2-Star Hotels in Rome

Fantastic stay at Villa Aurora rooms whilst I was in Rome. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-furnished. Fully functional air conditioning (rather than those temperamental units in other places) really was a joy to come back to during the heat of a Rome summer. But so far, I've just commented on some features of the room, rather than my experience here. What will endure in my memory as I look back was the warm, classically no-nonsense Italian hospitality I had from Donatella. Throughout my time here, she made sure I was well looked after with room cleaning, bottled water, towels etc. But I most appreciate her assistance in terms of local knowledge. Local knowledge such as a good seafood restaurant , ”Trattoria del pesce” just down the road (which happens to also be in the Michelin guide); such as to not miss out on the Baths of Caracalla; and perhaps more trivially, but arguably also essential, where to do my laundry! Thank you so much for making my stay here such a pleasure Donatella, and for adding both a new Italian word and outlook to my vocabulary - ”tranquilo”.

🇮🇹Rome Hostel Recommendation: JO&JOE I spent ages researching online before choosing this hostel. Everyone said its location and service were superb, and I totally agree!!! The hostel is conveniently located near Termini Station, but it's not in what's considered a 'dangerous' area around the station. It's a fifteen-minute walk from the station, situated right on a main street, with no dodgy alleyways. At night, there are streetlights everywhere and plenty of tourists around, which I think is really important for female travelers. Most attractions are within walking distance (the only one you'll need public transport for is the Vatican 🇻🇦). The hostel is very close to both bus stops 🚏 and metro stations 🚇, and you can get directly to the Vatican by both. There are also many supermarkets nearby, both large and small. If you buy your own food there, 10 Euros a day for meals is more than enough. I stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm. Although it was an 8-bed room, there were quite a lot of girls. (I also often met Chinese 🇨🇳 girls, which was super convenient for finding travel buddies to hang out and take photos with!!!) The 8-bed room was very spacious, with one large bathroom and one small one (the large bathroom had a hairdryer). Note: Only the bottom bunks have curtains. (If you want a bottom bunk, make sure to request it when you book!) If you sleep on a bottom bunk, whether you get a good night's sleep completely depends on the 'sleep quality' of the person in the top bunk. Because the person above me moved around a lot and twisted quite vigorously in their sleep, it was really noisy. The air conditioning in the room was blasting, which was amazing given Italy's 38-degree summer heat. The lockers 🗄️ in the hostel don't have locks 🔒 (you need to bring your own, or buy one on-site for 5 Euros). I stayed for 5 nights, and I felt that my dorm-mates were pretty good; no one was noisy, and everyone turned off the lights and went to bed by 10 PM (I got super lucky!). The hostel has a huge balcony, a restaurant, a bar, a kitchen, a laundry room, a large common living room, and public restrooms. They don't provide towels (you have to pay extra for them). They offer a paid breakfast (10 Euros, a typical 'Western' breakfast). They also offer a paid laundry service (washing is 3.5 Euros, drying is 2 Euros, totaling 5.5 Euros. If you go to an external self-service laundromat, it'll cost you 10 Euros). After checking out, you can choose between free or paid luggage storage (free storage is in a meeting room, paid storage is in a locked cabinet). I personally recommend paid storage. After all, 6 Euros to store luggage for a day in a tourist area like Rome, Italy, is quite a good deal, considering there are so many pickpockets in Italy. Think of it as buying insurance! I visited Rome at the end of August, so it wasn't peak season. I booked 5 nights for about 1500 RMB, which is an average of 300 RMB per night. I paid a city tax of 17.5 Euros upon arrival. If the price you find is around 300 RMB (during peak season in July and August, it can be 600 RMB per night), I think you should go ahead and book it. The environment is very good! Whether it is the surrounding or indoor! And the staff are very nice! And it is very comfortable and the space is large!

We stayed in a double room, The room's layout was strange, completely different from the photos; the bed was in the centre of the room, there are also a single bed which located next to the desk. The door couldn't be locked inside. We reported this to the front desk, and they said they couldn't do anything about it and that no one would enter our room. However, the bathroom is being tidied every day, which is quite different to what the front desk said. The room wasn't dirty, but the bathroom was quite filthy, with grime and hair.

It was a terrible experience during the check-in process. The hotel has a large number of rooms, but there were only a few staff members available for check-in. Although the official check-in time is 2:00 PM, you may have to wait another 2–3 hours because of the long queue. Other than that, this is a beautiful resort-style hotel. It has a lovely swimming pool, a great kids’ play area, and even a supermarket inside the property. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel, making it easy to get around. You can reach the Vatican in about 30 minutes and Termini Station or the Colosseum in around an hour by public transport.

I really enjoyed my 5-night stay here! The location was one of the biggest plus points, with Roma Trastevere station just a 5–7 minute walk away, making it really easy to get around. The villa itself was so pretty, well kept and probably one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed in. The check-in and check-out process was also very smooth and hassle free. One thing to note for future guests is that the property is outside the main historic centre and outside the Aurelian Walls, in a quieter residential area. So if you plan to use taxis to get to and from the main tourist attractions, the fares can be a little higher. However, with the nearby train station, tram and bus connections, we found it quite easy to get around without relying on taxis all the time. We didn’t really see any front desk staff around during our stay, but the host was very easy to reach via WhatsApp and was always helpful whenever we had any questions. For the price I paid, I’m really happy to have found this little hidden gem in Rome. I would definitely recommend it and would happily stay here again!

The room was clean, spacious, and located right in the city center. However, if you’re sensitive to noise, it might be a bit uncomfortable because the soundproofing isn’t very good. As for me, I was so tired that I slept well anyway, so I didn’t really care about the noise. There were also many Chinese people and foreigners around the building. It’s close to Roma station, so it’s very convenient.

We had a wonderful stay at this resort. The cleanliness was outstanding, and everything was well-maintained throughout our visit. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help, making the service truly excellent. The amenities were also excellent and contributed to a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The only downside was the location, as it was quite far from the city center. Reaching the main attractions required changing buses and metro lines several times, which was inconvenient and time-consuming. It would be very helpful if the property could offer a shuttle service for guests, even as a paid option, to make transportation easier and more convenient. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend this property, especially for couples looking for a clean, relaxing, and well-equipped place to stay. Many thanks to all wonderful staffs

The hotel is just 2 mins away from Roma termini and lots of restaurants around .the hotel room is good for a night stay ,clean sheets and towels were provided .the bathroom was clean but had a cigarette smell ,had an working air conditioning. You will see lots of local people hanging around the street ,but it would be the same for any hotel In that lane ,could be a bit scary if you reach late over the night.overall the stay was good . If you are looking for a budget hotel and a good stat with connectivity I would recommend for sure .but if you are too particular about cleanliness of entire stay and safe street then not a good suggestion
