastic. It was so relaxing to sit inside and watch the sea. The twin beds were easy to push together, making it very family-friendly for those with kids. Location: Unbeatable! ❤️ Our main goal this Dragon Boat Festival was to explore the Yantian coastline. The hotel is super close to the subway, making Dameisha, Xiaomeisha, and Xichong all easily accessible by metro. It was also convenient to walk to Yating Bay to catch the Haishan Line to Enshang Wetland Park. We had a very fulfilling three-day holiday. Facilities: The hotel isn't specifically geared towards families, so we only tried the pool, which was good. However, with One City Mall right downstairs, you have everything you need, which is incredibly convenient. Breakfast: Very satisfied! 😘 Everything was great, except for a bit of a wait during peak hours. They had freshly made wontons and waffles, as well as fresh squeezed juice. My kid's on vacation, so I thought I'd give them a change of scenery for their homework, and I get a change of pace too! I debated booking this hotel for ages. It felt like it had been around forever, and I was worried the facilities and hardware might be outdated. In the end, poverty won out, and I booked it anyway (sorry, sorry, sorry, hahaha, saying it three times so no hard feelings!). I booked a Westin Suite, and the room was huge with a really smart layout. Plus, with the heavy rain in Shenzhen lately, wow! The vibe was absolutely incredible! This room has a dining table, a workspace, and a seating area – the separate zones are so well-designed, seriously! And two bathrooms! Next time, I might book two rooms, it felt like there might be a connecting door next to us. The view, honestly, was amazing. The lights at Window of the World at night were pretty good too! The bed and pillows were just right, very comfortable. I'd definitely come back again. Another super convenient thing is that the hotel connects directly to the mall, as shown in picture 10. For a rainy day, this hotel is an absolute lifesaver!

Huaqiangbei Area Shenzhen|3.08km from city centre
My two-day, one-night stay at the Quchuang Hotel (Futian Huaqiangbei Metro Station Branch) was incredibly comfortable, far exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend it. The hotel boasts an excellent location, close to Huaqiangbei Metro Station. The bustling commercial district is within walking distance, offering a wide array of dining options and shops, making commutes and shopping exceptionally convenient. It's perfectly suited for both leisure travelers and business guests on short stays. The front desk staff were professional and courteous, handling both check-in and check-out processes efficiently and smoothly. Their service was attentive and gentle, and they proactively helped with travel inquiries, making me feel truly valued. The guest room was meticulously cleaned, with a tidy and spotless environment. The bedding was changed promptly and was free of any unpleasant odors. The room layout was well-designed, with good natural light and ventilation. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation, and the water pressure was stable. All daily facilities were well-maintained, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a quiet environment at night for a restful and relaxing sleep. The common areas were neat and orderly, and the rooftop even offered complimentary laundry facilities, demonstrating thoughtful attention to detail. Considering its prime location in the bustling Futian area, the hotel's pricing is very reasonable, and both its facilities and service level offer exceptional value for money. This brief stay was a fantastic experience. I will definitely prioritize choosing this hotel again on future visits to the Huaqiangbei area in Shenzhen, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to other travelers.

The hotel is located right next to a park, which is perfect for families with kids. We were very satisfied with our stay in all aspects. After dinner, we enjoyed a lovely evening stroll along the seaside boardwalk, which was incredibly relaxing. Ms. Wang at the front desk arranged a room for us with a fantastic view of Yantian Port, and the expansive scenery was truly beautiful! We'll definitely be back next time!
