Hotels in Wuyue Plaza/Zhonghui Wanda Plaza, Xining

Pros: The hotel’s location is excellent for business travelers, with a large supermarket just 1.1 km away (within walking distance). The bed is comfortable, ensuring a good sleep throughout my 4-night stay. The facilities are well-maintained and fully functional, even though the style is a bit old-fashioned. The front desk staff are very helpful — although their English is limited, they made great efforts to assist using a translation app. Thanks to their enthusiasm, I was able to book trips to Ta’er Temple and Qilian Temple. I was really impressed by their willingness to help. breakfast and coffee are delicious .I love it. Cons: Although it’s supposed to be a non-smoking floor, it’s hard to avoid the smell of cigarette smoke.

Was told I am given a free room upgrade, but honestly I can't tell the difference. Also the room in the listing image was larger and brighter but the actual room I received was extremely rather grim looking, not to mention it doesn't even look like half the room size in the listing image. I also can't seem to adjust the aircon temp as it will remain at room temperature no matter what I set, however xining is quite cooling in general so it's still acceptable. In the room I was give, the glass panel at the washroom side had a severely cracked side which seem like it will break if I had closed the glass door too hard. I took a video immediately before using the toilet in case it really does get shattered, but luckily it did not Very unsafe nevertheless. The shower was the worst, every night I had to gamble if it will be cold or scalding hot water. I set the shower value slightly towards the warm side, and the water became scalding hot within seocnds, and if I move it to the cold side, it became freezing cold within seconds. Even if I set it exactly in the middle, it will give me either one of the extreme temperature. Had to keep adjusting from hot to cold so that it stay at a comfortable and safe temp range. The toilet bowl flush in a very stupid manner too, by first flooding the bowl from bottom up, this means that if you took a dump and it's a slightly sticky one, it's gonna stick. The electric kettle was so noisy when turned on that it sound like a train passing right beside my room. And speaking of noise, the sound proofing of the room was one of the worst of every single hotel I stayed in before. You can literally hear new occupants dragging their luggage or family chattering non stop right after they exit the lift. FYI, my room was literally the furthest away. Every time your neighbors from 3 room away turn on their tap water, you can hear it, even if that's like 4am in the night. The hairdryer is a safety hazard too. Tried to use it once and after plugging in and turning it on, smoke immediately came oozing out of it, so I immediately switched it off and remove the plug. Never used it since. Oh yes one last thing I have to say is that as a hotel PLEASE NEVER USE MOVEMENT OR VOICE CONTROLLED LIGHTINGS. While I wash up every day, I had to keep waving my hands like an ***** every few minutes in order to prevent the lights from going out. The detection is sooooo off that unless there's a huge action at the correct spot, it will not turn the lights back. This was absolutely annoyance. However the things I mentioned above are although not welcomed, but can be tolerated. Personally, the only thing I really love about this was the free tea. And that is also a highly recommended must try. I believe that's ******* black tea which is also a local specialty. I regret not trying earlier because at the latter of my trip, I no longer pass by stores that sells ******* black tea. Recommendation to the hotel is include a way to buy some of this tea. Overall, I will only recommend the hotel to someone who do not have any other choice or have a lower budget in mind.

I chose Park Plaza as it was convenient to both the train station and airport. The price was also excellent value for money. My train from Lhasa arrived at 6.30am and I caught a taxi the short distance to Park Plaza without issue. I checked in around 7am and was shown my room. It was beautiful, very spacious with a large window, and it also had a freestanding bath. Unfortunately I could smell cigarette smoke, which is not uncommon in Chinese hotels. I asked for a different room and was immediately shown one . This room was identical but the bed covers were a children's design and there were some toys and teepee in one corner . I simply folded the bright yellow covers down and had a lovely tasteful decor again. The bed was extremely comfy and the room was very quiet. The buffet was beyond excellent and the head chef and his small team were very friendly and attentive. Clearly they were very proud of their fabulous buffet and presentation....as they should be. It was my best in China.. I found a lovely walking trail behind the hotel beside the river, 5 mins away. The area in general was nice to wander around, very different from my stay in the centre of city when on my way to Tibet. I will most definitely choose Park Plaza when I return to Xining.

I thought it was a new hotel, it would be better than the average hotel. Who knows that this ”international” Mingtou is relatively large, breakfast is terrible, said to 58 people, I went to drink a bowl of millet porridge, the family said that I came back to the room in less than 5 minutes, because there is really nothing to eat, So the family who didn't go to eat free breakfast went outside to spend money to eat beef noodles. What's more exaggerated is that breakfast ends at 8:40. The first time I encountered this kind of thing for more than a month, I clearly asked others not to eat, otherwise everyone can definitely not sleep late for his breakfast. After living for a day, I decided to move to Hanting next door. The only advantage is that the room is really big!

The hotel is conveniently located not far from both the airport and train station, just a 20-minute taxi ride to Caojiapu Airport. During check-in, I even noticed flight attendants staying here, which gave me a good impression. We were traveling with elderly parents and a child, so we had booked a triple room. On the day of arrival, we called ahead and were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a family suite. It featured a 1.8-meter king-size bed and a 1.5-meter bunk bed. Both grandma and the little one had their own beds, and our child, who had always dreamed of sleeping on the top bunk, was absolutely thrilled! They didn't even want to check out. Breakfast was also good, though it did get quite busy during peak hours, and we had to wait for a table. The hotel also provides a self-service laundry room, which is a huge convenience for long-distance travelers.

The service is average, I can't even borrow a nail clipper; I stayed in two rooms twice, and the phones were both broken. The reply was that some of the phones had problems and were being repaired. I was surprised that they were broken in two different rooms? The central air conditioner has no cooling air. The front desk said we only have natural air. When asked what to do if it's hot at night, they said you can open the window when you sleep. I'm really speechless. Why do you install such useless things? Does it take up space?

I accompanied my children to take the public examination in Qinghai, which is very close to the examination center of Qinghai University for Nationalities. Unlike other hotels, this store has not raised prices, so it is considered a conscientious business. Although the decoration of the room is old, the service and facilities are first-class. The mattress is very comfortable and medium-hard, and I feel no discomfort when I wake up in the morning.
