Marriott Hotels in Sanya

I chose this hotel through Trip.com, thinking their service would be better, but to my surprise, no concierge proactively reached out on WeChat to ask about my needs in advance. Upon check-in, I wasn't even told where the breakfast restaurant was or where the dinner included in my package was located; I had to call and ask myself. I feel the staff's attitude needs improvement. Perhaps there are just too many guests at this Marriott that they can't keep up? As for the highly-praised breakfast, I honestly don't think there's anything particularly special about it. It might seem good on the first day, but by the second, I was already tired of it. If you don't mind the public beach at Yalong Bay, you can consider staying here. However, people constantly selling coconut water, swimming rings, etc., on the beach is quite annoying. It feels less like a relaxing vacation and more like being in a tourist trap. The cleaning auntie was quite diligent, though she did leave her cleaning cloth in the room. The rooms on both sides of the hallway meant that the morning cleaning was quite noisy, and the soundproofing isn't great. Also, for a Marriott… the toiletries were Herborist, which is fine, but the shampoo left my scalp feeling dry and the scent wasn't very pleasant.

Overall, I'm quite satisfied. I booked a room in the North Tower, and it wasn't as damp as I'd imagined, even though it wasn't on a high floor. The beach is right down the stairs, perfect for finding crabs and surfing. The front desk service was just average. The check-in process was robotic, I was just handed the room card without any explanation of my booked package benefits. Then I was told to add a WeChat contact person, and I had to inquire about each package benefit individually when I wanted to use it. Thankfully, the WeChat contact, housekeeping, and dinner restaurant staff were all very nice. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, with no one guiding or arranging seating, so you had to find your own spot. As a result, we ended up eating outdoors in an uncrowded area for two days, which was a bit uncomfortable. Oh, and the area around the hotel is genuinely desolate. To find food, we had to drive to Haiyun Plaza in Lingshui multiple times. Parking at the hotel entrance was also a mess.
