AAnonymous UserA wonderful hotel in York, just a 10-minute walk from the Minster. We loved the charming local bakery next door—fresh bread and delicious coffee every morning were a real treat. The host was incredibly friendly and gave us great tips on what to see around the city. The highlight was the well-equipped pantry, which made it easy to store food and prepare light meals during our stay. We’ll definitely be back!

GGuest UserThe Galtres... A perfect place to stay in York. Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station.
Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor.
Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out.
Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though.
I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

PP. MaThe reception staff were very friendly and helpful, allowing us to check in early. The room was quite spacious, very clean, and beautifully decorated. Hotel security was excellent, and the facilities were complete, including air conditioning and a small bedside lamp for reading. The hotel's location is convenient, close to the train station, some historical sites, supermarkets, and restaurants.

HHuanyanzyAt 1700 [currency unit] a night, this was already the cheapest of the four hotels we stayed at in the UK. York's overall cost of living is much lower than Edinburgh and London. It was a family room with one double bed and two very small sofa beds. The hotel is by the river and is an older building. The room window was right next to one of the sofa beds and had cobwebs on it. I was a bit afraid of bugs crawling in if I opened it. There was no air conditioning; it wasn't hot outside that day, but it was quite warm inside due to poor ventilation, so I slept with the fan on.

MMayneNI had a really lovely stay here. The hostel is in a great location, very close to the city centre and easy to reach on foot. The building itself is beautiful, cosy and full of character, with a charming old-fashioned feel.
The cleanliness was 10/10 for me. Considering that it is a hostel with people constantly coming and going, I was genuinely impressed by how clean everything was, especially compared with other hostels I have stayed in.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the common area is comfortable and cosy. There is no kitchen, but breakfast is available in the morning at a reasonable price.
There can be a little noise from the street outside, but overall this is an excellent place to stay. I would especially recommend it to women travelling solo. I felt safe and comfortable during my stay.
One extra tip: don’t spend your whole trip only in the city. If you are visiting between May and September, take one of the longer local bus routes towards the coast. The journey itself is beautiful, with wonderful countryside and coastal views, and it is a great way to see another side of the area.
I would definitely stay here again.

SSteven DowsonBeautiful old pub located on the main road into York from the south. Car parking at the rear. Takes about twenty minutes to walk to the Minster and the route takes you past Clifford's Tower & The Shambles. The room was very clean & tidy, decorated simply & tastefully. Shower was hot and efficient. We slept well although we prefer a firmer bed. The pub is on a main road but it was quiet during the night & we weren't disturbed by visitors to the bar (we stayed on a Thursday). Good beer, I had a pint of Wainwright's Gold. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay again, much better to support a local business like this than the big brands. My wife is Chinese and wanted a Chinese breakfast, we found a place called Noodle Lane about ten minutes walk from the hotel, it was expensive but authentic.

WWing SzeThe room I booked is a family room. Spacious. In addition to a king size bed, there is one more single bed on the side. Room is clean and staff are friendly. Location is close to the city centre, within a few minutes walking distance. Next to the hotel is a restaurant. You have all you need nearby.
However it doesn’t provide parking and WiFi comes with a charge. I chose this hotel because it says parking is available on Trip.com. But it turns out not. This part Is a bit disappointed.

Ddashv1llWe had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.

The entrance is difficult to find, there is no receptionist, and the code sent via email does not work. You have to call to ask for it. If you are a foreigner and do not have a local number, the call fee is very expensive. The staff's accent is not British or American, which is very difficult to understand. I could not understand the numbers until a neighbor came to help me listen. Overall, it is not okay.
