Solea Palm Resort Mactan Reviews

Just stayed one night there but we luckily had an early check in so we made full use of our time there. I have no complaints on the facilities but it really is a classic resort culture catering to large groups and families with young children. Lots of kids and noise, so for us as a couple wanting a romantic getaway, it didn't really work for us. I had a feeling it would be like that so we just booked for the one night. The room was fine, probably due for an update in the near future. Breakfast buffet was good and we had a nice dinner there, the prices were reasonable for a resort.

My little girl who turned 6 years old this month had another lovely time in our favorite resort here in Cordova. We have spent countless special events in our life here and we will continue to love and go back to this place.. The beach has improved a lot, loving the natural strong waves during high tides and Im loving the new set up of the benches. The pools are always clean. Special thanks to the receptionist Den who gave us a beautiful room and we had a pretty view of the pools outside. The waiters and waitresses are all warm, helpful and very hospitable. Special mention and thanks to our breakfast angels: feanz, may and marn. lunch angels- lowell, jericho. To the waiters and waitresses who cheerfully danced and greeted my daughter a happy birthday, to Lenidy, Jerson, John Leo, Jericho, Lovely, Jade and Franzette. You were all wonderful! I’ve been booking thru Trip for this hotel but it was the first time I was told that I didn’t pay includes the amenities they couldn’t give us vouchers for amenities like the inflatable pool, kayaking and playgrounds for kids. We’re also given an occupied room, was shocked when we open the room there are people inside 😳

We had a great stay

The property is older and very much showing its age structurally. The property pictures do not reflect the current situation. The elevators floors are torn patched up but need to be replaced, the elevator buttons are opposite of what they should be doing; many pools and fountains are rusted and need to be fixed. The pool staff do work very hard cleaning the pools but they still look old and worn out with broken tiles and mildew/plants growing around them. The ocean front is a lagoon with weeds and old cement piers, stagnant water. The rooms are kept clean by the staff that words hard every day but the air conditioning leaks, the bathroom shades are stained, walls are cuffed up and dirty, flooring is scratched up, and shower caulking is black from mold and fixtures are rusted. The front desk staff had to move me twice at 3 am in the morning due to issues. They worked hard to accommodate me but unfortunately not all the staff was trained to the same level as the managers. Many guests complained to the front desk leaving them tired and without many options except to say “sorry “.  When I asked if I could get a simple cappuccino from one of the front desk attendants ( knowing that they have an expression machine at the bar), I was told that “ we don’t have that” leaving me perplexed by the lack of knowledge of that staff member. When I went to another person at the restaurant to ask a question about the coffee, I was told to “get in line”. What?! I stood there looking shocked until one of the managers from the upstairs bar recognized me and immediately grabbed an a la cart menu and was able to provide me with a table and a cappuccino from the very talented barista. Truly a shame that the non management staff in the lobby do have customer service training. The best experience and management came from the rooftop bar and restaurant. They were exceptional. They went out of their way to make guests feels special. They sang birthday songs and got extra fans for the guests. They talked to guests and got to know them and their needs. Bravo to them and the one manager who took care of my room needs. Growing up in the hotel business with my parents, I can only hope that this review helps to improve the current status. I also recommend adding more safety mats that absorb water by the entrances of the Palm hotel and in areas where water accumulates (for obvious safety reasons), provide guests a microwave near the rooms to heat up food ( for families with children who have special needs and snacks), fix the credit card machine in the souvenir shop ( as they are extorting dollars and cash from guests), clean up trash that has been dumped around property that can be seen from guest rooms (ugly to view), and update your trip.com site to show when pools are closed for repairs. I have many more recommendations but truly not enough time to list them all. Yours truly-

Solea Mactan offers a serene and relaxing escape with its beautiful beachfront and well-maintained facilities. The resort's spacious rooms and exceptional service provide a perfect setting for a laid-back vacation. While the food selection could be more diverse, the overall experience is peaceful and rejuvenating.

Booked a room with Queen beds and sea and garden view but as we’ve always encountered with Solea- given a double bed(2) and different view. No problem with the services tho, its just that options upon booking were given and roomrates vary accdg to the room chosen but when you check in, they will give you a different room. Specifically chose queen beds as we prefer bigger beds to sleep on that is why I chose the Palm resort instead of the Mactan. Pls make sure you are coordinated with the hotel as this was a confirmed booking. No problem with the stay but also the pools for the kids is not available as it was under maintenance. I have always liked solea except for this process which has been recurrent.

Such a beautiful resort !!! I didn’t get the most welcoming check in but Ralph checked in my friend and he got a room right away. We switched to Ralph and he handed everything to quickly and there was room available for us as well . He’s so competent, approach and very warm towards the guest . Aside the check in, the breakfast has lots of options , cocktails bars / happy hours Monday to Thursday great deal !! I loved Salt and sky bar on the rooftop, the sunset view amazing . Paddle board , kayaking and the 8 different pools that we tested . Want grill menu , amazing, and the waiter will bring your cocktail to the beach as well. Over the friendly staff made the trip so enjoyable and the other guest , mainly Korean so friendly and kind. I had the best Christmas on this resort and I can’t wait to return back with my husband.

The area is great and the staff are so good. Worth the penny! a must try place.

Great staff and management,very respectful and friendly, food was good,lot of variety to chose from as well as breakfast buffet,we had suite overlooking everything with 2 balconies so view was awesome,especially at night,the gym is on the top floor of building farthest building from me but the view from the gym overlooking resort makes up for the distance,definitely would go back.
