Amazing
杨杨The landlord couple is very friendly and welcoming, helping us book a car and recommend a tourist route. The room is clean, the toiletries are upscale and the breakfast is plentiful. A short distance from the town, but very good, quiet, and can walk along the lake, to enjoy the lake view, a beautiful experience. highly recommended!
11331179****A very cozy family hotel with an excellent location. It is within walking distance to Bowness and the cruise pier. Although I only stayed in Windermere for one night this time, I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Their English breakfast is beyond praise😋
LLiulixiaofeixiaEnvironment: A beautiful old English-style house, the interior is exquisite, compact, neat and clean, with many cute little ornaments.
Facilities: Warm bedding, snow-white towels, free sparkling water, welcome milk. There is a hot water kettle and bedside USB socket.
Meals: There are seven or eight set meals to choose from for breakfast. The full English style is very rich. You can even choose low-calorie coffee and low-calorie tea!
Service: The landlord is very kind and gentleman, and can speak ”omelet” and ”poached egg” in Chinese.
GGuest UserRum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself.
We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area.
Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too.
We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful.
After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks.
We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny
QQingkuangyouThe hotel is right on the edge of Lake Windermere, with a very good environment. The hotel lobby has a very British aristocratic style, and each restaurant is very distinctive, but my favorite is the breakfast restaurant. It is so beautiful and comfortable to sit by the window, look at the lake through the green lawn, and eat English breakfast. We ordered dinner, which was also very good, especially the appetizers. The room is also very large, and we can see the lake in our room. It is very shocking to get up in the morning and look at the lake under the blue sky and white clouds. The facilities are also very good. It is a hotel that is worth staying in many times.
IIman bshA great location for photography...a very modern and beautiful and clean hotel...it always smells good...you can have several things in one place together...really take care of the cleanliness of the hotel every day...and I really liked the cleanliness there.
JJunjunOverall, it's pretty good. The decor has a bit of an American style, giving it a warm and cozy feel. The view from the window is lovely, offering a direct look at the lake. The hotel restaurant is right downstairs, and we saw many foreigners sitting there enjoying drinks. The town itself is small; you can explore most of it within a 15-minute walk, which is very convenient. There's no mini-fridge in the room, but you can ask the front desk for ice, and they'll provide a large bucket.
GGuest UserGreat location, friendly/helpful staff. Fine views from the bar and restaurant. Parking is expensive at £20 per night. Room was clean and decent, but overall it’s a little bit tired, with Wetherspoons-like carpet, worn paintwork, creaky doors etc. It could certainly do with a spruce up. Spa was very good.
AAnonymous UserThe location and hygiene of this hotel is okay, except that the carpets don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time.
I was most dissatisfied with a male waiter, his attitude was particularly bad, I suspect he was a ******, his attitude was really bad, I have stayed in so many places in the world in hotels and B&Bs, this male waiter's attitude was the worst, I entered the staff area is my fault, but I entered from the restaurant, there is no staff only to enter the prompts, the male waiter kicked me out like a dog, I felt I was insulted. The waiter shooed me out like a dog, I felt insulted, it seems that the quality of the British people really needs to be improved.
SSwee CherThe location is great. Breakfast was good and delicious. Room is acceptable.
The downside is there are limited parking onsite. This caused quite a bit of angst every night for our 3 nights at the hotel.
