The location is excellent, just a 15-minute drive from Datong South Station, less than a 10-minute walk to the scenic area shuttle bus stop, and a 10-minute walk to the ancient city and Yangmen. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast, and there are lively street food stalls downstairs in the evening. Various dining options are available within a 10-minute walk. The hotel's service standards are comparable to or better than a 3-star hotel, with polite and courteous staff. The room hygiene is almost flawless, equipped with disposable toilet seat covers, a humidifier, and bathroom slippers. Although I didn't initially request a disposable razor, they promptly delivered one to my room when I asked. Overall, my experience exceeded expectations for the price, even though the facilities are slightly dated. Highly recommended.

On my trip to Datong, I booked a stay at the Howard Johnson Jindi Plaza Datong, located right by the ancient city, through Trip.com. It's rated 5 stars online, and it truly lives up to the hype! As soon as I checked in, I was upgraded for free to a deluxe business suite. It was my first time seeing a suite with a dining table big enough to host over 10 friends and family. After one night, I switched back to my originally booked business king room. The king room was also incredibly comfortable, measuring a spacious 62 square meters. Opening the curtains revealed views of Datong's streets. If you walk to the end of the corridor, you can even see a panoramic view of the ancient city of Datong. What truly stands out is the fantastic Chinese restaurant at this 5-star hotel. I stayed in Datong for three days, and除了one lunch I had in Hunyuan Ancient City, all my other five lunches and dinners were enjoyed at the hotel's Chinese restaurant. Here, a bowl of Shanxi's specialty knife-cut noodles is only 6 RMB, and a bowl of cold noodles, even tastier than those in Hunyuan, is just 3 RMB. You can order half portions of shumai, and during the first dog days of summer, they even had dumplings. I tried the braised deer tendon with scallions, something I'd never had before, and it was superb, as were the husband and wife lung slices and jellyfish salad – perfect with drinks. Dining here is delicious and affordable. If you top up 200 RMB, you even get a complimentary plate of Shanxi's signature 'guoyourou' (fried pork in sauce). A huge shout-out also goes to the restaurant staff. They are warm, thoughtful, and genuinely care for guests, even advising against ordering too much, ensuring just the right amount! In summary, I give a 5-star rating to both the hotel and the F&B department. The last photo is of the hotel's breakfast, which was also excellent. The hotel has two breakfast restaurants, so even with many guests, it never feels crowded!

The hotel is very close to the ancient city, about a 10-minute taxi ride or a 30-45 minute walk. There are shared bikes in the vicinity, but you'll need to look for them. There are supermarkets on both sides of the hotel entrance, with the one on the left being larger and fully stocked with all sorts of daily necessities. We even bought several bottles of vinegar to take home. The hotel lobby offers coffee, popcorn, and ice, and there's a self-service beverage machine right as you enter. The hotel has four floors; the basement has guest rooms, a restaurant, a gym, and a laundry room. The restaurant only serves breakfast, and I particularly recommend the knife-cut noodles and lamb offal soup with vermicelli. The dishes are all delicious, with both Chinese and Western options. It's 20 for adults and 20 for children (check the hotel policy for specifics), which I personally think is great value. The staff are all very enthusiastic, and the front desk staff are beautiful and speak softly. The hotel offers nine free services: laundry, foot bath basins, evening porridge (currently unavailable), laundry (staff can help with washing, then pick up at the front desk), and daily necessities (razors, facial cleanser, etc.). You can scan a QR code by the bed in your room to select the daily necessities you need, and a robot will deliver them to your room door. The Tmall Genie in the room is very smart, and the entire hotel uses a shared Wi-Fi with super-fast internet speed. I suggest replacing the three washing machines and three dryers in the laundry room directly with six washer-dryer combos. Number all six machines, and then, as it is now, guests could check the laundry status on their room TV. It would also be good to add doorbells and hangable 'do not disturb' signs outside the guest rooms. The hotel has six EV charging stations. Although they are all slow chargers, charging overnight doesn't affect travel the next day. If you're going to see a show at Daiwangfu, I personally recommend driving, as it's impossible to get a taxi in the ancient city after 11 PM. In that case, you can take bus #2 (Night 2) and get off at 'Bus Company 4' stop, then walk 5-8 minutes to the hotel. There's also a small farewell gift!

The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the ancient city. For dining: Xi Jin Dao is downstairs, Fenglin Pavilion is a 10-minute walk, and Long Juxiang offers delivery directly to your phone. Every time we took a taxi back to the inn, we'd get off at Huayan Hotel and walk two minutes. The popular Heshengcai is a 10-minute walk (though the taste was just so-so, and none of the pastries even had an ingredient list). For sights: Huayan Temple is a 5-minute walk. I visited Shanhua Temple at night, which was about a 15-minute walk. During the May Day holiday, there were only about 10 people in the entire temple at night, so we could enjoy a peaceful visit. On the way back and forth, we also saw the city wall's light show and passed through a lantern festival. Rumeng Datong (Dreams of Datong) was also within walking distance. Service was great too. On our last day, we had to leave for the train station at 7:30 AM, and the owner even packed breakfast for us. The lamb offal soup with vermicelli every morning was delicious. The furniture is all elm wood. The loft family room was perfect for our family of three. The only downsides were that the room rate was expensive during May Day, and the bathroom design was a bit impractical.

The room cleaning service was incredibly thorough; even the window sills and corners were spotless. The mini-bar's drinking water was of excellent quality, and Mia at the front desk was fantastic – very welcoming and helpful. The windows are well-sealed, keeping out all outside noise, ensuring a comfortable and peaceful stay.

The room was quite clean, and the facilities were in good condition, with professional service. I chose this hotel primarily because of its location right next to Datong Ancient City, offering great views and convenient access. It also has a parking lot, and the restaurant's dishes are quite distinctive with a good variety of choices. Although breakfast was average and lacked variety, it was nutritionally balanced and met basic needs. Overall, the hotel's location and the scenic views were what we were most satisfied with. The service was also very friendly and accommodating, always ready to help. The picture below is a photo of the ancient city taken from the room with a regular phone...

The room is spacious and bright, with a balcony. Both rooms have TVs and air conditioning. Parking is available. It is very quiet. It is more than 10 minutes' drive from Datong Ancient City. It is a quiet place in a bustling city. It is a four-person room. Slippers and bath towels are configured for two people. I guess they can provide them if you ask for them. It doesn't matter. It is a very good B&B.

This hotel is indeed worth boasting, write you a good review of a sense of truth: Five-star praise 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Staying at Jianguo Huicui Datong Pingcheng Hotel is a very pleasant experience and must give a good review! Excellent location: The hotel is in the core area of Pingcheng District. It is very convenient to go to Datong Ancient City, Huayan Temple, and Jiulong Wall. It is also convenient to eat and shop around. It is easy to take a taxi or bus. The room exceeded expectations: as a collection series, the decoration style is very design, integrating the local cultural elements of Shanxi, both modern and stylish. The room is spacious and bright, the bedding is comfortable, the hygiene is very meticulous, the sound insulation effect is also good, and the rest is very stable at night. Service warm heart: From entering the door to checking out, the front desk and room service staff are very warm and professional, respond quickly, and also take the initiative to introduce the surrounding play and food recommendations, which makes people feel very intimate. Rich breakfast: Chinese and Western styles, complete varieties, and some local characteristics can be eaten, opening a good mood for the day. Overall, whether it is a business trip or a trip to Datong, this hotel is a very cost-effective choice. Next time I come to Datong, I will give priority to it! If you want to adjust your style (such as shorter, more literary, or highlight a specific aspect), tell me and I will help you change it.

Had a fantastic stay! We booked the 'sky-light room,' which was very quiet, allowing us to sleep soundly until morning. The front desk attendant was incredibly warm and helpful; she brought ice packs for my wife's sprained ankle and even lent us a charging cable. The guesthouse is conveniently located directly across from the old town city wall entrance, where you can climb up for free to enjoy panoramic views of the ancient city.

I usually prefer staying at established local hotels when I travel, as they often have better locations and prices compared to international chains. I stayed here for two days, and the breakfast selection was extensive, they delivered fresh fruit to the room daily, and the room hygiene was excellent. The staff were also very friendly. A special shout-out to the bespectacled uncle who served lamb offal soup and fried eggs at the breakfast entrance – his service was exceptionally good, and he enthusiastically encouraged us to try the lamb offal soup, which tasted great. Hygiene: Excellent Service: Excellent

I truly found an amazing guesthouse, no exaggeration. Due to work, I booked this guesthouse close to my trip, and even then, I had to reschedule twice with the guesthouse because of work and flight issues, which made me feel quite embarrassed… Also, this time I was traveling with elderly family members, and there were only two flights a day from Shanghai to Datong, both of which were delayed. The guesthouse proactively offered to pick us up from the airport, arriving an hour early and picking us up around 10 PM. They even tried to find us something to eat along the way – so touching!! Furthermore, the guesthouse is located in the old town, which is incredibly convenient. Restaurants and attractions are all within walking distance, and even slightly further away places like Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple are only about a 20-minute walk away! The rooms themselves are equipped with smart voice control. It can be a bit dry in winter, so they even provided a humidifier. There's underfloor heating under the tatami mats, and during my two-day stay, even at around -14 degrees Celsius, it wasn't cold at all! Seriously, blindly choosing this guesthouse online was absolutely fantastic! I've already recommended it to my friends, and I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip! Finally, I wish the guesthouse great success!

Facilities: Everything you could possibly need. Private bathroom, automatic curtains, smart toilet, powerful hairdryer, and a large projection screen. Cleanliness: Absolutely spotless, not a spec of dust anywhere. Environment: It's located in an upscale residential area, with restaurants and attractions nearby. There's a digital access control system and free parking. Plus, it's pet-friendly, and the four-story space is very spacious. Service: The owner is incredibly kind. The breakfast served daily is delicious, and when they bought watermelon, they even cut some for me. They also recommended local specialties and the best routes to nearby attractions. Overall, I think this is the most unique guesthouse I've ever stayed in. It has a lively atmosphere without feeling awkward, and the entire experience was incredibly comfortable and immersive.

The room was very clean, and it was in the ancient city of Datong. It was very convenient to go shopping by yourself. The check-in method was convenient. The staff was very caring. Because I had to get up in the middle of the night to buy tickets at the queue attractions, I prepared boiled eggs for me and sent seabuckthorn juice. I think it’s just like at home. It’s very comfortable. I forgot to bring skin care products. The aunt on duty also lent me skin care products. She said that Datong was very dry and let me take care of my skin. Next time I come to Datong, I will stay here! (The picture and text have nothing to do, I forgot to take photos of the homestay, but because of the store’s help and caring, I can rest for two days and play nine attractions, it’s worth it! !)

This B&B was so wonderful that we extended our stay for another day. The owner was so welcoming and attentive. The night before we left, they double-checked our departure time. At first, I thought they were checking out and preparing to welcome the next guest. The next morning, we went downstairs around 8:00 AM, and the owner was waiting for us at the front desk. She said she was worried we'd leave early, so she'd been waiting downstairs since around 7:00 AM. We were all deeply touched. Thank you for your warm hospitality these past few days. I highly recommend this place!

I found my favorite hotel of this trip! My trip was spontaneous, and I decided to visit Datong last minute. I booked the hotel hastily, primarily based on its aesthetics and location. After checking in, my experience exceeded my expectations! It's incredibly beautiful and stylish, blending modern design with the ancient charm I anticipated in Datong. The most important thing was the excellent service. Since I didn't plan ahead, on my first day, the front desk staff, Vivian, Tongtong, and Xiaoyu, helped me plan my itinerary for sightseeing, dining, and entertainment, offering tons of suggestions and information. The super lovely proprietress even helped me find a highly professional tour guide for my visit to the Yungang Grottoes the next day! (Having previously visited the Longmen Grottoes and Gaxian Cave, I wanted to connect the historical dots with the Yungang Grottoes, and I was so glad to have such an academic and professional guide who could delve deep into any questions I had). Everyone was warm and attentive! Highly, highly recommend!

We came to Datong this time and stayed at Yundu Hotel for three days. When I first came on the first day, I made a little comment to the hotel. At that time, we didn't take the initiative to tell the front desk, but wrote it on the information book on the bedside. We didn't want to take the initiative to say things in the past. The next day, the cleaning staff saw our message, and took the initiative to give us feedback in the form of a small note, and have been waiting for us to come back at the hotel to give us face-to-face feedback on the improvement. Very interesting experience, the hotel location is really good, very close to the ancient city, very close to many performance places.

This homestay is located on the east side of the ancient city of Datong. It is a relatively new area with a much smaller building density than the old area in the west. The building is very exquisite, many angles can be filmed, I especially like the porch. When we lived, we happened to encounter a small exhibition of Tangka. I can't think of Tangka and the tonality of the homestay itself. The room is very good, there is a small hall to eat and put things, the bedding in the bedroom is moved, and it is easy to sleep two adults and two children. Cleaning is very good. At check-in, the waiter will wipe the dirt on the wheel of the suitcase. You have to change slippers or wear socks directly into the room area. Smart toilets are also a plus. The fly in the ointment is that there seems to be a nightclub next to it? There are bass piercings in at around 11 o'clock.

✅ Jianye Yisu B&B - Private Hot Spring & Designer Hotel 📍 Location: Right in the heart of the ancient city, directly opposite Shanhua Temple. It’s super convenient to walk to the city wall and Huayan Temple. Perfect for exploring historical sites in winter without too much back-and-forth. 🏨 Ambiance: A dark-themed designer hotel with cool concrete and metal lines. The whole place feels very upscale, and every corner is photo-worthy! 📸 ♨️ Experience: The room has a private hot spring tub, which was incredibly therapeutic in winter. The steam instantly relaxed me, and the privacy was excellent. 🧴 Facilities: Comfortable bedding, clean bathroom, and great attention to detail. 🍜 Surroundings: Downstairs, you'll find restaurants, snack shops, and convenience stores – very handy!~
