More than just a place to sleep, Atour is a warm haven on your journey. My stay at Atour Hotel truly exceeded my expectations. I used to think a hotel just needed to be clean and quiet, but Atour made me re-evaluate the true meaning of ”service.” From the moment I walked in, the warmth began. Arriving late at night, the front desk attendant saw me with my luggage and immediately rushed over to help carry it. She also offered a warm cup of longan and red date tea, saying, ”You must have had a tiring journey.” In that instant, most of my travel fatigue melted away. While checking in, she proactively asked about my room preferences – quiet, high floor, away from the elevator. She even remembered that I preferred a buckwheat pillow from my previous stay and had housekeeping prepare one in advance. The room details were also thoughtful in every way. The bedding was incredibly soft and skin-friendly, the kind that makes you want to find out the brand and buy it for home. On the desk, there was a handwritten card and a small plate of cookies. The card mentioned the day's weather in Chengdu and recommended nearby breakfast spots. The toiletries were from SAHO, smelling like a post-rain forest, and the hairdryer was a Dyson – these little touches are a godsend for women with long hair. The most touching moment was a small incident during check-out. I casually mentioned I was rushing for my high-speed train and wouldn't have time for breakfast. The front desk immediately packed a sandwich and yogurt, and even tucked in two oranges, saying, ”Have these on the way.” This feeling of being remembered and cared for is something programmatic service can never provide. Atour's service isn't the kind of forced, ”standardized smile.” It's like an old friend who understands your needs and subtly anticipates them when you least expect it. I was so surprised! It felt like staying in a four-star hotel for the price of a guesthouse! I never expected it. Something came up at the last minute, so I booked a hotel across from my house for the night. It was so luxurious! The room was huge and incredibly clean, and the bed was a full 2 ​​meters long – it was so comfortable! I couldn't even sleep comfortably at home the next day. 😅😅😅

Requested a non-smoking room, but received a smoking room and nearly choked when entering. A staff member showed us some other rooms until one didn't stink of smoke. The location turned out to be further from the metro than expected, but was walk-able. The neighbourhood is new with a lot of construction was going on so not very much is going on. A street a bit behind the hotel had at least some food options that were suitable and seemed to be targeted to some relatively new apartments there. Staff didn't seem happy or very motivated during the stay but strangely as leaving appeared friendly. Breakfast was quite average, but given the lack of nearby options may be wise to include.

From the fitness center to the guest room experience, you can clearly see the hotel's dedication. I highly recommend it!

Booked this for my family. They'd stayed here before and always found the details and cleanliness to be excellent. The sofa is super comfortable, and they were upgraded to a room with smart wireless charging. Even the shampoo and shower gel are well-known brands, not those big bulk dispensers. The slippers are incredibly thick and non-slip, not like flimsy paper ones. My elders were very satisfied.

The main building and decor are decent, meeting JAL's usual standards. The soundproofing is poor; you can hear traffic noise at night. The location is out of the way, in a new new district. The amenities are lacking, with unfinished construction sites nearby and many cement trucks on the road. It's a bit of a distance from Yixin Lake, and I initially thought it was on the lake based on the pictures. The 'lake' is essentially a man-made puddle, which might be fine if you're coming to Chengdu specifically for this 'lake.' Having stayed at Shangri-La and JW Marriott on this trip, the Hotel Nikko Chengdu had the worst 'resort' vibe overall. I've also stayed at Nikko hotels in Bangkok and Tokyo, and they also lacked a resort atmosphere. Perhaps this is just typical for Japanese brands. The hotel immediately charged a 500 RMB deposit, which was unique among the three hotels. Yet, the minibar was empty. My trust in them dropped to zero. The breakfast quality was poor. Perhaps this is expected for a 500+ RMB price including breakfast. There wasn't much quality protein, mostly fried, high-carb items, and some highly processed, synthetic meats. This was the worst breakfast among the three Nikko hotels I've stayed at, and it couldn't compare to the other two hotels I stayed at in Chengdu this trip. You really get what you pay for. The breakfast restaurant manager was good, which earned some points for the hotel. During peak hours, it takes an hour to get into the city by taxi. It's a ten-minute walk to the subway station, and then another fifty minutes to get into the city. The swimming pool has no dedicated lanes, just shallow areas, which is okay for a quick dip. This facility also couldn't compare to the other two hotels in Chengdu. If you're looking to experience Chengdu's laid-back comfort and a relaxing vacation, I don't recommend this place. It's purely for saving money.

There are places to eat and drink downstairs. Staying by Luhu Lake and then heading to the airport, this hotel is a good option. The only hassle is that the front desk for check-in is upstairs, which is a bit inconvenient. The soundproofing isn't great; the guests next door were talking very loudly and I was disturbed at night 😢. However, the views and cleanliness are excellent.
