4-Star Hotels in Jianshui

This hotel stay far exceeded my expectations. It's newly renovated with spacious rooms; our double room had two queen-sized beds. It also featured Toto bathroom fixtures and a Dyson hairdryer. The breakfast selection wasn't huge, but the quality was excellent. The rice noodles, in particular, had a delicate flavor perfect for those who prefer lighter tastes. The service was exceptionally thoughtful. They called ahead to ask about our needs and pre-registered our license plate number. The front desk staff were also very welcoming and responsive to everything. The only minor drawback might be the location. It's at the end of a street, and the surrounding residential areas have turned the road into a parking lot. It's a bit of a walk, about 20+ minutes, to the ancient city.

As a seasoned traveler with discerning tastes in accommodations, I found a great hotel in Jianshui this time. Initially, I didn't have high hopes, since Jianshui is only a county-level city. However, I found this hotel online with very high reviews, so I booked three nights with some skepticism. After arriving, I truly felt I made the right choice. A man claiming to be a hotel staff member picked me up at Jianshui Station in a clean and comfortable Alphard (I felt he was the owner). Upon arrival, he upgraded my room to a super spacious 95 square meters with a huge bathroom. Later, I enjoyed a very thoughtful afternoon tea, and breakfast for three consecutive days (exquisite!). There was also a self-service laundry room and a gym far exceeding average standards. The location was also excellent; it was within walking distance of Jianshui Ancient City and the small train. I've almost never reviewed a hotel so thoroughly before. See the pictures!

My overall experience staying at the Supply and Marketing Cooperative Hotel in Jianshui was really good, offering excellent value for money with several pleasant surprises. The location is incredibly convenient; it's just across the road from the Lin'an departure station for the Jianshui Ancient City Mini Train, and you can reach Chaoyang Tower in about a 10-minute walk. Exploring Zhu's Family Garden or entering the core area of the ancient city doesn't require a taxi. If you're driving, the hotel also provides free parking, which is a huge plus for tourists. The entire hotel boasts an authentic 1980s retro style of the old supply and marketing cooperatives. The lobby, hallways, and dining hall are filled with vintage items – a supply and marketing cooperative supermarket in a glass display, old-fashioned thermos bottles, and faded old photographs for decoration. Stepping inside feels like traveling back to childhood. It’s perfect for photo ops or for bringing elders to reminisce, and every snapshot turns out great. The rooms are spacious, and despite the retro theme, the internal facilities are far from outdated. Modern amenities like smart toilets and whole-house voice control are all provided. Breakfast is served in the retro dining hall, and the special grass sprout rice noodles are very authentic. The front desk staff are also very responsive and quick to help resolve any issues. The only minor drawback is that the room's cleanliness details could be improved. Some corner areas weren't cleaned thoroughly enough. If the level of cleanliness could be enhanced further, the overall stay experience would definitely be perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Jianshui; both the experience and value for money are excellent.

This guesthouse is nestled within a charming, antique-style academy, and our room was exquisitely decorated, fully equipped, and spotlessly clean. The mushroom noodle soup for breakfast was delicious. The service was incredibly thoughtful; the staff called us in advance to arrange pick-up from the station and also organized drop-off when we left. The gift from the owner before we departed was a lovely touch, especially the traditional thread-bound book made by the academy, personalized with our child's name – it was such a pleasant surprise. It's clear the owner is a person of great sentiment and poetic spirit. The courtyard is well-connected, with the Calligraphers Association next door, a library, and a lecture hall. You can enjoy a quiet read in the library. Our ground-floor room even had a private entrance garden where guests could enjoy tea under the moonlight. When booking, looking at other people's photos of the dimly lit nights, I initially thought it might be a gloomy old landlord's house, but experiencing it firsthand far exceeded my expectations! It's a Chinese courtyard with a wonderful cultural atmosphere. The frangipani trees in the courtyard are abundant and fragrant, the pomegranate and jujube trees are laden with fruit, and sometimes little cats appear to keep you company while reading. The guesthouse is located within the ancient city, offering tranquility amidst the bustle. Stepping out, you're right on the old street, with bun shops, restaurants, and local specialty stores readily available – it's very convenient and full of local charm. My husband bought a long-coveted delicate copper kettle from a shop right outside, and that very evening, we enjoyed tea under the moonlight – it was truly delightful. A short walk to the right leads to Chaoyang Tower, and a short walk to the left takes you to Lin'an Railway Station for the small train. Zhu Family Garden is also not far. Overall, this guesthouse was the most satisfying of the four places I stayed during my Yunnan trip, and my favorite hotel I've ever stayed in while traveling. It's clean, well-equipped, offers attentive and thoughtful service, provides a comfortable living environment, and is imbued with a rich cultural ambiance. I wish this culturally rich guesthouse continued success. Highly recommended.

A truly delightful stay! This stay was a complete surprise! The hotel completely changed my perception of traditional hotels. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt the immense care put into every detail. In terms of hardware facilities, the modern design of the public areas made me feel very comfortable and sophisticated, with no hint of being outdated. The in-room facilities were very complete and comfortable, especially the mattress – it was just the right firmness with excellent support, allowing me to lie down and relax completely, ensuring a super comfortable night's sleep. The whole environment was decorated very warmly, giving a 'welcome home' feeling as soon as you entered. The service experience was an even bigger bonus. Every staff member had a kind smile, and their service was incredibly warm and attentive. From check-in to check-out, every step made me feel respected and valued. Overall, this is a hotel with a beautiful environment and excellent service. I highly recommend it to all travelers seeking quality!

The room is generally OK, the best thing is the mattress, it is very comfortable to sleep on. The location is good. It is very convenient to eat barbecue next door. It is only a 5-minute walk. There are also several large snack shops around. It is said that this is because there are many students from Jianshui private schools. The breakfast was ok, but there were too many people in the morning, and the hall for breakfast was cold without air conditioning. The wash area in the room is quite narrow, and the toilet is really small, which makes me feel like I am just shutting myself in. The room is not soundproofed, and any noise outside can be heard inside. The service staff was not as good as the previous comments said. I arrived at the hotel after 1:00 pm and they didn't arrange check-in yet. Objectively speaking, it can only be a quasi-four-star hotel, and its infrastructure and service management need to be improved.

When I checked out this morning, I asked the hotel to print out the bank statement. They told me the stamp wasn't at the hotel and they would mail it to me after they got it. But after I got to the high-speed rail station, they told me I had to order it myself. I argued with them, saying I could have it mailed, and after they placed the order, I discovered it was cash on delivery. You guys are really good at passing the buck!

We actually came back to this hotel for a second stay after visiting the terraces, which says a lot about the overall experience. The location is fantastic, very close to the old town and right by a lovely lake, making it really special. The girls at reception are also incredibly kind and helpful, even if they don’t speak English, they do their best using a translator. Cleanliness was decent but could be improved a bit. We would recommend choosing a higher-category room, as the basic ones feel a bit outdated and less comfortable. Overall, a great stay mainly thanks to the amazing location and the kindness of the staff.

We came to Jianshui by car. We found two hotels to compare. We first saw the all-season hotel. It was not bad. When we saw this Changyuan Hotel, we were attracted at once. The environment is very good. There is a large free parking lot. I especially feel the warm service of Xiaoqiu and Xiaoqiao. The attitude is amiable, there are questions and answers, full of affinity, are two very good young people, the room is quiet and comfortable, clean and tidy, no smell, breakfast is rich, next time you come to Jianshui, you will still live here.

The room was very spacious. It also had Xiaodu, which I could call to ask for anything I needed. It was very convenient. The staff smiled at me when they saw me, which made me feel better. There were also robots delivering meals. Because I checked in late, I checked out today, and the hotel extended my check-out time without any extra charges. It's really great to have such a nice hotel in a small county like Jianshui, and the price is so affordable. The service was great, and the stay was very comfortable. I'll stay here again next time I have the chance. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. 😋
