A Wonderful Stay at Songzhuju Hotel! We stayed at the Songzhuju Hotel for 6 nights and were thoroughly delighted with both the accommodation and the city of Lijiang. Even before our arrival, we felt the genuine care from the staff. Ah Fei contacted us in advance and arranged a transfer from the railway station the day before check-in. Upon arrival, he welcomed us with a traditional tea ceremony and treats, gave us a helpful overview of the hotel, and shared useful information about the city via WeChat. Ah Fei was always available and ready to assist with any questions. In fact, the entire hotel staff was incredibly pleasant and friendly. The hotel itself is excellent. We loved its location within the Ancient City, not far from the North Gate. This made it easy and quick to walk out to the main road to catch a taxi (since vehicles are not allowed inside the Ancient City), while still being immersed in the old town atmosphere. Importantly, it wasn’t in the busiest tourist hub—there were no crowds right next to the hotel, and it was quiet in the evenings and at night. Our room was a two-level family room, very cozy, clean, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, crisp white linens, and daily housekeeping. We also liked the breakfast—a traditional Chinese set menu (not a buffet)—which was delicious and authentic. I’d also like to share some thoughts on Lijiang itself. Initially, we planned to spend only 4 days here, but due to issues with our hotel in Dali, we left it earlier and extended our stay in Lijiang—and we were so glad we did it! Lijiang is absolutely charming. Even 6 days weren’t enough to fully explore it. Beyond the obvious pleasure of wandering through the Ancient City, I highly recommend: - Trip to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Tinghua Valley Lijiang Flowers—an incredibly beautiful botanical garden with fairy-tale views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain - Visit Shuhe Ancient Town - Climbing up to Wangu Tower on Lion Hill in the Ancient City for sunset views. We explored all these places independently, booking DiDi rides and purchasing entrance tickets via Trip.com. However, if needed, Ah Fei can help organizing any tours. Also, if you’re not planning to continue toward Shangri-La, I strongly recommend taking a day trip from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge. The best option is the trek from Halfway Guesthouse to Tina’s Guesthouse (or Teacher Zhang’s Guesthouse). This hike was probably the most memorable highlight of my entire month-long trip to China—the views are simply breathtaking. In summary, we absolutely enjoyed both: the region and the hotel, where we were able to have very comfortable rest after busy days filled with excursions and long walks. Huge thanks to the entire staff!

Really great stay at Mulanyu Tangsu Hotel! 🤍 The room was beautiful and had a traditional tatami-style bed with heating, which made it incredibly comfortable, especially during the cooler evenings. The room was also clean and the amenities were complete. The receptionist was another highlight. He was really helpful and immediately sent us recommendations for places to visit via WeChat, complete with map locations. He also helped arrange our transfer from the train station to the hotel, which made arriving much easier. One thing to keep in mind is the location. The hotel is situated on top of a hill, so while it is accessible by car, walking around without transportation means dealing with quite a lot of stairs. Your legs will definitely know you stayed in Lijiang 😂 The hotel is around a 15-minute walk from the Big Water Wheel in Lijiang Ancient Town, although the walk involves stairs. There’s also a convenience store nearby, which is handy. Overall, a lovely and comfortable stay with great hospitality. I’d definitely recommend it if you don’t mind the stairs!

Our stay at this hotel was truly delightful. From the moment we arrived, the manager, Xiao Liew, made us feel right at home with his warm hospitality. He welcomed us with tea and shared his expertise on Yunnan tea, guiding us through the different varieties and helping us find ones we truly enjoyed. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to assist. The property itself was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. Its location is also a major plus—just a short stroll from Lijiang Ancient Town, making it easy to explore the surroundings. Xiao Liew’s recommendations for nearby dining were spot on. Each restaurant he suggested offered delicious meals that our family of three thoroughly enjoyed We are grateful to Xiao Liew and his team for making our stay so memorable. We would gladly return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area

Nestled on Lion Hill, this hotel boasts an exceptional view overlooking the entire Old Town of Lijiang. The environment and facilities are excellent, with a simple yet stylish decor and comfortable mattresses. The owner is also very kind and offers airport transfer services. This was the most satisfying part of our trip, highly recommended!

We stayed at YinYue·Sifu Designer Scenic Inn during our trip to Lijiang. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and a great choice if you want to experience the atmosphere of Lijiang Old Town. Location: The location is convenient for exploring the Old Town on foot, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops, and photo spots nearby. Room & atmosphere: The property has a beautiful traditional-style atmosphere with modern touches. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough for a family. The surroundings are also very photogenic and give you the feeling of actually staying inside Lijiang Old Town. Good for families: We traveled with both a young child and a 69-year-old family member. For children and adults, getting around was generally easy and comfortable. Important tip for elderly travelers: The streets inside Lijiang Old Town are mostly uneven stone-paved roads. For elderly travelers, walking to the hotel can be a little challenging. Our 69-year-old family member found the walk more difficult, so this is something to keep in mind if you are traveling with seniors or anyone with limited mobility. However, you do not need to carry or drag your luggage through the Old Town yourself. There is a local luggage delivery service available for around 20 RMB per trip. You can leave your luggage with them and simply walk to the hotel without carrying anything, then wait for your luggage to be delivered. This made things much easier for us. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for couples, families with children, and travelers who want to stay inside Lijiang Old Town. If you are traveling with elderly family members, the stone-paved streets are worth considering, but the luggage delivery service makes the journey much more manageable. A beautiful and convenient base for exploring Lijiang Old Town. 🏮✨

The Wi-Fi on the first floor was incredibly bad, and there was a wall obstructing the view, which wasn't great. However, the breakfast area on the fourth floor offered scenic views. I understand this might be due to the hotel's location, so if this is a deal-breaker for you, please keep it in mind. The owner was very nice, constantly checking in with us before our arrival and even helping us book tickets and recommending local specialties and bars when needed.

So pleased I chose to stay here. The location is perfect for exploring. The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They kindly upgraded me to a bigger room when I arrived and gave me a tour of the facilities. The have a tea room, washing facilities and also a gorgeous rooftop. I’ve included a photo of the rooftop. The bed was so comfy and I loved the seating area, it was the perfect place to stay while I enjoyed my time in Lijiang. It’s closest to the North Gate for DiDi or if you need to be collected for a tour. Also, the owner was very kind and helped organise a trolley to help with my luggage when I sadly had to leave. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Facilities: All top-notch, you'll know once you're there. Hygiene: The stay itself is an experience, five-star standard. Environment: Just look at the pictures, no need to say much more. Service: The owner is very kind, warm, and attentive. You can ask them for help with anything. I even had them book show tickets for me, which was super convenient and affordable. Airport/Station pick-up: Everything you could possibly need. Honestly, from before check-in, during the stay, and even after check-out, the overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommend it to everyone!

I did like the place! For me it was a perfect location! And the view from the room was unbeatable. You don't need to look for a restaurant with a view, it is right in you room. But the hotel is up the hill so you'll need to walk up the stairs. Guys helped with the luggage, and I'm so grateful 🙏 but Lijiang Old Town is love at first sight ❤️

I had a wonderful stay at Shile Hot Spring. The location is very convenient, right inside the ancient town and only about 5 minutes from the entrance. The host provided excellent hospitality by helping to carry our luggage using a motor tricycle. Not only that, the host was also kind enough to give us a ride on the tricycle, which made the experience even more memorable and fun. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and very nice. From the hotel, you can easily walk around and explore the ancient town. Nearby the entrance, there is also a 7-Eleven, and right in front of it you can rent a motorcycle conveniently. The host is very responsive and always willing to assist if you have any questions or need help during your stay. Every single penny spent here is truly worth it because of the great service and comfortable environment. Highly recommended, and I would definitely stay here again. Salam from Malaysia 🇲🇾
