This place is really great! I actually checked the reviews after booking, and some people mentioned big bugs. But once I got into my room, I found it to be quite spacious and so clean and tidy that there'd be nowhere for a bug to hide. So, we immediately extended our stay for another two days. The breakfast offered hot dishes, rice noodles, fruit, soy milk, milk, coffee, and pastries – very satisfying overall! The view is also nice; room 1032 isn't noisy, it's close to the block but not directly on the road, and in the distance, there are some very distinctive mountains! For this price, I feel it's excellent value!

Convenient, cleanish, and comically dated Let’s start with the good bits. The hotel is right opposite Guilin North Train Station. You could basically roll out of bed and onto a train. There are also e-bikes for hire. Just scan the QR code on the bike itself and off you go. Options range from a few hours to all day or night. Very handy for exploring without growing extra legs. Now, the hotel itself. It isn't bad. It's fine. It's the kind of fine that doesn't get a mention in any travel brochure. Treat it as a place to get your head down after a day of sightseeing and you'll be absolutely fine. The room was clean and tidy, bless it. A little dated? Oh yes. We're talking ”your nan's spare room in 1998” dated. Could it use an update? Definitely. But hey, it's a place to sleep, not a palace. Who's going to moan about a slightly tired lampshade when you're that exhausted? The WiFi, though. Ah, the WiFi. It kept dropping out like it had somewhere better to be. One minute you're online, the next minute you're staring at your phone wondering if you've offended it. So don't plan on streaming anything important. Or anything at all, really. Overall, if you need a convenient crash pad with a sense of nostalgic decor and unreliable internet, this is your place. Just bring a good book and a sense of humour. By
