Hotels in Al Azbakeya, Cairo

I had a wonderful stay at Sayed Effendi Hotel in Downtown Cairo. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly polite, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Their dedication and hard work truly reflect their commitment to providing guests with an exceptional experience. One of the things I appreciated most was the cleanliness of the hotel. The rooms and corridors were always spotless, and the pleasant scent throughout the property added a very refreshing touch. The breakfast experience was also a highlight. Enjoying a delicious breakfast on the terrace, along with the beautiful Cairo weather, made for a perfect start to the day. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Cairo. If you are looking for a comfortable, clean, and welcoming place to stay, Sayed Effendi is an excellent choice—you won’t regret it.

In general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights. Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building. * Location & Transportation Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum. And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price. In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones. Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it. * Building and room conditions Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room. It is quite convenient a washstand in each room. However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler. It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel. * Cleanness & Safety Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this. * Services There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water. Wifi is too weak to use the internet. Other services like laundry are satisfied. * Others During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally. In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better. And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable. Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.

The hotel is very nice. Everything is clean, the staff is very friendly and ready to help. Amin is great))) ready to fulfill any request. The breakfast is good. It's not a buffet, but they bring a set menu, Egyptian style. But everything is delicious. The hotel itself is located on the second floor of a building, and if you don't know where it is, it can be difficult to find. There is a McDonald's nearby. As a landmark, the taxi driver called and a hotel employee came down to us, picked up our bags, and took us to the reception. The hotel itself is in a very good location, in the city center. It is very close to all the attractions of downtown. There are many places to eat, exchange money, and shops nearby. We really liked it. Next time we will stay at the same hotel))

everything was good, the room was clean and quite. the staff members were very kind and helpful, I booked 2 tours with them one for the Pyramids and the other one for the white and black dessert, and both tours were extremely good specially the tour guide Ali.

We arrived very very early in morning because of delayed flight but the check in was seamless and room was ready and we managed breakfast. Cleanliness is excellent for its style and location which we enjoyed very much. Location is perfect if you want to feel for real non tourist Cairo and all major points of interest are walkable distances. It’s not the Hilton or Ritz but it is somewhere where you will feel at home. Due to cultural differences you might want to stock up on tissue rolls and bottles 😅. Hi recommended and will stay again without any thought. The staff at Breakfast were especially warm and welcoming at every breakfast and the one dinner we had there, thank you Fouad.

This hotel is simple in terms of facility and services. But, it was good enough for me. The cost was reasonable and location was convinient for me. Only thing I want to complain is the shower room. After taking shower, I needed to wipe water spiled over outside the shower room.

First of all, I must like that the hotel room is very clean and quiet. For someone who has such high requirements on sound volume, this hotel is really quiet. Downstairs is a bustling pedestrian street, which is very convenient for eating and hanging out. It's also very close to the Egyptian Museum, which is great. The front desk is also very nice.

The hotel itself is basic. The room and other areas need a little work, but for the price that you pay, it’s worth it. And anyway, you just sleep there. What impressed me was the staff. I don’t have words how amazing the staff there is. I arrived with a toothache and they helped me schedule an appointment and I even got a discount. Every tour I wanted to do , they arranged it for me. The prices were affordable. Thanks to the staff, my before #1 ranked trip just got dethroned by this one. Very thankful to Kimo, Dr. Ahmed and Carlos for taking amazing care of me. Thank you for everything.
