GGuest User”We stayed at this homestay for three nights. We arrived around 11:00 pm, but the host uncle still welcomed us very warmly!! That night we didn’t really notice the outside layout, but the next morning we saw that the garden is absolutely beautiful.
We stayed in Room No. 3 – a very artistic queen/king bed room with a jacuzzi, some snacks, milk, and bottled water. The room layout is exquisite, and you can tell the host put a lot of love into it 💝
Breakfast was also delicious!! There are several set options to choose from – just let the host know the day before. There’s also a small fridge in the room where you can store your own drinks. Breakfast includes bread, small snacks, and orange juice.
I really highly recommend it (loved it 😘 – it feels like home). The homestay has only five rooms, so availability is quite limited, but I still want to recommend it to as many people as possible!”

OOlivia575It feels like a family B&B. You can only check in in the afternoon. It is a separate villa. The hydrangeas in the courtyard are beautiful. It is very nice to have afternoon tea in the small courtyard on a sunny day. It is very close to Windermere Railway Station, suitable for those who are unable to drive by themselves. It is about 20 minutes' walk from the town of Bowness. When I made the reservation, only the loft room type was left. The spiral staircase would be a bit inconvenient. I felt that this room type was only suitable for young people. If you don't have to live by the lake, this price is still relatively high in Windermere. Breakfast is a typical English breakfast, but the service is quite enthusiastic. In addition to breakfast, each person will receive a piece of cake every day. Although the taste is relatively ordinary, you can also bring some supplies when you go hiking. I recommend a Chinese takeaway restaurant run by a Hong Konger in Windermere. The Sin Chew fried rice and curry rice are both delicious haha.

The room is large and there is a living room, unexpected, but the living room side is on the bedside, next to the street, sooner or later, some noisy, especially the UK speed is generally faster, pay attention to it. Breakfast is prepared in advance bread yogurt cereal milk, some in the refrigerator, some in the locker, do not have too much expectations.
2. If you come by car, you will need a parking card with the front desk, which costs £3 a day. There are unlimited parking. There are several places to park. It is actually very convenient. When you leave, you can go to the parking lot to drive first, and put the key and parking card at the front desk when you come back.

Facilities: Warm bedding, snow-white towels, free sparkling water, welcome milk. There is a hot water kettle and bedside USB socket.
Meals: There are seven or eight set meals to choose from for breakfast. The full English style is very rich. You can even choose low-calorie coffee and low-calorie tea!
Service: The landlord is very kind and gentleman, and can speak ”omelet” and ”poached egg” in Chinese.

The hotel lobby has a very British aristocratic style, and each restaurant is very distinctive, but my favorite is the breakfast restaurant. It is so beautiful and comfortable to sit by the window, look at the lake through the green lawn, and eat English breakfast. We ordered dinner, which was also very good, especially the appetizers. XXCmumuFirst of all, I must like the design of this small hotel. It has a great sense of design. It is located in the lake area not too close to the lake. It is very quiet and the garden is very delicate. It is also very convenient to walk to the nearby lake for about 20 minutes. You need to make a reservation for dinner. It’s still dark at 10:30, so you can walk to the center of town to eat pizza. There is free parking, which is really nice.

GGuest UserThe Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness.
The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude.
The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens.
We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that.
Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

GGuest UserThe room we changed to was much better, but it was a pity that we didn't book it longer. We also folded the bath towel into a swan shape, which was pretty. But this room type is on the first floor, and there is a courtyard directly outside. It feels like there are a lot of bugs when the weather is hot, so we still need to think about it more.

I was most dissatisfied with a male waiter, his attitude was particularly bad, I suspect he was a ******, his attitude was really bad, I have stayed in so many places in the world in hotels and B&Bs, this male waiter's attitude was the worst, I entered the staff area is my fault, but I entered from the restaurant, there is no staff only to enter the prompts, the male waiter kicked me out like a dog, I felt I was insulted.The waiter shooed me out like a dog, I felt insulted, it seems that the quality of the British people really needs to be improved.
