LLililixiaojieMy kids and I chose the InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay for our vacation, and the overall experience was incredibly pleasant. The rooms, dining, photo ops, and family-friendly facilities were all outstanding. Here's my honest review:
**Guest Rooms**
The room was spacious with a simple yet elegant design, exuding a strong holiday vibe. Our sea-view room offered an unobstructed panorama of the ocean and garden from the balcony. The indoor facilities were comprehensive, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, making for a great night's sleep. The bathroom featured a wet/dry separation, and the toiletries were of good quality. The hotel thoughtfully provided special toiletries and slippers for children, a very considerate detail for families. The room had excellent soundproofing; despite the lively activities in the resort, it was wonderfully quiet inside, ensuring a peaceful stay.
**Dining**
The hotel offers a wide selection of dining options. Breakfast is a buffet with a variety of Chinese and Western dishes, including local Hainanese specialties, fresh fruits, vegetables, and drinks – something for everyone. You can choose to dine indoors or outdoors; eating al fresco with the sea breeze was a fantastic experience. The highlight is the unique underwater restaurant, where you can watch marine life swim by as you eat, creating a truly special atmosphere. There's also a dedicated children's meal area with blandly flavored yet adorably presented dishes that kids love. The staff were enthusiastic, promptly refilling food and clearing tables.

GGuest UserStaying in a Banyan Tree Sanya Ocean View Villa was an absolutely incredible experience! The 360-square-meter villa was spacious and comfortable, with its red tiled roofs and white walls blending Eastern charm with tropical flair. The private pool, surrounded by lush tropical gardens, offered glimpses of the shimmering ocean through the greenery – truly serene and relaxing. The butler service was exceptionally attentive, from the welcome drinks to the turndown gifts, every detail was perfect. I highly recommend the Banyan Tree SPA; the therapists were professional, and the tropical oriental treatment, combining scrubs and massages, melted all my fatigue away. The sunset ritual at the Sea Breeze Bar was romantic, and the Hainanese noodles at Ming Yue restaurant were surprisingly delicious. The privacy here is outstanding, making it a true hidden gem for an island getaway!

GGuest UserThe butler service was great, very responsive, and the travel photos turned out really well. The travel photography package included a 15-second video and 5 digital negatives. The buffet was very rich and varied. The travel photographer was very responsible and professional. Unfortunately, the weather in Sanya wasn't great during our stay, so we spent most of our time at the hotel. They provided a complimentary bubble bath, which my little one loved! The room didn't support screen mirroring, and some of the facilities could use an upgrade.

AAnonymous UserThis trip, I stayed at the Sheraton Sanya Haitang Bay for four nights and three days, and honestly, it was incredibly comfortable. It was quite different from some of the negative reviews I'd seen online; my actual experience was really good.
We arrived at the hotel around 2 PM. Since we requested a high-floor room and also asked for an upgrade, we waited a little while but were checked in smoothly around 3 PM. The whole check-in process was very efficient. All the staff members were exceptionally friendly and pleasant to interact with.
The room itself was very spacious. When I opened the door, the view was fantastic – lush coconut groves right outside, and I could even see the ocean in the distance. The room was meticulously maintained; I didn't see any mosquitoes during my entire stay, and the hot water flow was excellent. When I first entered, there was a faint hint of dampness, but it completely dissipated after opening the window for a short while, so it didn't affect my comfort at all. The daily housekeeping staff did a very thorough and thoughtful job; the room was sparkling clean every time we returned.
What was particularly heartwarming was our dedicated butler, Tudou (Potato). He was enthusiastic and attentive, with a great sense of boundaries, which made me, as an introvert, feel especially at ease. He handled any requests I had during my stay perfectly and even proactively offered thoughtful reminders about the hotel's various activities and convenient services. Knowing we were traveling with a baby, he prepared baby-friendly amenities like a crib bumper and a baby bathtub in advance, considering every detail and saving us a lot of travel hassle.
The hotel's pool area was well-designed, with separate sections for adult and children's pools. The kids' pool had a bubble party every day at 3 PM, which the children absolutely loved. The pool for older kids was usually not crowded, and the water was clean and refreshing.

GGuest UserDue to noise issues in our previous lake-view family room, we reported it to Gina, who then moved us to a family room in the main building. Overall, this room had lower ceilings and older facilities than the previous one, but it was more spacious. The best part was how quiet it was; after 10 PM, there was virtually no noise outside, which was great for light sleepers. I really appreciate Gina from Guest Services for her attention to detail; she even prepared a small cake for the child, who was thrilled.
The hotel pool's bubble activity is every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:30 PM. My child had so much fun they completely forgot themselves, but then developed a fever that evening. When I asked the hotel for an ear thermometer, they replied that they only had mercury thermometers.
How could an A+ parent-child hotel not have an ear thermometer? While an ear thermometer might not be as accurate as a mercury one, it's difficult to use a mercury thermometer with very young children who might not cooperate. Of course, we usually bring our own ear thermometer when we travel, but there are always unexpected situations, like forgetting it this time.
Service: Most of the restaurant staff, cleaning ladies in public areas, and bellhops at the entrance actively greeted us, and they were all very good.
Getting Around: There's a night market within walking distance of the hotel. The beach is just a left turn out of the hotel and across the road. The hotel can arrange a car to Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park, which was a filming location for 'If You Are the One 2' – just ask the Golden Key concierge in the lobby.
For other places, you generally need to take a taxi. For example, if you want to go to West Island, it's at least a 45-minute taxi ride. If you're staying for three days or less, I honestly recommend just staying at the hotel. Don't venture out too much, or you'll lose the meaning of a vacation and get too tired.
Issues encountered in the room:
1. The most memorable thing was that my child's white socks turned black very quickly after walking on the floor. It seemed the room floor wasn't mopped daily, as I also saw hair near the dining table that hadn't been cleaned up. However, the housekeeping staff were quite considerate; they noticed we needed more water and directly provided 8 bottles. Linens and room consumables were fully replenished after previous guests checked out. But when our extended stay room was cleaned the next day, they took away the child's bathrobe and didn't replace it, nor did they replenish consumables. I had to call later that night to request them. Overall, it was easy to tell that different people were cleaning on different days.
2. There were also some hardware issues, such as the curtain and screen window switches being reversed. The lighting modes were quite unintuitive; for example, there was no night light mode or a mode to only turn on the lights above the bedside table. The shower drain worked better than in the previous room, flowing smoothly without overflowing. However, the hot water in the shower took too long to come out – definitely over ten seconds – so long that I thought hot water wasn't coming out at all.
3. For dining, we only experienced breakfast and the buffet dinner. My child particularly enjoyed the fruit at the buffet dinner and the mermaid show. The food quality overall wasn't particularly outstanding; it was just enough to fill you up, with no dishes leaving a special impression. The photo is of breakfast.
Long after checking out, I realized I had left some items, but I didn't receive any call or feedback from the hotel. Although if they had called, I probably would have said to discard them, I wonder if the current hotel process for lost and found items is to wait for guests to call and inquire, otherwise, they assume it's not wanted and dispose of it?
We experienced the afternoon tea and travel photography included in the package. We didn't go to the DIY activity.

GGuest UserThe environment is fantastic! For a hotel costing just over 1000, the ambiance alone is worth 800! The room was very spacious, and the ocean view was absolutely stunning! Although the weather was bad and rainy when we arrived, making the room a bit damp, we contacted the front desk and they immediately sent up a dehumidifier. Our butler, Bella, provided excellent service! We wanted to check in early, and she actively helped us with the process. The complimentary travel photography offered by the hotel was also great! If I come back to Sanya, I'd definitely consider staying at Mangrove Tree again!

AAnonymous UserEvery time I visit Hainan, I stay here. It feels just like home. The hygiene and environment are excellent. Xiao Jing, the lady at the front desk, is exceptionally wonderful. She always helps us get settled in so well and is always smiling. I really, really like her. The floor attendant, Auntie Li Yundan, is also fantastic. She cleans our room meticulously every day. Because my children have online classes and homework in the mornings, she always waits until the afternoon to clean, so as not to disturb them. She has such a gentle demeanor. I really, really like her!

LLirongzhaozhaoOur family of three (with a three-year-old) stayed for five days and four nights, and we pretty much spent all our time at the hotel or nearby. It's just a few minutes' walk to the beach, and overall, it was excellent! 👍 You really have to experience it yourself to know how good it is. A big thanks to Sunny for her attentiveness; even during the busy May Day holiday, her replies were quick, and our requests were handled promptly and efficiently!
🏨 **Facilities**: It has a sort of vintage, old-money vibe – spacious, which I really liked. No issues with our stay, and the duvet wasn't too thick! It was just right for sleeping with the AC on at night; adults weren't cold, and the child wasn't hot! Plus, when we asked for a bed rail, the housekeeping staff literally knocked on our door right after we finished speaking. They installed it incredibly fast, without any fuss, and were gone in a flash – unbelievably quick!
🧹 **Cleanliness**: The entire hotel was spotless and refreshing, and room cleaning was very efficient! Sometimes we only needed the trash taken out and nothing else, and a quick word to Sunny was all it took – everything was perfectly arranged.
🌴 **Environment**: It's got a kind of retro American garden aesthetic, definitely a resort feel! The public areas are large and beautiful, and the night view is stunning. The big lawn is absolutely amazing (yyds)! All three pools are lovely, and the children's pool is truly excellent 🛝. The hotel has so many picturesque spots for photos; it felt like we could get all those trending Sanya photo ops right here at the hotel! The value of hotels on Haitang Bay is definitely on the rise.
🍳 **Dining**: Breakfast was very rich, with slight variations each day. The kids' section had plenty of options too, with a dedicated area for babies, as well as large round tables and multi-person tables, perfect for big families. The Western restaurant by the pool was also great and delicious. Ordering takeout was convenient and delivered quickly; we just had to pick it up at the entrance, which I thought was fine, like a little walk 🚶.
🏋️ **Gym**: Very good! It's located near the children's adventure playground. Most of the equipment had usage tutorials, making them simple and easy to operate. Our family of three tried out all the equipment, and the child had even more fun than going out!
👶 **Kids' Club**: The area for younger children is a bit small, but still enough to play in. More toys would be even better. There's another larger one for kids aged 5 and up, which costs extra. Kids can even experience riding horses 🐎 and ostriches right here at the hotel – can you believe it?
📷 Because we had our child with us, we usually only visited one attraction per day and always came back to the hotel for an afternoon nap. We spent a lot of time at the hotel and never felt bored. Even during May Day, it wasn't overly crowded, very orderly, and quiet. There were so many things to do at the hotel: swimming, walking, watching small animals, enjoying the sea, digging in the sand, afternoon tea, playing in the kids' club, riding the mini train, collecting shells, and more. In short, we were all very satisfied, had a very pleasant holiday, and it was excellent value for money 👍. We will definitely come again next time! 🥳

GGuest UserThis hotel is located at the easternmost end of Yalong Bay, right next to the Underwater World, making it super convenient for water sports. We booked a sea-view king room, which turned out to be a couple's suite – it would be even more romantic if I had my partner with me next time!
Facilities: There's a self-service laundry room, but no dryer. It would be great if they could add one in the future.
Cleanliness: Very clean, especially the white bedsheets.
Environment: Right on the beach, so getting into the sea is very easy.
Service: The hotel staff are very enthusiastic, and they even offer travel photography services, which is perfect for capturing vacation memories.
Overall, it's a hotel with great value for money, highly recommended, and quite popular!

TTangxinleizhenyuThe room overall is pretty good, and there are many more free activities to participate in. Two years ago, when I visited, I even caught the Earth Hour concert, which was very interesting. This time, the room type I stayed in was larger and had better facilities, and the price was still the same – great value for money. The downsides are that the air conditioning was really a bit warm, the maintenance of the beach and lawn wasn't great, and the restaurant food has become less appealing. Also, the hotel lobby now has a lot of stalls selling small merchandise, which feels quite cluttered. However, this might be unavoidable given its value-for-money approach, but I still hope they can make more improvements if possible.
