Second stay here and the consistency is solid. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained — no drop in standards compared to my first visit. Service was smooth throughout. Special thanks to Joan for handling both check-in and check-out efficiently and professionally. Quick, clear, and hassle-free. Location is very convenient with easy access to nearby amenities and transport. We had a meal in Nishimura  is decent — not over the top, but reliable and well-managed. Overall, a dependable hotel that delivers consistently. Would return again.

Wonderful stay at Ascott Waterplace Surabaya – highly recommend! We had a fantastic stay at Ascott Waterplace Surabaya and couldn’t have asked for more. Location is unbeatable. Right on the waterfront with easy access to Pakuwon Mall and plenty of restaurants nearby. Everything felt convenient, and the view from the apartment was stunning, especially at night. The apartment was spotless and very clean throughout our stay. Housekeeping was thorough, and the space felt fresh, comfortable, and well-maintained from day one. A huge thank you to the staff for making it extra special. We mentioned it was my little girl’s birthday, and they went out of their way to prepare a lovely surprise for her. It was such a thoughtful touch that made her day and ours. The team was consistently helpful, friendly, and quick to assist with anything we needed. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located place in Surabaya with staff who genuinely care, Ascott Waterplace is it. We’ll definitely be back. Location is great, staffs are very friendly, breakfast is good, a very nice cafe downstairs stairs. Galaxy mall is within 3 minutes drive away and a lot of food within reach. The room is comfortable and clean. Good bed, kitchenette with coffee machine, washer dryer and huge fridge. Everything is great except for asking for high floor but was told highest is 3rd floor which is a disappointment as the road noise is a killer. It’s extremely noisy when there is siren or loud motors passing by, I have to turn on music to get to sleep.

Before my trip, I meticulously read numerous online reviews for this hotel, and after experiencing it firsthand, I now understand why the reviews are somewhat polarized. To be honest, the hotel's location and interior environment are quite good. The lobby and restaurant have an older charm, but the rooms are well-maintained. The linens felt slightly damp, but the bright interior lighting compensates for the natural light deficiencies due to the room's age. The hot water supply was also excellent, indicating that the hotel has invested in unseen yet comfort-ensuring aspects – something many poorly managed older hotels fail to do. The hotel features several courtyard areas, each surrounding a beautiful garden. These gardens have a French vintage aesthetic and are clearly well-maintained, though perhaps not with the same meticulous, high-luxury precision throughout. After all, given the hotel's size, it's unrealistic to expect every area to be managed like a boutique property. Breakfast was surprisingly good, especially the baked goods. The bread, though unassuming in appearance, had excellent texture and aroma, on par with top-tier bakeries in Shanghai. There were also many local Indonesian specialties; however, given the general characteristics and standards of Indonesian cuisine, it's best to approach these with cautious anticipation and try a small selection. Nevertheless, among all the good hotels I've stayed in during this trip, this one offered the most diverse and thoughtfully prepared local dishes – just don't compare them to the 'delicious' Western food standards and tastes. In summary, for this price (even the suites are quite affordable), staying in a hotel of this style offers excellent value for money. You can't compare it to hotels priced at 3000 and above, even if its historic exterior might suggest that caliber. The maintenance and staffing costs for such high-end establishments are simply on a different level.

This is supposed to be a five-star hotel, great location but the service was just so-so! There's only one all-day dining restaurant on the second floor. The towels were absolutely filthy, worse than what you'd find in a two-star hotel. They were discolored from white to gray and yet still provided to guests. Unacceptable... I can only give it two stars! The soundproofing in the room was also poor, and the facilities were worse than a three-star hotel back home. For a supposed five-star, I'm reluctantly giving it three stars.

The hotel is good, I stayed in an apartment. The room was spacious, but it didn't feel recently renovated. The hotel is conveniently located right next to a shopping mall. The soundproofing in the room was poor, and it's very close to a mosque. There was a loud prayer call from 3 AM onwards, which severely disrupted my sleep. On the positive side, the hotel staff were friendly and the breakfast was abundant.

The hotel environment was clean and comfortable, with spacious and bright rooms, well-maintained facilities. The staff were warm and attentive, and check-in was efficient. Breakfast was rich and delicious. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay and will choose this hotel again next time.
