The location is excellent, very close to the 20-yuan Lijiang River scenic pier. The environment is clean and tidy, and the room is very spacious. The service attitude is superb. I booked for two nights and was supposed to check out by 12 PM on the third day. However, on the second night, my child was hit by a car and transferred to Guilin Hospital. It wasn't until the evening of the third day that my husband had time to go check out and pack our luggage. The owner kept the room for us and didn't rush us to check out at all. The owner is a truly compassionate person; they repeatedly inquired about my child's condition, didn't charge us for the late checkout, and even gave my child a red envelope. For this booking, the owner truly went above and beyond, practically losing money. Such big-hearted owners are truly rare. I wish the owner a prosperous business and abundant wealth. Thank you for your immense kindness.

Guest UserChoosing this hotel was absolutely the right decision! The scenery is picturesque; waking up to views of mountains and rivers instantly lifted my spirits. The front desk staff were all so nice, they even upgraded our room and arranged transportation for us to nearby restaurants. The hotel offers delicious afternoon tea and a lovely 'goodnight dessert' every day. While sitting in the lobby, the staff would proactively offer drinks – whether it was coffee, tea, or juice, everything was great. I honestly didn't want to leave the hotel! The swimming pool is also very clean. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Yangshuo!

Guest UserThis hotel was a very pleasant surprise. I was expected something good, but it exceeded my expectations! Location is great - half-way of everywhere. Room was super comfortable, pretty, elegant with a great view. Everything was really good quality, from the sleepers to the bed, toilet, etc. Breakfast was simple, more Chinese style, but good. Swimming pool was quite nice, with a great view. Staff was very polite and attentive, even though English was not a feature, but always helpful with a translator in hand. We rented a electric bike at the hotel, got soak and wet with heavy rain, but the hotel had a self-service washing and drying machines, which was amazing. Overall, great stay. I can't really complain of anything. Would definitely stay there again.

Guest UserThis hotel completely exceeded my expectations for our weekend getaway. From check-in to check-out, the entire experience was incredibly comfortable. The location is perfect, just a ten-minute walk from the scenic area entrance, and it's surrounded by convenient dining and shopping options. No need to drive around looking for parking, which saved us a lot of hassle.
The room itself was more spacious than I anticipated, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. When you open the window, you get a great view of the city skyline in the distance, and the night view after turning off the lights was also very pleasant. The bedding felt clean and soft, and the pillows and mattress had just the right firmness, allowing me to sleep soundly until morning. The bathroom had a dry/wet separation, the counter stayed perfectly dry, all the amenities were provided, and there were no unpleasant odors.
The front desk staff, especially one gentleman, was very patient. He proactively reserved a high-floor room for us and even offered discount coupons for parking at the scenic area. While the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, everything tasted great and was fresh.
Overall, the value for money here is excellent. I'll definitely choose this place again for my next visit to the area, and I highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip.

Guest UserI was incredibly satisfied with the ground-floor room that came with a courtyard. You can walk right out onto the lawn and by the pool, and the view of the mountains is absolutely stunning and so relaxing. The rooftop is also great for photos! The restaurant food was good too. A special shout-out to Shishi, one of the staff members – she was absolutely wonderful and provided high-quality service. She helped us upgrade to a triple room with a tatami and a courtyard, and even assisted us with booking at their other property, the Lijiang Courtyard (we were so happy with this stay that we decided to continue with their brand in Guilin). Many thanks!

Five-star rating plus 9 photos for my favorite B&B and its lovely hostess! Our family trip to Guilin Yangshuo this time had its ups and downs with the weather. It didn't rain as forecasted, but it was incredibly hot during the day. We ended up spending a lot of time at the B&B, but we had an absolutely wonderful experience. First off, the guesthouse was spotless, and everyone's service was incredibly kind and thoughtful. We booked the New Chinese Suite, which had large floor-to-ceiling windows. In the afternoon, we were even treated to an afternoon tea. After resting, we rented electric scooters from the B&B and went cycling along the Ten-Mile Gallery, which was fantastic. The highlight was definitely after dinner, enjoying the hostess's bartending skills at the B&B's bar. She's beautiful, has a cheerful personality, and makes excellent cocktails. We kept enjoying drink after drink into the evening. Next time when it's cooler, I'll definitely be back to Yangshuo for rafting and to stay at this B&B again. See you then!

Anonymous UserOur stay at this hotel was absolutely fantastic! The front desk service was incredibly thoughtful and welcoming. Staff greeted us with smiles, processed our check-in quickly, and even proactively asked about our needs. When the weather was hot, they thoughtfully prepared fresh fruit (crisp plums) and iced drinks (sour plum juice, lemonade) in the lobby for guests to enjoy at any time. The room was clean and tidy, with dust-free floors and fresh bedding. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area and was well-equipped (hair dryer, toiletries). The kids absolutely loved the tent and ride-on toy in the room, and there was plenty of space for them to play freely. On the 10th floor, there's a dedicated kids' play area with slides, a ball pit, and a picture book corner, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Guest UserSugar House was one of the highlights of our trip to China. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen somewhere special.
The hotel is beautifully designed, blending contemporary luxury with its historic surroundings in a way that feels both unique and peaceful. Our room was spacious, stylish and extremely comfortable, with stunning views over the karst landscape. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring Yangshuo.
The food was outstanding throughout our stay. Breakfast offered a great selection of both Chinese and Western options, and every meal we had at the hotel restaurant was beautifully prepared using excellent local ingredients. Everything was consistently excellent and a real highlight of our stay.
What really elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service. Every member of staff was warm, welcoming and genuinely eager to help. They assisted us in arranging transport and offered excellent recommendations for exploring the surrounding area, making everything effortless.
The location was perfect for us—peaceful and secluded, yet within easy reach of Yangshuo’s incredible scenery. We spent the day rafting on the Yulong River, visiting Fuli Bridge, Moon Hill and Xingping, before returning to relax by the beautiful riverside pool each evening. It was the ideal balance of adventure and tranquillity.
Sugar House is much more than a luxury hotel; it is a destination in its own right. We left wishing we had booked an extra night and would not hesitate to return. It is a truly exceptional place that we will remember for a very long time.

Guest UserWe stayed at New West Street International Hotel for total of 10 nights as we accompanied our child at a nearby Chinese school in the summer. This extended time gave us the opportunity to really got to experience the hotel facilities, the food, and the service.
First the location. The actual location is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the actual West Street. To us, the distance is actually a good thing. Food, shops, and amenities at West Street are overly tailored for tourists. The hotel location is quiet and peaceful. Nearby are many local restaurants and shops that we much preferred. In fact, we found ourselves walking away from the West Street direction to get some great local foods everyday of our stay. That said, the hotel offers an excellent shuttle service beginning at 3:30pm until late at night if that's what you are into.
Second, the hotel building itself is in excellent condition. It appears many of the facilities and rooms were recently renovated. The lobby is open and airy and makes a comfortable gathering spot for us to meet our friends before heading out. The hotel sometimes accommodates tour groups. Even when we see as many as three tour buses parked in the back, the hotel does not feel congested nor noisy. The room itself is tastefully updated with a large flat screen TV, USB-C chargers, and automated curtains. The beds were comfortable and our balcony room faced a beautiful karst mountain and a nearby pond. The room appears to have great noisy insulation. We did not hear our neighbors like we did in other Chinese hotels.
Third, the place is always clean. We see staff cleaning public areas all the time, wiping down handrails, elevator buttons, countertops. etc. As for our room, the home keeper always kept it clean and orderly. We had some problems with smell the first day. A housekeeper came and troubleshoot the problem to durian smell in the mini-fridge. Not only did she wipe it down, but even without us asking, the later came back with another mini-fridge to make sure no smell was left. That really made an impression on us.
Next, the staff. Everyone we encountered was always friendly and greeted us. From the cleaning staff to the front desk reception to the restaurant waiters. Everyone was friendly. We can only speak limited mandarin but the staff still talked to us best they could in English. Rachel, the manager on site, was especially friendly to make sure we got everything we needed. She understands we were staying for an extended period of time so she was always asking what can be improved for our long stay. The hotel added us to WeChat where they respond quickly to all the typical requests like room service to sending us extra water. I wish more hotels do this.
Finally, the facilities. We used the laundry room daily. There are 5 washers and 3 dryers by my count. Most of the time, I can find an empty machine to wash my laundry. Mornings are best for doing laundry. After dinner time is the busiest time. We occasionally had to take out other people's laundry that were just sitting there but it's rare. The pool is large, warm, and clean. The shallow end is perfect for kids or just wading around. The deep end is 1.7M deep so it's plenty for actual swimming. We also used the on-site travel agent to book a private transfer to the Guilin high speed station. Rachel happened to be nearby when we did this and she helped with some translation with the agent and it was very appreciated. The restaurant was large and there was always space for us to sit even when there are large tour groups. It offers mainly Chinese options but also have some Western items. Food was abundant and delicious. The Guilin rice noodles in the back is tasty and the broth is excellent. The only thing is the coffee could be a little bit better!
We loved our stay at the New West Street International Hotel and would not hesitate to go back next time we visit Yangshuo.
