Hotel Museum Reviews

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Vatican Museum and because they could receive us after midnight. If you don't have these requirements, there are better options in Rome for similar price. Continental breakfast, very simple. Room very old and basic. Seems overpriced for what it offers. But Rome is overcrowded with tourists, so not a surprise.

The rooms are average and the hygiene level is average. The breakfast provided by the hotel is terrible. The advantage is that it is very close to the Vatican and only a few minutes away from the Vatican Museums.

Small hotel, family-run. Nice staff, helpful. Very close to the Vatican and about 50 m from the Vatican Museum. Metro Red is not too far either. Breakfast, small breakfast buffet. But there is everything you need. Cleanliness is top notch, fresh towels every day. In any case, we will recommend it. LG Monika

The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and the Vatican Museums are 50 metres away.

The hotel is within a 5-minute walk from the Vatican Museums, but it is still quite far from the central area and requires a car. The room is not very clean, but the bed is very small, similar to a train bed. The two single beds are thrown separately and turned over to ensure they fall to the ground. The most unacceptable thing is that the water quality is very poor. The hot water is mixed with something on it. Don't dare to drink.

Good location, but the room is too basic

Location very centrally located. Could be cleaner. Hotel staff very friendly.

It's not easy to get a reservation. The room is small but clean. Besides, there is really nothing to fault at this price. I agree that the price is reasonable and I will still choose to stay here if I have the opportunity in the future.

Stayed with my parents. The room is clean and smells clean. Staff are helpful and friendly. It is a great location. Great restaurants and a walking distance to the Vatican. For those who says it is old, yes it is but it’s not worn out. That’s the beauty and history of the hotel.

My in-laws Gave this old fashion crumbling hotel a 1 because of its proximity to the Vatican Museums and the friendly staff- otherwise DO NOT book here- it has sadly seen better days- no decent amenities- dirty walls- broken toilet back- stained sheets- no air condition but that is based on Italian laws and the time of year so even if it is hot in Nov/Dec there will be no aircon- booked a classic room for one price they were given a standard (below classic) for same price- should have been adjusted. The “bar” is just a small card table with paper cups and some instant coffee and tea- the pictures say it all- no tv except Italian channels- this hotel could be great if proper money was put into it- they also run your credit card 3 different times for what reason who knows and the paper bill is a relic from the 60’s- My inlaws are seniors and are okay with quirky or even old fashion charm but said it was terrible beds were twins pushed together and hard as a rock and only redeeming thing was its location. Stay elsewhere.

This hotel was good! They saved us from the terrible beginning of our honeymoon (after landing in Italy). If you want to visit anything Vatican, this hotel is just a trot up some stairs and across two streets. The beds are not the most comfortable (unless you like sleeping on a harder/very firm surface). The room was clean, but a little outdated, and the bathroom is on the small side. The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating to requests (we asked for a fan to stay cool). They also gave great suggestions on getting around Rome and places to visit. I believe they can help get tickets to major tourist attractions (if needed). The hotel is also close to several food establishments. Maritozzi from the Vatican Cafe were SO tasty (but €10 each). We did a mixture of eating out and snagging groceries from the local market for food (there is a fridge in the room). Overall, a very decent stay and we were happy. Recommended (especially for tighter/lower budgets).

Our room had a semi-private terrace which was spectacular - otherwise, kind of 'meh' - quirky in a good/bad way. Really large room, semi-comfortable bed, flat pillows - pretty typical Italian mid-range quality. Can't get any closer to the Vatican museums, if that's what you're going for, but people tend to forget that the Vatican is located in a pretty dicey neighbourhood. Awful restaurants close-by, better if you go further afield. A little far from other things you want to see in Rome - you're better of staying near Campo dei Fiori or Piazza Navona, although you'll pay a lot more. Also - my husband had his shoulder-bag stolen on the street right outside the hotel - not cool - and the hotel staff wasn't particularly helpful.
