Amazing
1120631****The room was very nice, with swan bath towels. The environment was nice, between two towns, with the bus station just outside. The shop was run by a couple, the breakfast was delicious and the quantity was large, so make reservations in advance. A good stay experience.
VVincentyoungLocated in the most bustling town in the Lake District, it's just a five-minute walk to the lakeside pier, offering easy access to boat trips. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel, though a bit dated, has a lovely rustic charm. All the staff were incredibly friendly. Highly recommend!
QQingkuangyouThe hotel is right on the edge of Lake Windermere, with a very good environment. The hotel lobby has a very British aristocratic style, and each restaurant is very distinctive, but my favorite is the breakfast restaurant. It is so beautiful and comfortable to sit by the window, look at the lake through the green lawn, and eat English breakfast. We ordered dinner, which was also very good, especially the appetizers. The room is also very large, and we can see the lake in our room. It is very shocking to get up in the morning and look at the lake under the blue sky and white clouds. The facilities are also very good. It is a hotel that is worth staying in many times.
11861015****The view was stunning. We booked a penthouse family suite. The food was delicious and affordable. The breakfast was also very varied. The service was excellent. Overall, it exceeded my expectations. I'd definitely stay a few more nights next time I have time.
LLIZHU1. The parking lot is free and there is ample parking space, suitable for self-driving.
2. The hotel has a large lawn in front of the hotel, which is suitable for families and children.
3. The hotel is within walking distance from the Lake District pier.
4. The room is small, even if we booked the largest room, it was crowded for two people.
GGuest UserThe family room booked can sleep three people no problem. The hotel reserved the best room with a small balcony where you can sit on the balcony and have a cup of coffee and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Parking is free, which is perfect.
XXCmumuFirst of all, I must like the design of this small hotel. It has a great sense of design. It is located in the lake area not too close to the lake. It is very quiet and the garden is very delicate. It is also very convenient to walk to the nearby lake for about 20 minutes. You need to make a reservation for dinner. It’s still dark at 10:30, so you can walk to the center of town to eat pizza. There is free parking, which is really nice.
GGuest UserThe Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness.
The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude.
The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens.
We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that.
Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.
GGuest UserThe room we changed to was much better, but it was a pity that we didn't book it longer. We also folded the bath towel into a swan shape, which was pretty. But this room type is on the first floor, and there is a courtyard directly outside. It feels like there are a lot of bugs when the weather is hot, so we still need to think about it more.
CChua Seah Chin KiahHotel room is unique with steps to go to bed, making difficult to bring luggage up. But the location n service is good.
Will visit next time again
