The Beach Palace Ramsgate ★★★★

"My family and I spent this past weekend at The Beach Palace Ramsgate (18th-20th October 2024). Alida and the rest of the staff were pleasantly welcoming and hospitable throughout our stay. They were meticulous in everything they did and we were made to feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Positioned in a quiet, safe area, The Beach Palace itself is absolutely gorgeous with it's sophisticated interior and exterior design. Perfectly manicured lawns, well maintained gardens, pool and gym area, as well as spectacular sea views all add to its luxurious ambience. We were treated to a scrumptious breakfast each morning and all amenities were available to us which we took full advantage of even though the weather was not entirely on our side. We still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Putting all of this aside though, I find it important to make this known... my sons are autistic and it makes us extremely anxious to take them out of their routine for fear of meltdowns or tantrums. However, this weekend we all enjoyed two nights of uninterrupted, peaceful sleep which is the most we've had in the past 3 years. The Beach Palace is actually therapeutic in the sense that it provides a sensory experience for children like mine with it's wide open spaces, lush greenery and the sounds, smell and feel of the ocean. The result of this was that they were more regulated during the day, eliminating the need for any other intervention. Parents in the autistic community will agree with me when I say we would give a vital organ to experience just one day of "normality" and we got to experience two! I would highly recommend The Beach Palace when considering a family holiday especially if you have a child on the spectrum."

"It was our first time at Margate Beach Club and just a word of advice. When booking try and book a sea facing room, they are stunning and well worth it. We had a non sea-facing room. Small and depressing unfortunately. The Generator also had a catch, on but only on at set times, we only found this out at the room. On a super hot evening with loadshedding at 03:00-05:00..horrible.. otherwise than that the resort is lovely, the staff very welcoming and stunning pool and views, from outside and sea facing rooms !"

"Does not correspond to the specifications of the pictures. Everything is just beautifully photographed. Dilapidated and musty furniture that is unacceptable. The breakfast and cutlery were not portable. The coffee was served from a green coffee pot with a nasty brown spout that was at least 30 years old. No air conditioning and no adequate ventilation. The pedestal fan could not be used because it was far too loud. The winter garden had a temperature of at least 35 - 40 degrees. No possibility of fresh air supply. Defective loungers and a safe where a guest took the key. We were then given a spare key. Then our departure. In addition, the whole area seemed unsafe to us."

"Best Bean bunny Margate, Ramsgate, Shelly Beach. Everywhere. Visiting folks in Margate for a month or 2. Used to Durban bunny chow and the big names there like Hollywood bunny bar, Britannia, Cane cutters. Tried a few places here on the South Coast but nothing satisfied.That is untill I found Resh's... I have been living on bean curry's for the last 8 years. If a restaurant can do a bean curry right you know they know what they are doing. Authentic Durban flavours! A match for the big boys any day! Their curries are the best, but there's a variety of dishes on the menu. Follow them on Facebook for daily updates. Tried all the rest, here on the South Coast, Resh's is the best. They have WhatsApp delivery or available on uber... Cater for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans alike. A must try if you're on holiday!"
