Visiting Torquay for the weekend as it is a place we had always wanted to see. The Hampton was a very convenient location. Set right in the heart of the town it couldn't have been better. Staff very friendly, and thanks to Valentian (I hope I have spelled your name correctly). He was exceptionally helpful and professional and sorted a lovely room for us both. The room had a partial view of the harbour and made such a difference to our enjoyment of the room. Rooms are great. Functional and comfortable with all that the traveller needs provided including hair conditioner and face flannels. The shower is both rain shower and hand held hose - always a bonus, though the shower 'door' is a little weird as there not being one, water gets over the floor if you're not careful. Very good night's sleep as the mattress is good quality and the pillows very comfortable, plus on the 4th floor,it was perfectly quiet. Breakfast on a Sunday morning was one of the best as excellent selection apart from one tiny niggle: it would have been nice to have natural yoghurt but supply chains in the UK are uncertain at present. There are two entrances to this hotel. One, the main entrance up the hill on Terrace Road but the other is at downtown street level and is accessed by either your room card or by pressing the buzzer and reception will click you in, and then take the lift up to the reception area.. Great stay and would certainly return.

I was fortunate enough to have a sea facing room with a balcony. The views across Torbay were breath taking and may have justified the stay on their own. However when added to the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food the experience became one of the best UK short breaks (7 nights) I have ever had. The only negatives are perhaps the walk back up the hill after a day in the town and the time spent changing a barrel of beer when they Estrella ran dry! The hill exists and cannot be blamed on the hotel and the views would not be the same without it and there was plenty of other ales available in the bar - so VERY minor issues. I would certainly stay there again .
The ibis Styles Paignton is in an unbeatable seafront position on Esplanade Road, a stone's throw from Paignton beach with a spectacular sunset terrace looking out to sea. The unique interior design is inspired by mythical shorelines, with subtle touches that make every stay magical. Use the shipwreck-themed social space to relax or meet with friends; grab a pre-dinner cocktail or a bite to eat, soak up sunshine on the terrace or work remotely with a beautiful backdrop.
The Mercure Paignton is a modern seafront hotel overlooking the English Riviera and Paignton Green. The town centre is on our doorstep. Torquay is 4 minutes by train from this Torbay hotel. Seaview rooms are finished to a high standard with spectacular views of the coast, perfect for relaxing family or romantic holidays in Devon. The hotel is conveniently close to beaches and the South West Coastal Path, while Paignton Zoo, Pier and UNESCO Global Geopark are nearby for memorable days out to suit all ages.

Outstanding
The chesterfield is a lovely building and the decor is amazing. Amanda and Dan are fantastic hosts, very friendly and will go up and beyond for their guests. Amanda told us that there is a map on the table which we could help ourselves to which had places to go and bus numbers to help you. The room that we stayed in was beautiful very clean and it felt we was home from Home
Ccomputer fmsecNEWSuperb building in a perfect location for us.
We were in a room with a wonderful sea view to wake up to every morning. Breakfast was a very high quality and gave us a great start to the day. Overall the hotel is very clean and every facility will used appears to be maintained to a good standard.
Our room was very spacious compared to many other hotels rooms I have stayed in. The bathroom was definitely larger than average and included a good size shower, with plenty of hot water at a good pressure. Even when the other taps were used, the shower seemed to carry on totally unaffected.
A couple of small details that would have improved our stay. A working lift, during our visit it was out of order. But this didn't spoil our stay. The other detail would be a small stool ( or similar) in the bathroom.
All staff came across as friendly, approachable and helpful, they all seemed keen to ensure that we enjoyed our stay at The Osborne.
We took a walk around some of the grounds which all appeared to be very well maintained. We also walked out of the grounds and across the bay at Meadfoot, its a great location to stroll and enjoy the fresh sea air.
Would we stay here again?
Definitely, we have already discussed our next visit.
GGuest UserNice hotel with lovely location. Spa and food facilities are very good. Standard family room was dated, mattresses were awful, springs had gone. Nice bathroom. Generally hotel was clean. We arrived to a lot of dust on one of the beds which kept appearing, perhaps from the top of the headboard? Not sure. Could do with more staff at breakfast. Overall, would visit again.
GGuest UserWe booked this because of location witch is only 100 metres from the front of torquay! Reception said how did we come on the train ? We said by car ! They said why didn't you come ear and there is parking at the back of the hotel !!!!! They said on the booking that there is no parking so we're arranged parking our self's!!! When got there was a bit early but they would see if room was ready witch it was good one room 110 was OK but come nite constantly morning noise as its above the in door pool and when there are peoplein there very noisy ! Was woke up with fire alarm at 2'30 am no explanation !! Settled in had a look around but dated but clean !! Nice out door swimming pool !! Grounds are keeper well !! Staff were helpful but young with not much experience!! As evening came asked if we could see evening menu with that reception said no chef !!!!! Breakfast was OK but a bit unorganised!!!! In the day there was not chance of getting a snack or food in the hotel ! Don't no if there trying to sort there's things out !! Didn't seem to be any management around plus for what you pay no dress code no name badges !!! Would I go back not in the near future as there are better hotels around
SSutherlandGreat hotel with very friendly staff a very clean and bright room with good food served also. Will I be staying again you bet ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ».
Nice and central for everything I needed to get to
NNorthStar22721060355We stayed here for a short two night break and found everything to be very good. We were in Torbay suite, a very large room with a seaview and a large bathroom, bath and shower separate. We were informed there was no breakfast but there is a nearby Hotel which did excellent breakfasts at a reasonable cost. The Hotel is a reasonable walk into town and we are oldies, so great location for the younger set. Sauna and Pool were. open and working well. Comfortable bed, clean bedroom and pleasant staff. Only drawback no bar or restaurant so no evening get together spot, but you are welcome to take in your own drinks, we took in two bottles of wine and staff lent us two wine glasses from the now closed bar. All in all a great place for a short break with plenty of nearby eating places so plenty of variety.
GGuest UserBooked the Maycliffe Hotel last minute (2pm) we didn't check in until 5 to give them a chance to get the room ready as check in was at 3, the receptionist told us the room wasn't ready and it would be around half an hour baring in mind it was 2 hours after the stated check in time. Spoke to manager who said they have had a busy day which is not the point. Room was ready around 15 mins later. We was on the second floor, no lifts but had plenty of offers to help with our luggage. I asked the receptionist for a later check out for the inconvenience of the room not being ready which she agreed and said 1pm. Rooms were satisfactory, a little outdated but looked and smelt clean. Smart tv, fan and towels in the rooms. The following day a different staff member knocked the door at 11am to ask if we are checking out today so I assume the message didn't get passed on about the late check out.
GGuest UserNot what I expected when I first walked in but the room had been renovated and looked nice. The price reflected the service. The only thing was, there was no cups for the tea and we did ask and still didnβt get them. Apart from that it was lovely and even had a balcony with a sea view! Amazing
