MM33651****It was a very satisfying living experience. The boss was easygoing and friendly. I also liked the style of the room. There was no peculiar smell, it was very clean, and it was very comfortable to live in. Frankly speaking, this was the most comfortable place I stayed in during my two-week trip to Xinjiang. It had the cleanliness and tidiness of a hotel, but with some human touch, like visiting a friend's home. The most important thing was that I met a little puppy who liked me and I liked him very much too. Next time I come to Xinjiang, I will stay at his house again and visit my little friend.
GGuest UserVery clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Lacked in amenities - no normal towels provided, No couch or table to use for sitting or eating. Only the bed with one pillow per guest was provided for all your needs. Even though I personally had no use for Chinese tv , it did not have one. Even though it is a new building the large space had rather Awkward layout with toilet lack of privacy and door hitting the commode when opening more than halfway.
Great, friendly and enthusiastic staff more than make up for the physical shortcomings however. We enjoyed our space. Being a new hotel, I am sure they can use my observations constructively and improve their facilities.
GGuest UserElla is a conscientious and gracious host who has cultivated a warm and fun environment. I had a great experience sleeping in the comfortable dorm which was a very fair price by China standards as well. Facilities are new and clean. I slept well on a comfy bed in a relatively quiet neighborhood that’s still very close to the ancient city. Also you can take a taxi directly to her Homestay whereas in the ancient city you have to carry your bags at least a few hundred meters from taxi drop off. Ella was patient and answered all of my touristic questions while caring for the other guests too. Also she often prepares a potluck meal for a fair price. I met many interesting travellers here too so if you are looking for a good base to rest that meets your social and touristic needs as well Ella’s home is the place for you. Probably my favorite hostel in my month in China. Shame I have to leave. The private rooms look quite cozy as well
TTravis and ElishaWow! What an amazing place to stay and how lucky we were to find it. By far the best place we stayed in China. Mrs. Li (the owner) was so genuinely nice and caring, and we felt like part of the family staying there. One of my favorite things in Kashgar was hanging out with her and her family in the evenings. She always invited us at night to hangout in the common area where she would make us tea and share her fresh and dried fruits with us. She was really good at using a translator app, so we were able to have a good conversation with her through that.
She has a great little family. Her son speaks good English and was also very nice. She had a young daughter who also speaks English, but is more shy with it (though she will sing you a Taylor Swift song..she has a great voice). They have 3 cats and the youngest one, little tiger, is just the sweetest and the friendliest cat I have ever met.
It was such a good and warm feeling to stay there. We definitely wish we could visit again. A home away from home. And we were treated so generously in more ways than we can write here.
Mrs. Li asked us right away if there was anything she could help us with, without us having to ask, which we really appreciated, and she took the time to sit down with us to go over our plans. She let us store our luggage for 3 days and walked us out to help us get a taxi when we departed.
While it was the family that made it simply amazing, some might also be interested in the following information.
The location is great. On a quiet street. Close to the big mosque which is a good landmark to use to find the area. And of course close to the old city. It's also really close to the biggest supermarket we have found thus far in China (we have to admit it was nice to get a few ”luxuries” from home like cereal and hot chocolate).
The guesthouse is cute and has a Central Asian feel. The shower works great and is hot. We were there in the winter, and the room has heat if you needed it. Mrs. Li was able to arrange a driver for us to go to Tashkorgun and the Karakorum Highway, which was super helpful. The place was nice and clean.
Thank you so much Mrs. Li! You will be a highlight of our visit to China and will be remembered in our hearts forever.

PS: when we get home I'm going to try to write up a bit about our trip on Tripadvisor because I couldn't find anything about Kashgar on trip advisor since covid, and some things have changed, so I thought it might be helpful for fellow travelers, so look for that.

AAnonymous UserThe location of the homestay is particularly good. It takes a few steps to enter the ancient city. It is also close to a very classic punching point. The architectural style outside is superb! The homestay has a large rooftop and public space. You can drink tea and snacks when you are free. In short, it is very casual and comfortable! The young lady at the homestay is also super nice! It's been a great help!

GGuest UserI am a Korean (local taste) on a long-term trip.
The downtown hotel I was staying at had the only fried rice I could eat.
It didn't come out, so I moved here. I rode the bus here and there on the Godeok map and ate cold noodles and kimbap (90% Korean flavor) run by a northeastern person at a street vendor in Goseongnae (next to the elementary school).
There was no noise and it was clean, so the bed was comfortable.
Even though it was a morning flight, he connected me with a friend's taxi at a low price.
I was grateful for the consideration of the owner, a young and kind Chinese woman.
My Chinese listening skills improved slightly through conversations with the president and his mother.
It was nice to see the children running around and playing.
A few days next to innocent-looking Uyghur people
I felt comfortable staying there, so I am leaving a review.
If you want to stay in a rural atmosphere, speak a little Chinese, know how to use Godeokjido, and take an early morning flight, this is a very attractive accommodation.
EemdethuongI wanted some place inside the Old City that accepts foreigners. This one does accept foreigners, for all foreign travellers out there. The homestay I booked was closed unnoticed. I showed up at the place completely getting confused. But after some body languages later I finally found some help on the street to talk to the owner through phone. He came to pick me and took me to another homestay of his sister which is also in the Old City complex. The room was smaller than the one I booked but I agreed to stay anyway. Trip Customer Service contacted later to apologize for the inconvenience amd compensate me with Trip coins which I was fine with. The home owner (Han people) was warm and welcoming so I will leave the unlucky event off my mind. All convos between me and the owner are via translation app since no one speaks English and it is all going well. Helpful people.
The first photo was the Jingyi homestay which was closed for the season. The rest of the photos were the other homestay within the Old City complex that I was taken to, not far from Jingyi.

AANWhat can I say: awesome place, awesome room, awesome hosts. Alyx is speaks little English but WeChat translate and other translate apps, helps with the English-Chinese barrier.
Along with the extremely warm hospitality with his wife who made an effort to make me breakfast before my early 2 day tour at 8 am which is not part of the expenses, made my stay in Kashgar worth wild. With my little Chinese, we exchanged cultural experiences and it was like we were old time friends.
He even patiently helped with booking a tour to Lake Karakul and to Tashkurgan, along with getting a border permit (where the tour company was harrassing him for extra info since they never dealt with a foreigner before) and which was unknownly in the Lonely planet guide but under Karakoram Highway section.
Thanks for making my stay feel like another home - with friends rather than another business in another city for a female solo traveller.

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent, just a hundred meters from the landmark mosque in the old city, with plenty of dining and shopping options nearby. It's also very convenient for exploring the old city. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy, and the facilities are well-maintained. It offers great value for money and is a recommended place to stay.
