5-Star Hotels in Surabaya

A truly excellent hotel. The environment is stunning. I had expected rain for my trip, but the weather turned out to be perfect, and I got to see some beautiful scenery. The hotel has a pool, which is fantastic for anyone who loves to swim. I was on a business trip, so unfortunately, I didn't have time to enjoy it. The staff's service attitude was exceptional. What impressed me most was that every morning at breakfast, they remembered my name when they saw me. It was a wonderful stay, and I'll definitely be back here the next time I visit Surabaya. Breakfast was also delicious.

This was my first time staying at Ascott Surabaya, and the experience was not very memorable for me. When I first arrived, the security staff were not proactive in helping unload my luggage from the taxi. Secondly, the lobby layout was not particularly impressive in my opinion. However, the staff were fairly friendly and explained the hotel facilities well. As for the room, it was decent and in good condition. The kitchen equipment was complete, and the microwave, washing machine, and dryer all worked well. The bathroom was clean, although I think it could be redesigned to look more modern. The check-out process went smoothly, but once again the security staff were disappointing. He just stood there without offering any help to load my luggage into the taxi. At that time I was carrying one large suitcase and one small one, so assistance would have been greatly appreciated. That should be part of a security staff’s responsibility, especially for a five-star hotel. For the location, Pakuwon Trade Center (PTC) is located right in front of the hotel, making it very convenient to visit Pakuwon Mall, the largest mall in Indonesia. For me, staying here once is enough. For some reason, I didn’t feel any significant comfort, especially for a five-star hotel, and the attitude of the security staff was very disappointing.

Thank you, Oakwood! The room was spacious and comfortable, with excellent facilities, perfect for our 11-day stay in downtown Surabaya. The parking area was convenient and ample. The service was outstanding, friendly, and very satisfying. And the sunset views were always captivating!

I had a very enjoyable stay and would like to thank the reception team for their excellent service.Their warm hospitality and willingness to help made every stay pleasant and memorable. Thank you for your professionalism and genuine care in looking after your guests. Your excellent service truly contributed to making my stay enjoyable. I would gladly return and highly recommend this hotel to others.

Before my trip, I meticulously read numerous online reviews for this hotel, and after experiencing it firsthand, I now understand why the reviews are somewhat polarized. To be honest, the hotel's location and interior environment are quite good. The lobby and restaurant have an older charm, but the rooms are well-maintained. The linens felt slightly damp, but the bright interior lighting compensates for the natural light deficiencies due to the room's age. The hot water supply was also excellent, indicating that the hotel has invested in unseen yet comfort-ensuring aspects – something many poorly managed older hotels fail to do. The hotel features several courtyard areas, each surrounding a beautiful garden. These gardens have a French vintage aesthetic and are clearly well-maintained, though perhaps not with the same meticulous, high-luxury precision throughout. After all, given the hotel's size, it's unrealistic to expect every area to be managed like a boutique property. Breakfast was surprisingly good, especially the baked goods. The bread, though unassuming in appearance, had excellent texture and aroma, on par with top-tier bakeries in Shanghai. There were also many local Indonesian specialties; however, given the general characteristics and standards of Indonesian cuisine, it's best to approach these with cautious anticipation and try a small selection. Nevertheless, among all the good hotels I've stayed in during this trip, this one offered the most diverse and thoughtfully prepared local dishes – just don't compare them to the 'delicious' Western food standards and tastes. In summary, for this price (even the suites are quite affordable), staying in a hotel of this style offers excellent value for money. You can't compare it to hotels priced at 3000 and above, even if its historic exterior might suggest that caliber. The maintenance and staffing costs for such high-end establishments are simply on a different level.

The hotel environment was clean and comfortable, with spacious and bright rooms, well-maintained facilities. The staff were warm and attentive, and check-in was efficient. Breakfast was rich and delicious. Overall, I had a very satisfying stay and will choose this hotel again next time.

The hotel room was great, but the breakfast was disappointing. Additionally, it would be helpful if the staff had a basic understanding of English to communicate with international guests. During breakfast, I asked a staff member whether the noodles contained beef. I was informed that they did not, but I later discovered that the soup was made with beef broth. As a Buddhist, I do not consume beef, so this was upsetting and could have been avoided with clearer communication and more accurate information.

The air conditioning in the first room was a bit noisy, but I contacted the front desk and they changed my room. The front desk staff was very helpful, and they even upgraded my room type, apologized, and gave me a small gift. Overall, my stay after that was quite good, and I slept comfortably.
