Instead, we spent three days stressed, watched and made to feel that our dogs — and therefore we — were not welcome. We left genuinely sad that precious holiday time had been exchanged for stress and unhappiness. Before booking, we called twice to confirm the pet policy. First, we were told we could choose any room and pay a RMB 300 pet cleaning fee. On the second call, another employee contradicted this. After calls were hung up on us twice while trying to communicate in English, a staff member eventually contacted us through WeChat and confirmed in writing that we could book and pay the RMB 300 fee. When we arrived, the rules changed again. Only after showing staff their own WeChat messages and watching them argue among themselves did they finally proceed. We provided vaccination and registration documents, signed the pet agreement, paid the fee and even allowed staff to photograph our dogs. We then completed check-in, left our belongings and went out for dinner. While we were already away from the hotel, they called saying they wanted to refuse our stay because of our dogs. First they were supposedly “aggressive.” When we explained they had shown zero aggression, we were told they “looked aggressive.” Then they were supposedly too large. Their own definition was over 30 kg, while our documentation showed 28 kg. Our dogs are professionally trained, have training certificates and regularly work as models for pet products. Most importantly, there was not one aggressive incident during the entire stay. Nobody even tried to observe their real temperament before judging them. Even the employee carrying our luggage wanted to photograph them again to report them as aggressive dogs. We refused. They were simply being judged because they were Dobermans. After a long argument, the hotel finally allowed us to remain. We tried to forget the situation and enjoy our holiday. Instead, the constant surveillance began. We followed the hotel’s rules and used the isolated designated pet grass area, far away from other guests. Yet staff who spotted us from a long distance would walk over, follow us, film or photograph us, report us to management and trigger further phone calls about our supposedly “aggressive” dogs. This happened repeatedly with different employees. We felt constantly monitored, as if staff were waiting for an excuse to complain about us. The hotel’s attitude toward animals also contradicted its pet-friendly image. On a very hot day, we noticed animals in the hotel area exposed to the heat without water and appearing overheated. We contacted the hotel. Two hours later, nothing had been done. We had to call and message repeatedly before anyone even agreed to check. General service was equally disappointing. Basic requests required repeated calls and long waits. Our first room remained around 21°C even with the AC switched off or set as high as 30°C. I woke around 2 a.m. because I was so cold and we eventually had to change rooms. The replacement was supposedly another pet-friendly room, directly next door, yet its garden access was locked and it lacked the protective pet sofa cover provided in the previous room. We called three times over more than two hours asking for one because we did not want our dogs dirtying the furniture. Eventually someone arrived — with a sofa pillow. The Western breakfast was also disappointing for this level of hotel. The Chinese selection was reasonable, but the bread and pastries were poor quality. When we went, the weather was bad, and I thought it would be a very 'down' vacation. But thankfully, the hotel had some great indoor activities for both adults and kids. The little ones had a blast! Our butler, Daisy, was also incredibly thoughtful and attentive. On the third day, the weather even cleared up. The ocean and beach looked exactly like the pictures – blue water and white sand. It was perfect for travel photography. Overall, it was a very worthwhile trip, and we'll definitely come back when our baby is a little older to try out more fun activities.

Choosing The Westin Shimei Bay for our romantic getaway was absolutely the right decision, no regrets! The view from our window was breathtaking, with the blue sea and sky stretching out, and a small island faintly visible in the distance 😋. The hotel's lawns are meticulously maintained, a vast expanse of green against the blue sky and white clouds – every photo we took looked like a perfect vacation shot. My favorite spot was the striped lounge chairs on the beach; just relaxing under the coconut trees with the sea breeze, without a care in the world. Even though there were quite a few people, this feeling of relaxation was truly healing. We definitely want to come back and unwind again! ✨

Although the room is not very big, it is well designed, simple and comfortable, full of modernity. The laundry room and swimming pool in the store are good, and of course the service is great. The front desk is very enthusiastic and forced us to give two bottles of water when we checked out. The surrounding area is cozy and relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle. It is a good place for vacation. It is very close to Luwan Ranch. It is good to take children to have close contact with small animals in nature. In addition, Hainan is really a beautiful place to take pictures. You can enjoy fresh air and bright sunshine at any time. There is also a large duty-free shop nearby, which is very convenient for shopping. In short, it is a good place worth recommending.

The service attitude was excellent. They called me a day in advance to confirm my check-in details. Someone picked me up at the station and helped carry my luggage to the room. They even proactively helped me pick up a package from the快递驿站 (express delivery station). The environment is also very good. However, some service details could be improved. Firstly, they didn't proactively replenish water in the room. Secondly, the automatic lid opening on the toilet was a bit noisy. Thirdly, they forgot to provide the welcome fruit. But overall, it's highly recommended, and most of my needs were met. The sister at the coffee shop and the姐姐 (older sister/waitress) at the restaurant were both very kind and gentle with their service. They gave us two coffees and one special drink. Since there were two of us staying for four days, it would have been even better if we'd received two special drinks. I didn't get to experience the fragrance service due to time constraints, but I'll definitely try it next time I stay here.

I stumbled upon this detached villa homestay in Shimei Bay, and it just dials up the tropical romance to eleven✨. Open the window to lush greenery, and wake up to a truly healing view. The bedding is soft and clean, and the layout is spacious and comfortable – a super rejuvenating stay. The service at the homestay is incredibly thoughtful! Breakfast and aromatic coffee are all provided. Plus, you can rent electric scooters, making it easy to check out Jiuli Bookstore and Shimei Bay Beach. Chase the sea breeze and sunset by day, then fall asleep to the sound of insects and starlight by night. This is exactly the relaxed vibe a island vacation should have 🌊.

Facilities: Extremely well-equipped. The bedding was super comfortable, and they had all the essential kids' amenities. Hygiene: Spotless. I walked barefoot upon check-in and didn't feel a single speck. The pool was cleaned and skimmed daily, and the water was crystal clear with no debris. Environment: Beautiful! There's a heart-shaped pool, and the overall decor has a lovely Southeast Asian vibe. Our room's balcony opened directly onto the pool canal, which was perfect for kids to play in. Service: Every staff member was incredibly patient. They kindly upgraded our room for free when they saw we had two babies. They actively helped with our luggage and even assisted with looking after our 6-month-old baby, which was incredibly thoughtful and warm. Overall, the food and drinks were all great and perfectly suited our tastes. While it's a bit far from local attractions, it's very quiet and comfortable. This hidden gem of a guesthouse was a pleasant surprise! The experience was fantastic, and I'll definitely be back!

Opening the curtains reveals natural beauty; in the morning, the wind rustles the leaves, birds sing, cicadas chirp, and roosters occasionally crow. In this environment, you can't help but relax! A deep breath is invigorating; the air is incredibly fresh, and my nose doesn't feel uncomfortable at all. I really want to come here for a peaceful retreat when I'm old, haha. Some young guests even stay for a month at a time—they really know how to enjoy life! So idyllic! Cleanliness: The house is very well maintained, clean and tidy, with a beautiful vintage French style! Perfect for taking photos! Everywhere you look, you can take pictures! The bedding is high-quality; I can't remember what level of quality it was, but it felt very comfortable and clean. All toiletries are disposable, and the packaging matches the hotel's style. Lying in the hotel feels as pleasant as traveling. Service: This is a villa area, and the overall environment is very nice and quiet. It's a peaceful place to relax after a day of sightseeing. The villa owners and housekeepers are very kind and attentive, and they also rent electric scooters. Compared to renting electric scooters elsewhere, the ones here are of better quality, look nicer, and are great for taking photos! Guests staying here even get a discount. Last time I rented one, the front was incredibly stiff, the scooter was dilapidated, and it was so bumpy. I had to take a taxi back, which was a huge hassle. (For frequent travelers to Hainan, I highly recommend riding an electric scooter for short trips; it's really convenient, you know what I mean, haha!) Facilities: The facilities are all quite new and complete, working perfectly without any problems, and they look great too. The decor is quite tasteful, and most importantly, it's clean, quiet, comfortable, and perfect for taking photos!! Take lots of photos to document your trip, haha! Having stayed in seaside guesthouses and hotels, I can say this place offers the best value for money and a particularly good experience. It's a small villa, which I really love, and it even has a private pool. It's a pity the water was drained due to the recent typhoon; otherwise, floating in the pool and enjoying the view would have been incredibly pleasant. I just wrote a whole bunch of thoughts because of this, haha, I'm such a chatterbox! I definitely want to come back here again!

I stayed at this hotel again, and it was just as good as I remembered. The room was spacious and not cramped, and the facilities were complete, which fully met my needs. Although the hotel has been open for some years, it has been well maintained and does not feel old at all. The indoor hot spring pool is super convenient and you can soak and relax at any time; the outdoor swimming pool is super large and it is super fun to swim. I have a great experience every time I come here, and I recommend it to everyone!
