Very Good
GGuest UserThere are many small roads to drive to the hotel. It gets dark early in winter, but fortunately there are not many cars. When you arrive at the hotel, you will feel refreshed. The environment is very good and the hotel layout is also very tasteful. The bed is soft but supportive, and it is comfortable to sleep. The breakfast restaurant has a beautiful view and several breakfast options are available.
Mmarco1855Me and partner stayed at the milner for one evening,
The hotel inside is lovely and very clean
The staff are very helpful and polite.
The room we stayed in was in the sidings and although not in the main part of the hotel it was quite nice for our short stay and the corridor from the main hotel to the sidings is very helpful and protects you from the weather especially in the colder months.
We will definitely stay again and hopefully get to stay in the main hotel building next time round.
GGuest UserLovely period hotel. When I arrived at the hotel no one was at reception which I found out was because poor Nadia was having to do everything. I had to come down later and inform her that I had parked my car in the car park (nb £14/day). The room was lovely big and clean. Do be aware though there is no lift and there are additional steps to get to the room and our room had 2 steps to get to the en-suite. The shower was massive. There was no tea bags, and only 2 coffee pods with no explanation whether they were decaf or not. The tv remote would not switch the tv on or off. There were 2 bottles of water in the room but they needed to be paid for £2.50 each. For the price we paid for the hotel in advance too I feel we should have had more/better amenities in the room.
AAnonymous UserGood location, short walking distance into town. Room size is comfortable for two pax. Broken shower was not informed to us when checking in. Had to shower over the bath that had no showering curtain, this made the entire toilet wet and potentially slippery. It will also be inconvenient if someone is unable to climb in and out of a bath easily.
Towels were not provided, requested via the QR code. However, after waiting awhile, we had to go down to lobby to remind the staff of our request. It was then promptly addressed.
SSteven DowsonBeautiful old pub located on the main road into York from the south. Car parking at the rear. Takes about twenty minutes to walk to the Minster and the route takes you past Clifford's Tower & The Shambles. The room was very clean & tidy, decorated simply & tastefully. Shower was hot and efficient. We slept well although we prefer a firmer bed. The pub is on a main road but it was quiet during the night & we weren't disturbed by visitors to the bar (we stayed on a Thursday). Good beer, I had a pint of Wainwright's Gold. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay again, much better to support a local business like this than the big brands. My wife is Chinese and wanted a Chinese breakfast, we found a place called Noodle Lane about ten minutes walk from the hotel, it was expensive but authentic.
AAnonymous UserWe stayed here a few years before and really enjoyed our stayed so booked to come back for our anniversary. We were in the opposite side of the building this time and it was still delightful. We really enjoyed the separation of the bathroom from the bedroom with a little study area. The place was starting to get a little run down however. There was no handle on the toilet, and one of the bathroom lights didn’t work. Toilet roll was paper thin and the lights above the bed were perfect height for hitting your head when getting in and out of bed. Other than that though he we enjoyed our stayed. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the restaurant food was delicious.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is a bit far from the city center, but it's very quiet and the surroundings are pleasant. However, the room I booked via Ctrip was, once again, road-facing, which wasn't ideal. It feels like a common issue when booking through that platform! The area around the hotel is residential, making it very comfortable.
Ddashv1llWe had a lovely stay at Diamonds Inn. We booked the Standard Suite, Ensuite 3-bed room which is located at the top floor of the building. A very quaint compact en-suite family room great for a group of friends or family. All basic amenities are there including towels, shampoo and shower gels. There’s also an electric water kettle, coffee/tea, hair dryer and a small fridge! Beds are soft and comfy. Walls are thin and may hear voices of other guests in the halls during the day but was not a major issue during our stay, mostly quiet after 10pm. Location is very convenient as its only a stones throw away from one of the famous wall entrances, a pub and restaurant across and York Minster. Host was lovely and friendly as well, called to ask if we can get an early check-in and was happy to accommodate us.
