Interesting stay! I wasn't sure about the girl on reception as she didn't give me my suitcase at first, when I collected my bags. However, I just remembered I saw a ticket on the floor so she must have dropped it and I didn't realise it was mine! 😂 Sorry. My room key and TV had minor issues on my second night and the lift is a bit rickety. However, overall a pleasant stay for the price: decent location, clean, compact and cute room and okay breakfast (in a beautifully decorated little room with attentive staff). In fact the staff were all great really and are polite. So, I recommend. Thank you.

The morning after our first night my friend and I noticed a bug crawling on one of the beds, we continued our investigation and noticed DOZENS of those crawling all over the twin beds we just spent the night in. We were exhausted the night before after coming back to hotel late and after having shower just jumped straight into beds - who would have thought we weren’t they only ones spending night in those beds! Quick research after our findings and we realised that those were BEDBUGS! Never in my life had I come across anything like this before, not even after being a student and staying at questionable hostels! We reported this to the reception and were offered another room. We didn’t move immediately in the morning and made an agreement that we would move in the evening when we would be back to the hotel. Coming back in the evening and reporting to the reception for a new room, we found one of the evening staff being rude to us and questioning if the bedbugs were from their hotel (like what?!?!?!?). Simple, we said, because we had photo and video evidence of bedbugs crawling all over the beds, we said! This quickly ended her argument with us. We then moved to our new room, where there was no obvious evidence of bedbug infestation, however being a reportedly new room, we found hair all over the floor in the bathroom of that allegedly “cleaned” new room. Unfortunately, being an extremely sensitive to cleanness person and following the events of the previous night, I decided to leave early and not spent another night in this disgusting hotel. My friend, who had a flight early next morning however had no chance and spend a little longer and left at 04am. The evening I decided to leave I started coming out in rash, which had only been getting worse ever since. The intensity of the itch is like nothing I’d ever experienced before - it stops me from sleeping, it drives me absolutely mad, no matter how much I try, one can’t look professional when they have bite marks all over their body, including the face, ears, neck, fingers, hands, forearms - ie areas one can’t cover up - and needing to constantly scratch herself! This obviously has affected my work! And the itch is no better even 6 days later!! In fact, the bite marks are now swollen, causing swelling of my fingers, the scratch marks are now bleeding and I am the most irritated I’ve ever been! Let me emphasise, this is six days later and I genuinely don’t know how much longer I’m yet to suffer! I have obviously filed a complaint and have been contacted by the hotel - they are “kindly” offering to compensate the cost of my medication (as I am now on antihistamines - which don’t work really, as I can’t take the stronger type due to its sedating effect, as I have to continue working and driving; as well as steroid cream) and the cost of my dry cleaning. HOWEVER, despite multiple email exchanges and telephone consultations, they are not planning to refund a 100% of our payment, the argument being

The Dilly was probably amazing in the 1980's and 1990's but not much has been updated since then! We stayed in a Dilly Classic room which was perfectly fine, a good size, clean with strong Wifi. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water. I know some people on this site weren't impressed by the breakfast but I thought it was great. Obviously, the location is fabulous. However, I didn't feel the room was up to five-star standard. The coffee was instant and the milk small UHT cartons. There was no fridge or mini-bar (though we were in the 'cheapest' room so may be different elsewhere). The toiletries were cheap and basic (so bring your own), there was no plug by the bed to charge devices overnight and no Blu-tooth speaker which seems to be a given now in higher-end hotels. The style of the room itself was quite dated including the landline next to the toilet which I'm sure was incredibly cool in 1986 :) Overall, if this was a three-or-four-star hotel I'd give it full marks, but as it's a five-star, (and more importantly charging five-star prices), it's lacking in some areas. I believe the hotel is currently 'between owners' which makes sense, as I guess the current owners don't want to invest and are ticking along until the new ones take over. It's not dreadful by any means, but they charge a lot for what you get.

We had a lovely stay at St Giles, London. Well located hotel, near to Tottenham Court Road Station, bus stops, supermarkets, shops, eateries, theatres etc. From Heathrow Airport, we took the Elizabeth line to Tottenham Court Road Station and hotel was just a short walk away. The British museum was also nearby. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. As we arrived rather early, Nikki helped us to secure a room earlier than official check in time, so that we can put our luggages and rest. The concierge guys were great, giving advice on how best to get to our destination. The Chinese gentleman, sorry, I didn't get his name, even helped me with my Bolt app bookings! We booked 2 new twin rooms. Although they were small, they were sufficient for 2 pax in each room. All amenities that we needed were available and rooms were cleaned thoroughly when we returned from our sightseeing. There was no air conditioner in the rooms but weather was great, so we had no issues. The breakfast served was excellent, with a wide variety. Good choice for our short stay in London.

Well located near Westminster Bridge and the London Eye, easy walking to main tourist areas. Room was very clean, although sofa area a little dark. Full wall windows gave a wonderful view over Waterloo Station and South London towards The Shard. Breakfast Buffet was reasonable, filling, and a good variety of breakfast choices. Altogether a reasonably good hotel.

We use Royal National each time we visit London which can be a few times a year, in the beginning for location, (its a 5 min walk from Russell Square tube station, 10 mins from the British museum and 15 mins from Oxford Street) but now for its cleanliness and friendliness of the staff, this time we had a complimentary upgrade into a fresh new updated room, the beds are always comfortable and the room is always extremely clean nothing is a problem for the cleaning team and extras such as tea milk etc is always provided as soon as requested. The onsite pub is also a plus offering meals aswell as an outdoor seating area with large screen tv this time showing the euro matches, it wasnt loud or rowdy and being at the back of the hotel we heard nothing. We will continue to use the hotel for each visit we make to London.

Only 1 - 2 min walk from Russell Square Underground station. Comfortable bed and room is ok to fit in 2 adults and 1 kid. However there were insufficient room for us to open our luggage. We had to open the luggage one after one to take out our clothes. No drinking water was provided hence we had to buy from convenience store and carried back to hotel. Good thing is Tesco is only opposite the underground station. Wish to suggest to provide adequate trainings to front desk staff. When we checked in we were informed that our booking was canceled. (I have fully paid for the room upon booking) I showed to the staff the booking details but she still insisted our booking has been canceled, instead she asked me to call to the agent and get the agent to contact the hotel. I had no choice but to “follow her instructions” to do so. After 10 min trying to contact the agent (due to different time zone), the front desk staff called me “madam” many times from her counter (it was about 300m away and I was not aware that she was calling me), and told me that she has found my booking. When I asked the reason why initially the booking was canceled but now it was found, she did not answer me but to pass me the room key. After checked in to the room, noticed that both the lamps near the bed were not functioning and we called to front desk (only 1 light in front of the washroom was working). We were informed that the one who is able to fix it has left and we had to wait till the next morning to get the lamps fixed. Eventually they sent us a table lamp for that night.

My husband and I stayed at the Alhambra Hotel for two weeks - our sixth stay since 2008. The Alhambra earns our five-star rating by ticking all the boxes: perfect location near St. Pancras/King's Cross rail stations; comfortable, clean, and well-maintained; friendly and helpful staff; convenient amenities including taxis arranged to and from the airports and discount tour tickets; and reasonable rates. We really enjoy being able to count on the Alhambra as our ”home away from home” as we hop on the Tube or bus to explore London, or take the train for day trips such as Blenheim Palace. We’ll be back!

Pros: Location is good, 5-7mins walk from king cross station and st. Pancras. Easy access to many places. Staff is friendly. Rooms are clean. Safe as you need card to go into the lift to your room. Cons: Luggage storage is chargeable. Water pressure is low thus will need longer time to shower. Room are not sound proof. Door doesn’t have stopper, thus it slams everytime. Definitely recommend to stay!

The experience was pretty good, but they do not provide any amenities inside the room, even drinking water was not there inside the room
