Ssj91this hotel is good overall, but when we arrived, they told us that we didn't have a booking with them and they couldn't locate our booking and details. the room was also said to be taken, and they are waiting for a cancellation in order to get our room. There is a lot of confusion among staff. some visitors were told to leave their rooms once they have entered. we waiting 1 hr 30 min to get our room. so check in was at 4.30pm. parking was also very inconvenient, as we had to park at the basement, which was impossible to even get one if you came into the hotel late and a T&G card was also needed to get validated before leaving the hotel if we wanted a free spot. Room was very spacious and clean. the tea and coffee was hard like its never been changed.

Sshuidi219The hotel is conveniently located right next to The TOP, Penang's iconic circular skyscraper, making it easy to navigate back to, especially during evening strolls. Directly opposite is the GAMA supermarket, and next door is 1st Avenue Mall. There are also plenty of restaurants across the street, offering great convenience for shopping and dining. A 10-minute walk to the right will lead you to several durian shops, New Lane Hawker Centre, and the Sun Yat-Sen Museum. Turning left, you can walk to the famous Street Art area, which isn't just about murals; every corner is photo-worthy, and the shops are fantastic for browsing, truly capturing the essence of Penang. The hotel breakfast selection isn't extensive, but it's sufficient. The noodle bar offers various delicious options, and I also tried the freshly made roti with dipping sauce, which was quite good.

-a little bit far from the center, had to drive around 5-10 mins to reach nearest 7e. forget about the other attractions, it needs more than 30 mins from the hotel.
Staff.
-i dont know but i feel like not helpful enough. they could’ve done better for the so called “5 stars” hotel wannabe.
Cleanliness.
-well it was clean BUT! right when we entered the room we saw the notice of the charlie ants. we were so scared to touch the floor with bare foot as i lost count on how much we had seen and managed to kill the insects on our own!
Buffet.
-was ok, not the best. many verities to choose from. well at least they tried.
Facilities.
-they won this time. my only complaint was the insects on the floor and walls of the toilet.

ZZuileThe hotel staff were incredibly dedicated and responsive to all our requests. The room was clean and tidy. The beach behind the hotel is a bit small, but it's shared with the neighboring hotels, so you can walk along it, and the scenery is still beautiful. However, the hotel's internal landscaping is fantastic. It's definitely worth another visit.

Thankfully I realised that all the recent reviews have been glowing. I loved my stay at Sunway Hotel and everything was perfect. The bathroom was spotless and seemed very new. I really liked the pomelo-scented bath gel; and they even provided Colgate toothpaste! There were ample hangers and hanging space for everything. I was very happy with the large luggage bench - even a 30' bag would fit comfortably. There was a full-length mirror in the spacious room, and an iron and ironing board were also provided. I was also very glad for the excellent free parking facilities onsite. I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Penang!

GGuest UserThe hotel is about 40-50 minutes from the city center and roughly an hour from the airport. If you're not in a rush, public transport is an option. Arriving at Penang Airport at 7:30 AM, it was perfect to grab breakfast before checking into the hotel. We added an extra bed, which was quite low, like a camp bed. We asked if we could get another mattress, and they said they'd check but never got back to us, so we just let it go. For our 5:30 AM return flight, we pre-ordered a takeaway breakfast the day before. The balcony was very spacious with expansive views. The private beach was just okay, a bit rocky underfoot. The entertainment activities were a bit underwhelming; they said 10 minutes but we only got about 3 minutes of actual play. There were staff who spoke Chinese, so communication was no problem. There are no dining options right by the hotel, but there's a restaurant called 'Da Dong Seafood Restaurant' that's pretty good and offers great value for money. You might have to queue during peak hours, and getting a taxi back could incur a surcharge.

FfhatihahOverall, I'm satisfied, but of course, there were a few things that weren't perfect, haha. Check-in was good and fast, even though there were a lot of people. There was complimentary juice while waiting to check-in. The swimming pool is great and big, with slides for kids too. The kids' room is amazing, with a ball pit, PS5 games, slides, and more! The kids' room is definitely the best 👍🏻 Breakfast was a bit disappointing because the table I got was hot. Didn't feel the air conditioning at all. The room was great, sea view, and clean. Parking was a bit difficult. It's first-come, first-served, or you'll have to valet park if you want secure parking. The staff were very friendly. Excellent.

WWalter Zhou-zhouyipingOn a business trip to Penang, I'd stayed here before and chose this hotel again. The location is excellent, about a 30-minute drive from Penang International Airport. There are plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and shopping malls nearby, and it's not far from the Street Art area. The front desk is on the 20th floor; the staff are friendly, and there's a comfortable business and lounge area. The room amenities are comprehensive and clean. This time, I noticed they added a water dispenser, which is eco-friendly and convenient for guests from different countries, offering warm, hot, and iced water. Breakfast on the 21st floor isn't extensive but decent. There's also a good cafe right opposite the hotel with nice breakfast options. Overall, a great experience. I'll choose this hotel again next time.

One of the best things about this hotel is its very close proximity to Penang International Airport, which made travelling easy and stress-free. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast selection was good. Convenient location with great value for money. A great choice for both short stays and business trips in Penang.
