The hospitality, the atmosphere, the hotel itself. From the very tasteful decor throughout the hotel, to the amazing Staff working there especially Rachel who was kind enough to offer an upgrade (The ROOM was to die for š®šØš„¹) to the staff in the kitchen who really did help out as it was almost end of breakfast when I woke up but they were ever so kind to allow me to still get my breakfast. Big shoutout to Antonella and Rafael. I honestly donāt have a bad word to say, the whole experience was fabulous.
The Roof top bar has extraordinary views over the city, and the Spa area was fabulous.

I booked a superior room and was disappointed that I did not have a view as the picture you send me of my room had a view and I thought this was the room I was booked into.
As a disabled person who is claustrophobic I found the shower room challenging. I also did not understand why the beds were so close together as there was plenty room in the room to have a space between them in order that you could get in and out with ease.
I only used the restaurant once for breakfast and was not satisfied with the welcome or attitude of the person who seated me. I was not welcomed with a good morning. I was not asked if I had eaten there before and was simply told it is self service and although it is obvious that I have a walking disability I was not offered any help. She was not a fat lady but was stouter than the other staff and had long black hair. I could not see her badge clearly but I think her name was something like Luba. There was a good choice of food but plenty other places round about who are much cheaper..

Had the most amazing stay. The staff were super kind and thoughtful. The hotel smelt incredible and had a really nice atmosphere. I wasnāt expecting the birthday treats. They were very much appreciated. The orangery was beautiful and we loved how the place was decorated. Great view from the room and great facilities.

Staff: were mostly helpful! Helped me to arrange for transport to Heathrow which turned out cheaper than booking an addison lee by myself Cons: Stayed here on a biz trip for a week, and I wouldn't consider this a good business hotel for the following reasons: Laundry: had to make the booking on an app by myself, drop it and collect it at the reception. Not a big problem considering the cost saved but would have been good if the hotel offered a fuss free option for business travelers (wouldn't have minded paying more to be honest) Room service: had to order and make payment through the app too, unlike other hotels that you just order and settle on checkout. everything seemed a bit āself-serviceā and not as convenient as i had hoped for Breakfast: Manager refused to provide a take away cup/box and let me grab a coffee/ croissant to go. Insisted the only way I could have my breakfast was to sit there though i explained i had an early morning meeting to get to. Have never had this issue on business trips at other hotels, and for this reason, would not recommend for any business travelers. Rooms: could be cleaner but perhaps just a sign of age . edges of the shelf was chipped, shower screen had mold, the wall in front of the toilet bowl looked dirty.

Like always, I think the staff is what makes the hotel. My room had issues with air con, where it would turn off around midnight, and with windows being permanently shut it would make the room too hot to sleep in, resulting in poor sleep. However, the breakfast staff, Aygul and Flor, would turn my morning around. They're very friendly and helpful, and make sure you have everything you might need. Thank you both, for taking such a good care of me.

We were struggling to work out our evening. We stopped at the St Germaine branded bar on Bishopsgate. We were greeted by Elpee. From the outset they made us feel welcome and went above and beyond in making sure we were comfortable. They let us choose our seat, and set us up for what we expected to be a brief libation. My disabled partner and I were really impressed with Elpees attentiveness and quality of service. Being in London and disabled it can be a hard to navigate and aggressive environment. Our stop refreshed us, and made a it an exciting stop in our brief to the city.

Hotel is lovely and in a great location. The only disappointment was the shower. It was absolutely awful. You had to step into a bath and the shower was like a slow spray. Will not be staying here again unfortunately.

As I was working at a convention at Excel this weekend this hotel is certainly perfectly situated within a 3 min walk. I arrived Friday evening and was met with a completely soulless and uninspired welcome. The room (I was on the 9th floor) was spacious and certainly clean on arrival. I've stayed in several Novotel's recently, but the design here again is lacking in any individuality and feels very oppressive. A large bathroom, lighting was adequate, and for some odd reason the designer felt there was a priority for an electric opaque panel that could allow your guest to watch you shower if they wanted?! Thankfully I was alone, i wouldn't have wanted to share as every time the bathroom is in use the entire room lights up as the light bleeds through the floor to ceiling panel. The bathroom seemed lacking in any toiletries, and had nothing in the shower cubicle so I had to use the hand soap (I normally pack my own but other experiences in this chain gave sufficient toiletry options). In the morning I discovered the drain was blocked and so I partially flooded the bathroom as I hadn't fully noticed, it took nearly 10 minutes for the water to eventually run away. A call to reception got this fixed for my return that evening. Frustratingly as a tea drinker I am always baffled as to how coffee drinkers get so many options, but I only get 2 satchets of breakfast tea. Prob in 7/10 hotels I now stay in housekeeping always fail to acknowledge that I have only drunk tea and don't bother to replenish, something I only discovered as I woke up at 5am. Is it really that hard when they have replaced the milk? My room was warm upon arrival, so I dialled the control off. I woke several times in the morning due to the heat, opening the window made little difference as there is no air flow and just the sound of outside units whirring. I turned the control off but it made no difference and after a weekend its stifling, not helped when housekeeping leave the mirror light on which generates yet more heat. The bar was a miserable experience, the staff are completely unwelcoming, barely speak to you, don't listen to your order and seem unable to even acknowledge you. 2 friends came to meet me on Saturday night and had the same experience so we opted to go to another hotel bar for drinks and food instead. On arrival I had asked for the wine list/bar menu, but was told what I was given was completely outdated and incorrect...so why is it not replaced? Breakfast was OK, again just lacking in any form of customer engagement. All in all it was a functional space with a comfy bed but in this area it comes at a premium. It's a spacious hotel that just lacks any warmth, either in the decor OR in the customer interaction from the staff. I stay in several of the other chain's hotels up and down the country so was a little surprised by this experience, I won't be staying here again on my next visit to Excel.

GGuest UserBe careful of being unknowingly charged with a ādiscussionary charge of tipsā (supposed to be A Conpulsory charge of tips, donāt be fool by the name, it is non-discussionary) AFTER CHECKING OUT of the hotel. I was being charged with a discussionary charge of the tips on the credit card automatically without being informed upfront after I checked out and left the hotel.
When I checked out, i was informed at the counter that they were closing their account for previous day and they would help me check out my room and email me the invoice of my stay after they finished closing account. As a result, I innocently left the hotel since I thought a 5-star hotel would not have anything gone wrong. However, I was totally wrong until I saw extra charges on my credit card while not receiving any so called invoice from the hotel at all. I then reached out to Trip.com to request for the invoice that they have promised to send to me and it was then I was informed that the extra charges were from a discussionary charge of tips. I wasnāt happy about the way this was done hence I requested for a refund for this since it clearly stated this is a DISCUSSIONARY fee, not a compulsory fee. However, I was informed that this is a Non-refundable fee and my request was denied.
Out of so many hotels I have stayed, it is unbelievable that in a 5-Star hotel, I was forced to pay something that wasnāt even being informed upfront. In addition, with the fee name suggested, it is a discussionary charge of tips NOT a compulsory charge of tips, the hotel has forced the customers to pay it as COMPULSORY CHARGE OF TIPS.
In addition, the hotel services were very inefficient and lot of rooms for improve. We ordered for an in-room meal and we were told that it would take about half an hour to deliver. Hence we waited, and until an hour later, there was no update on our meal and we had to make a call again to check for the progress of our meal. It was then we knew there was a delay in the meal. By the time we done with our meal, we made the call again to request for someone to collect the plates, we literally waited for more than an hour and had to call twice before someone came to pick up the plates.
This shouldnāt have been the service received in a 5-star hotel and the worst of all, the hotel should have more transparency in their charges and should have informed the customers on the charges upfront before the actual charging. When we signed for the amount paid for the meal, there were no statement on the discussionary charge of tips at all, and we didnāt expect there would be as we were not even informed.
It is not that we are unwilling to give the tips and we did give the tips during the stay. However, it made us very uncomfortable that we werenāt informed anything upfront and it was charged to my credit card AFTER we CHECKED OUT of THE HOTEL. It made us feeling very unsafe to provide the credit card to the hotel as they can charge whatever charges they want after checking out the hotel. In addition, it is a discussionary charge, isnāt it should be discussed before I was being charged? If not it should be called a a compulsory charge of tips.
HHelenI was lucky enough to be able to check in early at midday and make extra use of the spa facilities, which was great. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was extremely clean. Breakfast was fantastic - one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. Great location for attending events at the O2, especially with the covered walk way to the arena, direct from the hotel. The pool area of the spa is nice but looking slightly tired in places (one of the sets of steps into the pool was broken) and my room was well equipped (with an amazing river view from the 14th floor) but a little characterless. But over all it was very good. I'd stay again!
GGuest UserThis hotel is a clean modern hotel which is well maintained. My wife and I stayed here twice, for 3 and 4 days respectively while touring the UK. The rooms were comfortable for sleeping, quiet and the air-conditioning worked well. The bathrooms were well designed and very clean. Housekeeping was fine. The major problem was that both of our rooms were very small and they had virtually no space for clothing. There was no usable drawer space and closets were tiny and had an inadequate number of hangers as well. If you are traveling for other than 1-2 days, there is no place to put anything. Living out of suitcases for 4 days or more does not add to the enjoyment of one's trip. The Breakfast is at best, just OK. There is a minimal amount of fresh fruit and while you can order off a hot breakfast menu, most things we ordered were not very good, so we stopped doing that. The Reception staff was marginally helpful. No one came to help us with our luggage. If you need a taxi or limo to take you to the airport, you are on your own. In addition, the front of the hotel is covered by bus stops so the taxi or limo has to try to find a place to pull us to load or unload. There are just a lot of annoying things about this hotel, some could be remedied, others probably not. For my next visit to London, I will not be staying here.

I called the hotel for a refund, only to be told I need to send an email to the manager and they would check the cctv to ensure I didnāt attend breakfast.

GGuest UserJust leaving Holiday Inn Sutton and have had a truly wonderful stay. This hotel was used as a base for exploring London and surrounding areas and can't recommend highly enough. Ok we're not talking 5 star luxury, but if you're looking for that common sense should tell you to book elsewhere. However if you're looking for CLEAN (so important) and comfort with EXCELLENT staff then this will be for you! Staff are honestly some of the best I've encountered (even in 5 star hotels) and I don't say that lightly. Restaurant, front desk, housekeeping, health club all an absolute credit to the hotel and brand. Thank you. Nothing was to much trouble and you made our stay really great. It's the morning and evening acknowledements and friendly vibe and all the little touches that really do go a long way. We'll be back and would highly recommend this hotel and if there's a way to reward staff on duty 27th-29th August 2022 please do :)

Staff can appear emotionless but thatās also understandable - customers are mostly transient in nature so why would the staff invest any emotion in them?

To 11th Aug.Due to some detail problems related to the hotel booking,several times I went to the reception to ask for help. Every time, they were very nice and helpful. Especial thanks to receptionist Jannai, he understood my requests very quickly and helped me to solve it very patiently. Itās a very nice experience to stay in the hotel, nice people, nice breakfast and convenient to many sightseeing places in London.
GGuest UserWe stayed 3 nights here, first night the rooms were wrong, after going to reception the ignorant woman behind reception was no help. Her male colleague changed the rooms on day 2. All 4 rooms were dumps, not fit for 1 star. Our room in the basement was directly above the tube line, you could hear it travelling every few minutes. Health and safety doesn't exist here. Breakfast is basic, no hot food and the milk was sour and stored in a flask. Everywhere except reception is filthy. The bar was closed for 2 of the 3 days we spent here as the barman did not turn up for work and nobody else was authorised to open the bar including the manager. 10 pounds charge to store your luggage while you wait to get checked in!!! While passing through reception at various times we heard at least 6 people complaining about the rooms they had been allocated. Nothing matches the photos online. Windows unlockable, safes not working, corroded tap in the ānewly refurbished bathroomā, showers blocked. Well over priced for what it is. This place is not a hotel!! Unfortunately 0 stars is not an option.

The room it self wasnāt where the reception was, turns out itās about 100m down the road & round the corner, making the below issues not worth chasing up for a short stay. A horrible smell, Very sewage/stagnant water I would say. Which come from the bathroom sink, which hair & gunge was blocking it leaving a slight blockage. Very cramped, you couldnāt swing a cat around the room. Window latch was damaged, led to feeling insecure even being high up. Dodgy wall fittings. Inc now where to hold the shower head on the wall. Crap little kettle that was broken & burnt my partners hand. Rusty/dusty fan. No bin! All round a pretty grim place. This said room is what my guess is one of a few which is not advertised in the photos when viewing/booking.
