"The apartment was in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to Princes Street and a little further up the hill to the castle. We had a one bedroom apartment, was great to have the extra space. Unfortunately we were in the basement so had no natural light and had to keep lights on all the time. Due to the age of the building and being at the bottom the pump for the water was a bit unreliable and almost flooded the bathroom by not draining the water. We were woken up at 3am by the pump going every 34 seconds for over an hour (we timed it). Having a large fridge and microwave was handy and had we been staying longer could have made use of the washer and dryer. Overall we would stay again, but only if we were above ground."
"Great location being walking distance to everywhere. 10/15 to Victoria street/royal mile. 2 mins to haymarket and where the airlink bus drops off. Close to lots of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, supermarket. Friendly & welcoming staff. Good continental breakfast with lots to offer all very yummy. Very clean although basic small rooms it’s all you need for a little weekend away. Pillows are abit hard and no fridge in the room or tea/coffee makers (but they have that in the lobby). Overall impressed with the hotel & I would stay again."
"The time required to walk from the train station to the hotel is about 20 mins.
There are some stores near the hotel.
There are 2 floors for the hotel. We live in a room on the 1st floor. The size is decent and the equipment is sufficient. However, the window is at the height of a peoples's head. The people outside can easily look into the room and privacy is a issue.
Also, there are some problems in the bathroom. The light in the bathroom is automatic and this is a disadvantage. When I sit on the toilet, the sensor in the bathroom cannot detect my movement and will turn the light off every minute. It will be a lot better if I can switch the lights on manually. Also, the method of changing the temperature of the shower is very unhuman.
Overall, it is a fine aparthotel but there are some problems"
"Nice service but need improvement on cleanliness and maintenance. When we arrived at our room, we see a bunch of flies flying above the bed because of the opened window. The staff at the reception soon replaced it with an upgraded room. Room is nice but there’s mould in shower and bed sheet wasn’t perfectly fitted. Also the window of the room cannot be securely closed and locked."
"The hotel is ideally located very close to the train station, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. It's also not far from attractions, with Calton Hill just nearby. The front desk staff were exceptionally warm, professional, and attentive. Our room was spotless and well-appointed, ensuring a comfortable stay."
"My sister and I loved our stay we got a very warm welcome at check in our room was clean and the facilities was more than we expected in our room it was very spacious we did not check out the food but will nxt time I go we were very central to everywhere in Edinburgh local pubs ,attractions also supermarkets for provisions for ourselves bus services were easy to get to from our destination to city centre and attractions Edinburgh and our Hotel did not disappoint us"
"The location is perfect, within walking distance of all the historical sites you’d want to see.
The hotel staff are even better than the location: friendly, helpful, and very attentive.
The cleanliness of the hotel is excellent. I would definitely recommend it to everyone."
"The hotel facilities were decent, and the room itself was quite spacious. The front desk staff were very patient; upon check-in, I mentioned my preferred room location, and they patiently discussed it with me. We were on the second floor, though I imagine higher floors would offer better views. There's a large supermarket nearby. The bathroom had a bathtub, but the toilet area felt a bit cramped. The hotel was very clean.
The main drawback is that it's a bit far from the city center. A taxi to Princes Street cost us around £8-£10, while a bus fare is a little over £2. For groups, a taxi is more cost-effective. The journey typically takes about 10-20 minutes.
Breakfast was a decent English buffet, with options like bacon, scrambled eggs, bread, and juice. They offered both firm and soft pillows, which was a thoughtful touch.
After checking out on the second day, we stored our luggage at the Scottish National Gallery. It cost £2 for a locker token, and you could store items until 5 PM. The locker was spacious enough for a 20-inch carry-on suitcase plus a backpack. The gallery is very close to the train station, which was very convenient as it meant we didn't have to return to the hotel to collect our luggage after exploring the city center."
"I booked a windowless room, which was quite affordable. The hotel is fully equipped, but it's a bit old, and some areas could use better cleaning. There's also room for improvement in their service. However, it's very close to the city center, so it's a good option if you're not too concerned about the ambiance."
"Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff are so enthusiastic and helpful- nothing is too much trouble! The rooms are fantastic: larger than average, and equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly need as a traveller: tea & coffee (sugar, tea, coffee), a microwave, stove, working fridge, and AMPLE table space options! There was even a portable clothes line in the bathroom. Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

GGuest UserAmazing staff. Friendly people and always addressed me as sir even though I am really young. That was really professional of them. One of the persons was an elderly man and he addressed me as sir even though I am wayyyy younger than him. That was really nice and humble of him. Truly appreciate it.
Breakfast was amazing. Lots of food choices and tasty food. Location is brilliant. The room I had was overlooking princes street and the view was amazing. The room was also very clean and well maintained.
Perhaps the only thing that can be improved is ventilation in the bathroom as there was no extractor fan (or maybe I didn’t know how to use it xd) the air conditioning too kept turning off after every 45 mins which was slightly annoying but the hotel had provided me with a fan in my room so no major issues anyway.
Overall it was a great experience and would definitely recommend

YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good!
The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle.
The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍

MMuthu_7I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, modern, and well-maintained, offering exactly what you’d expect—comfortable rooms and great value for money.
The location is a good. Being right beside the waterfront gives the area a relaxed feel and public transport links into the city centre are convenient, making it easy to explore Edinburgh without being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle.
Our room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The breakfast was a nice touch—simple but satisfying, with plenty of hot and cold options to start the day.
Staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. Check-in and check-out were both quick and efficient.
Overall, Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh Leith Waterfront is a great choice if you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable stay with easy access to both Leith and central Edinburgh. I’d happily stay again.
HHunnyExplore1. Location, Location, Location
• It’s hard to beat this hotel for central Edinburgh. Right on North Bridge, you’re a stone’s throw from Waverley Station, the Royal Mile, shops, restaurants, and many of the city’s major sights.
• Great for walking everywhere; you don’t need transport for many of the main attractions.
2. Room Size & Basics
• Many guests say the rooms are more spacious than you might expect in a city‑centre hotel.
• Clean, with decent bathrooms, functional furniture, and most have good views (though that depends on the side you’re on).
3. Quality of Bed & Sleep Amenities
• Beds often get praise for being comfortable (though not universally). TVs, desks, kettles etc. are standard and work well.
4. Restaurant / Lounge / Public Areas
• Decent lounge with a good drinks menu, good public areas, attractive décor in common spaces.
• The steakhouse (Marco Pierre White) is a draw for many visitors.

CChidubemHostel is super cheap and about 15 mins walk to Princes Street, so quite central. My room was ensuite, and the shower was moder, with great pressure. I have stayed here multiple times and some rooms, especially the non-ensuite rooms, have problems with clogged drains, this room didn't! I wish there was a kitchen like some other hostels to make our meals.

FFatima IssaA Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended!
My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the warmth of the staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we both got a restful night’s sleep.
What truly stood out, however, was the level of service. I was feeling a bit under the weather during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing breakfast directly to our room, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. This level of care really goes a long way in making guests feel valued.
For those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast with a bit of fresh air, the hotel also has a charming terrace where you can take your meal while soaking in the surroundings. It's the perfect way to start the day if you want to enjoy a bit of sunshine.
The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to the city center, making it easy to explore, and for those who prefer not to walk, a quick 5-minute bus ride will take you wherever you need to go.
The lounge area at the hotel is another highlight. It’s spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with blankets to keep guests comfortable if the temperature drops. It provided the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The combination of comfort, thoughtful service, and a prime location makes it a top choice. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!

GGuest UserThe room was much better than expected, clean and comfortable. Self-service check-in and check-out were quick and convenient. If you don't know how to use it, you can call and ask for patient guidance. If you don't know how to use the access control, you can ask the staff. The location is far from the city center and various attractions, about 30 minutes walk, but you can take the bus.
In summary, it is still a good choice. After all, hotels in Edinburgh are crazy expensive. I will stay in this hotel again.
