This hotel is suitable for an overnight stay if you're catching an early flight after a Kinabatangan River cruise. The room was a bit dark, but everything else was fine. It has a cabin-style vibe with a small garden and a tiny pool. As for breakfast, it's just like a standard budget hotel breakfast, so don't expect too much. The staff were very enthusiastic. The nearby Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) is very close and worth a visit, and you can also book a night tour there. As for the Sun Bear Conservation Centre and the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, honestly, only go if you're really bored and have money to spare! Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform) really misleads people; anyone who goes will regret it. Once you've been, you'll truly understand the quality of the zoos back home. The Sun Bear Centre just cages a few bears. The orangutan centre is no different: everyone sits in a glass enclosure watching a group of monkeys (not orangutans!) eat bananas and vegetables on an outdoor platform – basically watching them ”mukbang.” Then you watch a few orangutans ”mukbang” on another open-air platform. We couldn't bear to watch it. After seeing how wild animals live on the Kinabatangan River, these scenes were just unbearable.

Been while check in here. Totally satisfied. All the staf always smile and make us comfort. Also the cleaness 5 star rate. All utilities also prepared. Always recommeded. Thank you.

The air conditioning wasn't cold, the room had a musty smell, and the hallway leading to the room was as hot as a sauna.”

Alonto Hotel was a gamble for us flying from Australia, a gamble that paid off. AUD 44.00/night for two rooms (connecting) and a bathroom (very small toilet and shower combined). Air con was deliciously cold, beds were firm and comfy, pillows good too. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location couldn’t be beat. We overlooked the heart of Sandakan which meant walking distance to local restaurants, markets and the heritage trai. Highly recommend this hotel if you are seeking budget accommodation in the heart of beautiful Samdakan.

Clean hotel. Comfortable. Close to restaurants, so it's easy to find food. Mydin is only about 3-4km away.

Affordable place for a private and really spacious room. Super close to town so easy to walk around to explore. Just a 2 min walk from the ocean front which also held local markets a few times a week.

The room is ok... in good condition.. even the receptionists are all very friendly... just the door of the hotel room is a little hard to open🤣 overall everything is ok.. will come back again..

Good location, much better prices if you book in person but for high season better to book beforehand. Quiet if facing the back.

This hotel is located at almost the outskirts of town and very convenient if u wanna go anywhere to eat. No snacks or drinks like coffee or tea inside the room, gotta buy it downstairs But the best thing about this old hotel was the stairs, classic style.
