Outstanding
JJackyThe hotel is in a great location, with the Kamogawa River just outside the window, and a panoramic view of the cherry blossoms along the river. The Mizuki is especially delicious, and we were not satisfied even after two dinners in a row. The service and hygiene are impeccable, and except for the higher prices during the cherry blossom season, there is really no complaint.
EEnma _FoodieVery convenient, spacious, and modern Airbnb stay. The unit is well-equipped with almost everything you need, including a washing machine, drying rack, cooking utensils, grill stove, coffee machine, and other useful amenities. The space is surprisingly large and very comfortable, especially for families or groups.
The location is also great, with a grocery store, restaurants, and other conveniences nearby, making daily needs easily accessible.
One thing to note is that there is a cemetery directly behind the property. For guests who are sensitive to this, it may be something to consider before booking. However, if this does not bother you, the stay is otherwise excellent.
The only issue we encountered was during check-in. The elderly front desk staff could not communicate in English and was initially unwilling to assist us. Even though our booking was fully paid and confirmed, we had to repeatedly explain the situation before he finally provided the check-in code. It appeared that the information was already available in the system, so the process was more frustrating than necessary.
Other than the check-in experience, everything else was great. Overall, a comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped stay that offers excellent value for money.

AAnonymous UserService: Fantastic! Staff are extremely helpful and kind, thank you! We're offered welcome drink and dessert. Staff even helped to bring our luggages to the room.
Facilities: Great! Very quiet and private. Everything in the room are complimentary :)
Room: Everything's great! Onsen in room is nice!
To improve: Have more hooks/space to hang clothes will be even better. Bed is too soft to our likings. We didn't use the chair in the shower area too..

SSultanofparisThe hotel had an authentique Japanese feel to it , very spacious rooms , kind staff , and perfect location ! If you are coming from Tokyo to get another feel of Japan then this must be the perfect location !
Being used to major hotels in Tokyo , this came as a contrast , it felt like a traditional home but with all the luxuries you need. I highly recommend

GGaofeideying8848Hotel Okura Kyoto is a classic, top-tier five-star hotel. The service is incredibly attentive, and the rooms are spotless. We stayed in a triple room facing Higashiyama with views of the Kamo River. We had emailed the hotel in advance requesting a higher floor, and they certainly didn't disappoint! Breakfast was extensive, and dining while enjoying the views of Higashiyama and the Kamo River was wonderfully relaxing. It was very quiet at night, making for a peaceful sleep. From our room, we could even see attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The hotel's location is excellent, making it incredibly convenient to visit Nijo Castle, Kiyomizu-dera, and other sights. There's also a reception lounge at Kyoto Station, with a shuttle bus running back and forth for guests. This was our third visit to Kyoto, and this ancient city continues to leave us with such wonderful memories!

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is unbeatable, super convenient, and the service is excellent. Especially impressive was that they let me check in at 1 PM, even though most Japanese hotels only allow check-ins after 3 PM. That was great! As for facilities, they're definitely not the newest since it's not a recently renovated property. The soundproofing is a bit poor though; I could clearly hear the Japanese guests next door talking, which was a bit disruptive. Also, I think the breakfast could be more varied. Other than that, I have no complaints. The price was reasonable, and the pool was also very good. If I go to Kyoto again, I think this will be my top choice.

IIRADAThough the hotel itself is good (Iâm staying here for a second time), this time the service was awful.1) went to breakfast, me and my friend ordered 2 dishes, when in 20 mins time there still was nothing, we reminded a waitress of our order⊠another 20 mins - still nothing. All in all we spent 40 mins at the breakfast restaurant and didnât get our food. When we explained this to the hostess she just said âsorryâ and we left the restaurant hungry. 2) ordered afternoon tea for 3 persons (afternoon tea is served at another restaurant at the hotel). 2 normal sets and 1 for a person who doesnât like dairy products. That person is me. I explained that I have no allergy, I just donât like the taste of milk, cheese, et cetera. So Iâm fine with bread and with sweets, just not the ones that have cheese on top. In the end instead of the sweets they brought me a fruit platter (thatâs all, my friends got a lot of different sweets), when I again explained to the hostess that Iâm fine with sweets (sweet bread) and would like to eat the sweets included in the afternoon tea set she just said that they âprepared smth elseâ for me (she meant the fruit platter). No apology no anything. Mind you, I ordered afternoon tea last year at this same place - everything was alright! As this is a 5 star hotel and everything here is rather expensive (including breakfast and afternoon tea) this is unacceptable level if service.

GGuest UserMy wife and I booked the Classic Room for 3 nights in April 2025. We thought this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our trip.
From the moment you enter the hotel, you are welcomed by the hotel staff. You leave your bags with them and you walk up to a separate reception area where you are seated and offered tea and macarons. Check in is conducted while you sip your tea. After you get your keys, you go up to your room and your luggage bags are already there. We were very impressed by the reception.
The room itself is fairly sizeable and offers a cabinet of Fauchon snacks. We had a good view of the alley behind the hotel that was lined with Sakura trees. We could also see the mountains in the distance.
The location of the hotel is also great. It is located about a 5-10 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto and about a 5 minutes walk to Kiyomizu-gojo station.
We also had breakfast which included a free flow selection of bread and pastries like French croissant, baguette and brioche. You also get a fruit plate, salad, and omelette. If you stay for more than 1 night, you also get a premium breakfast menu for your 2nd night onwards.
We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we are in Kyoto.

Great
FFrankafuMy main goal for this Kyoto trip was to revisit Kiyomizu-dera and Fushimi Inari-taisha, and explore Kibune. So I chose to stay near Kawaramachi, and ended up picking this Hilton. The hotel is right by Shiyakusho-mae Station on the Tozai Line. I'd recommend using the Kawaramachi Plaza exit, as it's the only one with an escalator; if you use Exit 1, you'll have to carry your luggage yourself. Technically, you can't see Honno-ji Temple's graveyard from the hotel, but it is close to the road and can be a bit noisy at night. In the mornings, there are fewer motorcycles, and Sundays are quiet â I even slept through breakfast one day! You can walk to Keihan Sanjo Station, enjoying the Kamo River along the way. If you prefer, it's also just one subway stop. It's not far to walk to Kawaramachi Shijo either, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. This time, I surprisingly opted for a breakfast and dinner package. The variety was better than at Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo Premier, but they don't change their menus, so eating the same thing for three consecutive days can get a bit monotonous. As for a drawback, I'd suggest the hotel checks the elevator buttons â the static electricity is quite bad; I got shocked almost every time.

GGuest UserLove the location and the peace in Arashiyama. Nice place to relax after a very busy week visiting places in Osaka and Kyoto. Love the private bath in the room we bookedâ€ïž plus the private onsen bath especially if you have tattoo. Who doesnât love a free ice cream/cold green tea after onsenđ and donât miss the free ramen from 22:30-23:30 đ lastly, the staff are really nice, helpful, and the Japanese breakfast was very tasty! Beautiful experience and now we are well rested to visit other places in Japan!
