The B&B's location is super convenient! It's not on the main street, but just a two or three-minute walk to both the main street and the local snack market. This means it's peaceful and quiet, yet still incredibly handy for everything. The room was cozy and comfortable, and also very quiet. The garden view was simple yet elegant. A big thank you to the manager, she was absolutely wonderful and paid attention to every detail. My whole family was really happy with our stay, highly recommend it!

Shaxi is a place where you can enjoy pastoral scenery, pristine nature, and relax. Here, you can not only experience the history of the Ancient Tea Horse Road but also see the blue sky and white clouds of the countryside, with the wind rustling through the trees. Shaping Village, Beilong Village, and Hualong Village surround Shaxi Ancient Town. Shaping Village is located north of the ancient town, a 7-8 minute drive away. Each village has its own unique characteristics, and there are electric shuttle buses between them for 20 yuan per vehicle. If you want to avoid the hassle of price gouging and crowds in the ancient town, I recommend staying in one of these three villages. It's convenient for getting around and allows you to deeply experience the quiet rural life.
I stumbled upon an introduction to Cunshang Village Homestay and was immediately drawn to this hidden gem in the countryside. The owners, Dahua and his wife, are both hospitable and attentive, and the quality of the homestay is evident in every detail: the decor not only features the characteristics of Bai ethnic minority houses but also reflects a natural, unspoiled feel. Different colored soil is used to decorate the walls, the succulents in the courtyard are full of life, and the air is filled with the fragrance of magnolia and osmanthus blossoms.
The room's decor was eco-friendly and convenient, with the natural wood walls and floors complementing the surrounding environment perfectly. The Kohler bathroom fixtures were spotless, and the floors were vacuumed and then manually wiped with cloths – the cleanliness rivaled that of a five-star hotel. Although the room didn't have a TV, isn't the point of traveling to such a place to fully immerse oneself in rural life? It's also worth noting that the guesthouse's shampoo and shower gel are biodegradable products with natural essential oils, and Dahua thoughtfully provided soap powder containing baking soda.
Every morning, Mrs. Dahua makes handmade bread and Shaxi-style rice noodles for guests. We were also fortunate enough to sample Shaxi specialties like bean noodles and fried dough sticks. The courtyard also offers lunch and dinner, a fusion of Chinese and Western cuisine, with harmonious food presentation. Even without dining in a restaurant, you can experience the flavors and aromas of local cuisine and the sophistication of a Michelin-starred restaurant. Mrs. Dahua's cooking not only prioritizes health, using less oil and salt, but also perfectly brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Dahua himself has many years of outdoor experience. The only slight regret was that we didn't get to meet him this time because he was leading a hiking trip. However, he was incredibly thoughtful, carefully recommending transportation tips, a guide to Shibao Mountain, and recommendations for nearby restaurants.
I must say, the trip to Shaxi was the most successful part of the entire trip. Especially the few days spent at the village guesthouse, I experienced the tranquility of Shaxi and witnessed Dahua's family's earnest attitude towards life.

I had a very pleasant stay at 沙溪归尘 and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Shaxi who is looking for a clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully run homestay.
Room & Facilities
The house is very clean and well maintained — everything feels new and well cared for. My room was cozy and comfortable, and the bed was especially nice, which helped me rest well. One thing I really appreciated was that the room even had a washing machine, which is a big plus for longer trips.
The garden is also lovely and adds to the calm, relaxed atmosphere of the place.
Breakfast & Thoughtful Touches
Breakfast was prepared by the owner, and the 米线 (mixian) was honestly the best I had during my entire Yunnan trip — comforting, well-balanced, and made with care. Before bedtime, the owner even brought us a warm glass of milk 🥛, which was such a thoughtful and heart-warming gesture.
Location & Morning Mist at 玉津桥
One important thing to note for travelers who plan to catch the morning mist or sunrise at 玉津桥: the homestay does not provide early-morning transfer services, only after 9:00am. The homestay is about 1.5km from 玉津桥, so it’s important to arrange your own transport in advance (for example, 小黄车).
I learned this a bit late — at around 7:30am — and almost missed the sunrise timing. Walking there in the early morning was very cold and takes about 30minutes for 1.5km. Luckily, I after walked for a while I met a very kind local let’s call him “小白车师傅” who had just dropped his child at school near the homestay. He generously gave me a free ride to the bridge. Thanks to him, I managed to make it in time.
Minor Miscommunication
At check-in, I was told there would be unlimited transfers to Shaxi Ancient Town, so I assumed that an early drop-off closer to the town (and then walking to the bridge) might be possible. However, in the morning, the owner needed to stay back to prepare breakfast and couldn’t leave. This was a small miscommunication, and it would be helpful if early-morning transport limitations were clarified more clearly in advance.
Overall Impression
Other than this minor issue, my stay at 沙溪归尘 was truly pleasant. The cleanliness, comfort, homemade breakfast, and thoughtful details made it a very warm and memorable experience. I would still happily recommend this homestay and would consider staying again — just with early transport planned ahead next time.

This guesthouse has a story to tell. There's a 530-year-old ancient tree right by the entrance, home to a family of squirrels. As soon as I entered the room, I found a pair of chestnut-dyed cloth squirrels placed on the bed. Lying on the third-floor bed, the old tree glowed with life under the setting sun. The indigo-dyed soft couch on the terrace made me fall in love with Yunnan's sunshine, and the abundant flowers and plants everywhere showed the owner's passion for life. The guesthouse manager and the young lady's tea and dishes were unforgettable; that elegant, down-to-earth charm makes me want to return to this place again and again.

I'm already home but still thinking about my three days in Shaxi!!!
1. Location + Parking 🅿️: The guesthouse was very easy to find, and since we drove, we wanted a place with parking. There's a small road in front of the guesthouse where you can park, which was very convenient 😊.
2. Ambiance: As soon as we stepped out of the car and entered, we were pleasantly surprised. It's a very comfortable and stylish courtyard. When we didn't go out, sitting in the courtyard and having some tea was incredibly relaxing. I also loved the room's decor – it was clean, hygienic, and had a subtle, pleasant aroma. There were small tables and chairs outside the room where we could relax.
3. Service: The guesthouse owner, the front desk lady, and the auntie were all super nice and enthusiastic. They gave us great tips for exploring the ancient town, and their daily greetings felt like catching up with old friends. (The breakfast was really delicious!)
There's also a super cute cat named Huanhuan at the guesthouse!!!! So spiritual!! And very friendly!!! Every time I came back, I'd look for the cat first, haha!!!
Overall, it was a very happy and relaxing trip! If I get a chance to visit Shaxi again, I'll definitely stay here again 🥰.

This guesthouse completely exceeded my expectations! The courtyard landscaping clearly shows the owner's dedication, with beautifully arranged stone steps and plants. Enjoying warm milk and fresh, delicious treats in the courtyard at night was lovely. The room was even more surprising – fully equipped with modern facilities, high-quality bathroom amenities, and bedding. It perfectly blends traditional charm with contemporary comfort. Opening the window reveals layers of distant mountains and rice paddies; the scenery is incredibly therapeutic! The most convenient part is being able to park right at the entrance, which is fantastic for those driving. It's just a few minutes' walk to the main street of the ancient town, offering a perfect balance of quietude and accessibility. The owner was warm and attentive, providing excellent recommendations for food and routes. I sincerely recommend this place to anyone visiting Shaxi; staying here will definitely enhance your trip!

This is a place I never want to leave! The environment is fantastic, and it's so comfortable to stay here. Ming Ge is incredibly kind! And the *er-si* (rice noodles) made by the auntie are absolutely, unbelievably, explosively delicious, plus they offer late-night milk 🥛. Oh, and the adorable latte (the cat) even snuck into our room wanting to sleep with us, hahahahaha. Yunnan truly is such a relaxing and healing place. I'll definitely be back to Du An! I've already recommended Du An to so many friends; it's a must-try when you visit Shaxi! 🤙🏻

Shuaiqidexiaohouzhi827It was super convenient to get back to the hotel after exploring the ancient town. The design is really impressive, with a natural wood and Song Dynasty-inspired aesthetic that perfectly matches Shaxi's rustic charm. The courtyard with its flowing water, wooden corridors, and the gentle, Zen-like atmosphere as soon as you open the door is just lovely 🍃. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bedding was so soft, and the bathroom facilities were convenient and clean. After a shower, curling up in bed and watching 'Meet Yourself' just melted away all the day's fatigue. There's 24-hour butler service and afternoon tea upon check-in – sipping tea, listening to the wind, and watching the fish play in the pond amidst the misty atmosphere was truly relaxing 🐟. Waking up early, enjoying breakfast, and then just gazing out the window at the scenery, listening to the wind and rain, is truly living that slow-paced 'wind-filled' life.

Guest UserThe courtyard is absolutely beautiful! My sister recommended this place, and it truly is stunning. It's even more delightful in person, and the room was spotlessly clean with all the necessary disposables. My friend and I didn't bring much, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the toiletries were from well-known brands, making us feel very comfortable and at ease. In the mornings, some tourists would take photos by the courtyard entrance, but the owner would politely ask them to keep their voices down so as not to disturb our rest. We even locked ourselves out late at night, and the owner, being incredibly kind, came out to help us open the door. Honestly, it's just a fantastic place, I loved it and will definitely be back!

A fantastic experience, the most satisfying guesthouse I stayed at during my Yunnan trip. The decor was thoughtful, a blend of vintage and rustic styles, with freshly picked wildflowers in the room. The room layout was very practical. There was a small courtyard, and the rooms had large floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views of the fields and mountains. It's a little distance from the ancient town, but not far, and the owner helps arrange shared bikes, making it convenient to get around the surrounding area. The owner prepared the breakfast himself, and it was delicious. Staying here was incredibly relaxing; I was completely satisfied! 👍
