[Century-Old Residence · Timeless Flow]
"Jinghe North Courtyard" Inn was originally the Qing Dynasty-era Shen Family Ancestral House. Approved by the Jianshui County Government in 2020 as one of the first Historic and Cultural Preservation Residences in Jianshui, this 200-year-old Yunnan southern "Siheyuan" (quadrangle courtyard) underwent four years of meticulous restoration to preserve its architectural integrity. Every blue brick, gray tile, and weathered wall whispers the historical essence of "Yunnan's Scholarly Land." The hosts have curated the space with personal collections of antiques and ancient calligraphy and paintings, blending carved wooden windows, stone-laid corridors, and aged walls to recreate the elegance of late Qing and early Republican-era life.
[Cultural Core · A Journey Through Landmarks]
Nestled at the entrance of Jianshui Ancient City, adjacent to the city’s miniature railway station, the inn offers easy access to landmarks: Chaoyang Tower stands a 5-minute walk away, Zhu Family Garden and Confucius Temple are 10 minutes by foot, while Lin'an Street’s cobblestone charm awaits beyond the courtyard. Surrounded by public amenities—a bus stop, the Old Town Farmers’ Market, and Walmart Supermarket—the property seamlessly balances convenience with the city’s unhurried rhythm.
[Heritage Retreat · Dialogue Between Past and Present]
Guestrooms blend traditional linen fabrics, Jianshui purple pottery decor, and interactive antique displays in select suites. Start mornings by drawing water from the ancient well to brew tea; spend afternoons sunbathing with books in the courtyard; fall asleep to the melody of wind chimes and swallows’ songs. Here, travelers rediscover life’s simplicity amid Jianshui’s unique tranquility, forging unforgettable memories where history and modernity entwine.
"In the past few days, there will be light rain in the afternoon when playing in Jianshui, which brings a bit of coolness to the hot summer. The inn where I stayed today was built during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. It has a history of 150 years and has a standard layout. The house is warm in winter. It is cool in summer, hiding the wind and absorbing the air. It is very suitable for people to live in. It is quiet and peaceful. After entering, I couldn't help lowering my voice for fear of destroying the aura of the yard. The room is also good, with a log style and very warm. The room is also equipped with a refrigerator, which is summer-friendly [呑ya]. The space in the room is not too big or too small, just right. The room is too big and cannot gather energy, which is not suitable for Chinese people's health regimen. It seems that the innkeeper is very knowledgeable [Celebration] Five-star recommendation"
