Hotels in Dongxin Square, Datong

The rooms and bedding are up to the usual Intercity standard, which is fine. However, the service was really poor. To be honest, I stayed for two nights; the first night was over 700 yuan, and the second was over 600 yuan. I understand it's a holiday, but for that price, I expect at least the same level of service as a normal season hotel like All Seasons or Crystal, which cost only 200-300 yuan. Instead, I paid that much and still had to put up with the front desk's attitude. I checked in on the afternoon of the 19th. The oldest lady at the front desk – why should I have to deal with her attitude when I'm paying to stay here? I had already specified in my booking not to have a room at either end of the hallway, but she assigned me one right next to the elevator. She told me it was an upgrade, and I initially agreed. But after being in the room for a minute, I was so worried about the noise that I went back down to tell her I didn't want the upgrade and preferred a standard room, as long as it wasn't at either end. Her face immediately dropped, and she started ignoring me, refusing to talk to me. She then had a younger girl help me. That's when I realized the room I originally booked wasn't available. After waiting a while, they finally found another room at the other end of the hall, at least not right next to the elevator. I just accepted it. The next night, she was on the night shift. They were all sitting there, laughing and chatting, I don't know what they were doing. I went over and asked if the bar's beer was drinkable. One staff member told me it was out of order, even though the day before, we both heard another guest being told it was fine to drink. I thought I'd just try it out once since I was checking out the next morning. It was very disappointing. I've stayed at Intercity hotels in other cities before, and the service was never like this. It's a holiday, and I understand you're busy. But I've paid good money, so why do I have to put up with your attitude? Oh, and when I checked out, another staff member took my room card without even looking up. She asked how my stay was, and I said it was okay. She just said 'good' and that was it, still without looking up. They didn't even offer a bottle of water, let alone a farewell. Oh, and the second day we went out, the cleaning staff who tidied our room didn't restock the drinks in the fridge. I called the front desk, and they said they'd bring them up. A little while later, the cleaning staff knocked on the door and said they forgot to put them in. Throughout all this, no one seemed apologetic, and I didn't even get an 'I'm sorry.' In the bathroom, the sensor light was full of dust, and there was something black on the round hole above the sink, I don't know what it was. I found it disgusting. I saw it as soon as I looked down and wiped it off myself.

I arrived in Datong on a whim and booked this hostel last minute. I stayed in the 12-bed dorm which is a large dorm with a small table and chairs, lockers, a sink to brush your teeth/wash your face and a private bathroom (with a hot water shower and toilet). The beds were comfy and have curtains and the airconditioning is strong. WiFi works well too. The dorm and the bathroom are cleaned every day. The hostel provides face towels, earplugs, toothbrushes and toilet paper. There is a comfortable lounge area just outside of the dorms. It is really a great hostel, but there is one negative aspect, the private bathroom: the glass is semi-see through (which isn’t too bad since there are just women in the room), but it lets through all the noise and light. So when somebody goes to the toilet and turns on the light the whole room lights up which even with the curtains closed will disturb your sleep. Also, the toilet flush is very loud so every time somebody flushes the toilet it can be heard through the entire room which again disturbs sleep. If you’re a deep sleeper or don’t mind wearing ear plugs then I can definitely recommend the hostel!

The hotel is conveniently located just outside the old city, and the pickup point for day tours is also very close. The decor is very new and the facilities are good. They provide complimentary fruit every day and unlimited bottled water. However, the underfloor heating was too strong, and it felt a bit stiflingly hot in the room. 😳

This hotel offers great value for money, with an excellent location, especially for visiting the old town and other attractions, and for shopping. The hotel staff are very attentive and helpful, always ready to assist. Although the breakfast selection is small, it covers all the essentials and everything tastes delicious 😋. Their Datong特色刀削面 (specialty knife-cut noodles) are also well-made. There's even a 'surprise egg' in the room where you can redeem various great prizes (we won an extra hour for late check-out!). Definitely worth a visit.

Chose this newly opened Cat's Horizon for my trip and it was a great choice! No regrets here. The environment is excellent, with a spacious and bright lobby and rooms. The decor details are really well done. The cleanliness is reassuring, and the service is on point; check-in was fast, and any issues were addressed promptly. Being a new establishment, it offers great value for money. Definitely my top pick for accommodation when traveling!

The hotel's location is superb; it's the perfect choice for exploring the old city, with all the sights and great food nearby. The hotel is very clean, the restaurant food is delicious, and the staff provide excellent service. As I was traveling alone and wanted to try local specialties, the staff kindly reduced the portion sizes, which was great – tasty and no waste! The room facilities are new, but there's a minor issue: the sink and shower are in separate areas, and the bath towels are kept under the sink. This makes it inconvenient to grab a towel after showering. If you take it into the shower beforehand, there's nowhere to hang it. Perhaps a hook could be added?

Of all the hotels I've stayed in, this was the most heartwarming experience I've ever had. The hotel's housekeeping staff, Sister Zhang Chundi, were incredibly kind. My child wasn't feeling well the night before and was in bed the next morning. When Sister Zhang came to deliver bedtime snacks, she noticed my child was unwell and brought ginger tea and a foot bath with lots of safflower and mugwort for me to soak my child in. Sister Zhang also told me about their laundry service for children, and I happily gave her my clothes. Later, I learned that she hand-washed each garment, explaining that it wasn't good to put children's clothes in the washing machine. I was amazed; the service was so thoughtful and attentive that I almost felt bad. The hotel bathrooms also had laundry detergent for guests' convenience, and the room service was incredibly affordable, some dishes even cheaper than those at restaurants outside—it was truly generous.

I traveled with a friend, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations! The room was spotless, with no strange odors, and the bedding was soft. Xiao Ke at the front desk handled check-in efficiently and provided excellent service. The hotel's location is super easy to find, and the interior environment is quiet. Facilities are well-maintained, and the hot water supply is stable. The staff are polite. It's suitable for both short trips and as a stopover for road trips. Definitely worth choosing.

The room is super spacious, well-equipped, and offers great value for money. It's perfectly fine for a family of four! Plus, it's convenient for getting around, and there are many delicious local food options nearby. What truly deserves more praise, though, is the hotel's service: 1. Due to a flight delay, we arrived too late for the hotel pickup. They thoughtfully provided a fruit platter and had the sofa bed already made up. Receiving such a warm welcome from the Datong locals immediately upon our exhausted arrival really helped alleviate the travel fatigue. 2. Every staff member at the hotel greeted us appropriately whenever we met, and they were always quick to assist and resolve any needs we had. There were even complimentary bottled water available in the elevator area. My stay experience was perfect. 3. After checking out, I accidentally left some clothes behind. The hotel promptly contacted me and arranged for them to be couriered to my next destination. The handling was efficient and flawless. If I ever come back to Datong, I'll definitely choose this place again, and I'll recommend it to all my friends!

This one exceeded my expectations. The price of the hotel chain in Datong is very expensive, this price is not expensive, and I stayed for one night with the idea of trying it out, far exceeding expectations. The hotel is very new, the facilities are very good, the sound insulation, hygiene, bedding are OK, and a little bit of new decoration is acceptable. The front desk service attitude is also very good and professional. Breakfast is also very satisfactory. Will choose to live again.
