Hotels in Tian'anmen Square and Wangfujing Area, Beijing

My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Beijing was absolutely perfect, earning a full five-star review! I experienced both the main building and the traditional courtyard rooms. The location is superb, right next to Wangfujing and within walking distance to the Forbidden City, making getting around incredibly convenient. The hotel's design is truly unique and thoughtful. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and the amenities are high-quality and smell wonderful – every detail shows great care. Our butler, Willow, provided attentive and thoughtful service; she was warm, polite, and perfectly balanced, never being intrusive. The breakfast spread was extensive, featuring both authentic Beijing specialties and delicious Western options. The afternoon tea was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. This is definitely the top luxury hotel to stay at when visiting Beijing. Highly recommended!

Nestled in a traditional hutong, this hotel features a very serene and tranquil ambiance. The service exceeded expectations, and the housekeeping staff were extremely warm and welcoming. There are also adorable cats in the courtyard. Location-wise, it's simply superb! 👍 Heading out is a breeze, with the Longfusi commercial area within walking distance. For those up for a longer stroll, Nanluoguxiang is about 4 km away, and several internet-famous must-visit foodie spots are also nearby. Highly recommend this place! I'm a light sleeper, and the only minor drawback was that because the hutong courtyard is so lovely, many guests linger there until late at night before heading back to their rooms, and the doors can be a bit loud when closing.

The location is fantastic—right opposite the back entrance of Wangfujing Department Store, making it convenient to get anywhere. It truly offers the ultimate Wangfujing convenience. For instance, popular spots with notoriously long queues like Siji Minfu, Ziguangyuan, and Fangzhuanchang deliver right to the hotel, and the hotel robots bring the food directly to your room, saving you tons of waiting time. Since the Tian'anmen East and West subway stations were closed, we walked to the Tian'anmen Gate Tower and the Forbidden City. Even if you took a cab, you'd only be dropped off on a nearby street anyway, so walking was actually better. Getting to the Forbidden City is super easy: just head northwest to the Donghua Gate, then walk along the moat to the Meridian Gate entrance. One thing definitely worth mentioning: I misplaced two boxes of items during my stay. The front desk promptly checked the security footage, but couldn't find them, and the hotel compensated me for the loss.

I’m very thankful for the excellent service provided during my stay. The staff kindly allowed me to use the hotel’s mobile number to place a PDD order and helped receive the delivery on my behalf, ensuring everything arrived in good condition. The location is excellent, being very close to the metro exit, which made traveling with large luggage easy and convenient. Although the hotel is located in a busy shopping district, the area felt safe and remained surprisingly quiet at night. On the downside, the room often had a lingering smoke smell, as the hotel allows guests to smoke in their rooms. The single room was also a little cramped, though this did not bother me much since I was out for most of the day. Additionally, the hair dryer was not very powerful, so it took quite a while to dry my hair.

This is a hotel converted from a traditional courtyard house, so soundproofing is relatively poor. There's a flight of stairs to climb, and you have to pick up food deliveries yourself at the entrance. However, the interior is very clean and safe. The bedding and towels are spotless, especially the pillows which are super comfortable. The bathroom has a wet/dry separation, and the air conditioning is powerful. The location is excellent, within a 20-minute walk to the Forbidden City and 30 minutes to the National Museum. The front desk staff were also very helpful and changed my room when I booked the wrong one. Many thanks!

Amazing! We spent five nights staying in a deluxe king room with terrace/balcony at The Purple Horse Hotel in Beijing at the end of June 2026.. The location is excellent. The hotel is situated in the heart of a Hutong which offers a calm quiet and serene experience in the middle of a bustling city, only a short walk to restaurants and shops. The Hutong itself is a great experience, it's safe and friendly and we enjoyed chatting to the locals at the corner shop. The hotel is absolutely wonderful. It's less than two years old and It is finished to a really high standard, the attention to detail is incredible. It felt luxurious with the highest quality furnishings and the bathroom and shower were like something you would find in a spa. Our room had great views over the Hutong and the Beijing skyline and had excellent air conditioning. We had a buffet breakfast and a buffet dinner included and it was delicious and served in a beautiful restaurant on the top floor. Above that there was an amazing rooftop terrace with an outdoor swimming pool, a cocktail bar and 360⁰ views of the city. There is also a Peking duck restaurant on the ground floor, a gym and a self service complimentary laundry room. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. The level of service and the attentiveness of the staff is at a level that we have never experienced before. The staff are super friendly and polite and they are always trying to help. Our room was cleaned to an immaculate level every day and we were often left little gifts and kind notes. The service in the restaurant was great and once again always really kind and friendly, special mention to Nieve for looking after us so well. Anything we needed, any questions we had, the staff really went out of their way to help us and did so with big smiles on their faces and we had fun times in our interactions with them. Everyone had a good level of English, especially the front for house staff and management . If you want a comfortable, clean, modern hotel with great facilities, in a great, safe location and would like staff that will advise and help you and direct you and even organise trips and transport for you, then this is the hotel for you. We would like to thank some of the staff that really went out of their way to help us. Ella and Anduo who organised a print shop for us and helped us find some specific gift shops. Nieve for making us smile everyday in the restaurant. The housekeeping team for making our room so clean, comfortable and amazing every day. Terry the manager for being a really nice guy, for taking the time to talk to us and ask us if we needed anything everyday. We have stayed in hotels all over the world but this one will always stand out for being that little bit different, for being so immaculate and for going the extra mile. Environment: It's located in a very small alley, making it difficult for cars to access. The whole place is like a traditional courtyard house, and some rooms are not in the main building. There are some cute cats in the courtyard. Cleanliness: Overall, it's okay, but not exceptionally good. Facilities: The decor is a few years old, so it's not exactly new. The restaurant is small. The 'Elegant King' room has no windows, and even the 'Deluxe King' might not have windows, which is quite a drawback. There's no mini-fridge in the room; you have to ask the front desk to store anything cold. Service: Honestly, this was the worst Atour I've ever stayed at, and I won't choose them again. The front desk staff was neither sharp nor good at explaining room details to guests. Plus, they clearly weren't paying attention to their work; once they sent laundry detergent packets instead of a laundry bag, and another time they almost delivered my takeout to the wrong room.

Staying at the Great Hall of the People Hotel was a great experience overall. The hotel service was thoughtful and meticulous, and the staff were friendly and approachable. The location is uniquely advantageous, very close to Security Checkpoint 7 at Tiananmen Square, making it incredibly convenient for watching the flag-raising ceremony and getting around. Breakfast offered a rich variety of dishes. The only minor drawback was that arriving by transportation was a bit circuitous. The room was comfortable, and it made watching the flag-raising ceremony particularly hassle-free, making it very suitable for traveling with older family members. Highly recommended.

The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable. The host, a lovely lady, was so kind and helpful throughout my stay, making me feel completely at ease. The location is super convenient, close to both the Forbidden City and the west campus of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. This trip to Beijing for my re-examination really showed me the city's kindness and warmth; I'm deeply touched.

Location wise this is next to Wangfujing Street and metro stop. The metro stop exit is 2 minutes from the hotel. The hotel room is basic but has what you would need. The bathroom is very outdated and functioning. The mini supermarket and luckin coffee being in the hotel were so helpful. For the location this is a great place to stay.
