GGuest UserI stayed here for four or five days straight, and it was truly wonderful! The shower had a huge overhead rainfall showerhead with great water pressure, and the room's soundproofing was excellent. Every morning, the landlady would prepare a lovely breakfast. The entire building probably only has six or seven rooms. There were too many people taking photos in the scenic area, so I ended up taking all my pictures downstairs at the guesthouse – they turned out great! The owner can offer pick-up and drop-off to Shaxi Ancient Town (it's very close), or you can use the guesthouse's electric scooter for free. The hotel's location is convenient for getting anywhere, and there's also free parking for cars, which was a lifesaver since we drove all the way from Dali Airport!

The rooms are beautifully designed—simple yet elegant, very clean, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail reflects a thoughtful blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.
What stood out most was the warm hospitality. The hosts were genuinely welcoming and made the stay feel personal and special, always ready to help with anything we needed. The host will send you to ShaXi ancient town and fetch you back. One of the best ancient town we had visited during this trip.
If you’re looking for a quiet, authentic countryside experience with comfort and heart, this place is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended!

Room & Facilities
The house is very clean and well maintained — everything feels new and well cared for. My room was cozy and comfortable, and the bed was especially nice, which helped me rest well. One thing I really appreciated was that the room even had a washing machine, which is a big plus for longer trips.
The garden is also lovely and adds to the calm, relaxed atmosphere of the place.
Breakfast & Thoughtful Touches
Breakfast was prepared by the owner, and the 米线 (mixian) was honestly the best I had during my entire Yunnan trip — comforting, well-balanced, and made with care. Before bedtime, the owner even brought us a warm glass of milk 🥛, which was such a thoughtful and heart-warming gesture.
Location & Morning Mist at 玉津桥
One important thing to note for travelers who plan to catch the morning mist or sunrise at 玉津桥: the homestay does not provide early-morning transfer services, only after 9:00am. The homestay is about 1.5km from 玉津桥, so it’s important to arrange your own transport in advance (for example, 小黄车).
I learned this a bit late — at around 7:30am — and almost missed the sunrise timing. Walking there in the early morning was very cold and takes about 30minutes for 1.5km. Luckily, I after walked for a while I met a very kind local let’s call him “小白车师傅” who had just dropped his child at school near the homestay. He generously gave me a free ride to the bridge. Thanks to him, I managed to make it in time.
Minor Miscommunication
At check-in, I was told there would be unlimited transfers to Shaxi Ancient Town, so I assumed that an early drop-off closer to the town (and then walking to the bridge) might be possible. However, in the morning, the owner needed to stay back to prepare breakfast and couldn’t leave. This was a small miscommunication, and it would be helpful if early-morning transport limitations were clarified more clearly in advance.
Overall Impression
Other than this minor issue, my stay at 沙溪归尘 was truly pleasant. The cleanliness, comfort, homemade breakfast, and thoughtful details made it a very warm and memorable experience. I would still happily recommend this homestay and would consider staying again — just with early transport planned ahead next time.

GGuest UserThis guesthouse has a story to tell. There's a 530-year-old ancient tree right by the entrance, home to a family of squirrels. As soon as I entered the room, I found a pair of chestnut-dyed cloth squirrels placed on the bed. Lying on the third-floor bed, the old tree glowed with life under the setting sun. The indigo-dyed soft couch on the terrace made me fall in love with Yunnan's sunshine, and the abundant flowers and plants everywhere showed the owner's passion for life. The guesthouse manager and the young lady's tea and dishes were unforgettable; that elegant, down-to-earth charm makes me want to return to this place again and again.

We discovered a charming new homestay in Shaxi, conveniently located within walking distance of Shaxi Ancient Town, the filming location for the drama series ”Meet Yourself 去有风的地方.” During our visit, we noticed many tourists capturing photos at the various shooting locations, adding a lively atmosphere to the area. Unlike Dali Ancient Town, Shaxi feels less commercialized, which enhances its authentic charm.
One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying a marvelous mushroom hotpot at Tea Horse Road; it was definitely worth every penny. The flavors were exquisite, and the experience was truly memorable.
Our room was clean and well-equipped with modern bathroom amenities, ensuring a comfortable stay. However, one minor discomfort was that the toilet did not have a door, which might be a consideration for some guests.
The owner of the homestay was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They brewed a delightful welcome tea for us and provided hot milk, which was a lovely touch. Additionally, they assisted us in arranging transportation from Shaxi to Lijiang, making our travel plans much easier. Overall, our experience at the homestay was enjoyable, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and authentic stay in Shaxi.

The design is really impressive, with a natural wood and Song Dynasty-inspired aesthetic that perfectly matches Shaxi's rustic charm. The courtyard with its flowing water, wooden corridors, and the gentle, Zen-like atmosphere as soon as you open the door is just lovely 🍃. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bedding was so soft, and the bathroom facilities were convenient and clean. After a shower, curling up in bed and watching 'Meet Yourself' just melted away all the day's fatigue. There's 24-hour butler service and afternoon tea upon check-in – sipping tea, listening to the wind, and watching the fish play in the pond amidst the misty atmosphere was truly relaxing 🐟. Waking up early, enjoying breakfast, and then just gazing out the window at the scenery, listening to the wind and rain, is truly living that slow-paced 'wind-filled' life.

JjessicazengA beautiful guesthouse with a lovely and serene inner courtyard and modern, renovated accommodations and facilities! Shaxi is not large, so from this guesthouse location, we were able to easily walk around the streets of Shaxi. Perfect location!
It's in the heart of the village, so from where our driver dropped us off (our previous guesthouse in Dali helped us arrange a carpool to Shaxi), we still had to walk around ~7-10 minutes. The streets of Shaxi are the cobblestone type, so it wasn't easy to bring our heavy luggage over (needed to carry it by hand, which was strenuous, tiring, and slow). To prepare, I had asked on trip.com messaging if there was anything to know before we got there and had even informed them about our arrival time ahead of time, but unfortunately didn't know this would be an issue - it would have been nice if they told us before and offered to help. But apparently you can tell the guesthouse if you do need help, and they can assist you with your luggage when you first arrive (they might have a luggage cart). When we left, the ladies helped us with our suitcases, which was definitely appreciated. Additionally, the staff helped arrange a carpool to Lijiang for the next day. Staff was nice in person.
The room is perfectly comfortable and clean, with a very modern and fancy bathroom. I found the beds quite comfortable; it was perfect for two. Though the room is on the first floor, it wasn't loud or noisy. The breakfast was also surprisingly really nice (we opted for sandwiches and some noodles, I think I picked er si), including fruit, corn, and sweet potato. Got served a beautiful latte with refined latte art too. We really liked just sitting around in the courtyard too after walking around the village; the way they've designed it is so tranquil and relaxing, perfectly fitting with the ambiance of Shaxi. There was also a friendly cat (apparently not owned by the guesthouse, but the cat likes visiting often) roaming around.
Note: Even though this review in English, we spoke to the staff in Chinese. It seems other foreign guests have stayed here before too though! Overall, would recommend!

GGuest UserThe courtyard is absolutely beautiful! My sister recommended this place, and it truly is stunning. It's even more delightful in person, and the room was spotlessly clean with all the necessary disposables. My friend and I didn't bring much, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the toiletries were from well-known brands, making us feel very comfortable and at ease. In the mornings, some tourists would take photos by the courtyard entrance, but the owner would politely ask them to keep their voices down so as not to disturb our rest. We even locked ourselves out late at night, and the owner, being incredibly kind, came out to help us open the door. Honestly, it's just a fantastic place, I loved it and will definitely be back!

Upon arrival, the owners warmly greeted us at the gate. The family acted like old friends, inviting us for tea and sharing local stories and activities. [They even invited us to a local wedding banquet that evening]. This feeling of being with family and friends is something standard hotels can never provide.
🏡 Unique and tasteful decor
The decor was very distinctive and tasteful. The rooms featured antique items and handmade decorations, with thoughtful details everywhere. My room had a view of the countryside, which I absolutely loved. It was also incredibly quiet at night, and I slept very well.
🌾 Immersed in idyllic rural scenery
The guesthouse's location was truly exceptional! Every window offered a picturesque rural landscape. Occasionally, a small dog would run across the paddy fields, or a farmer would pass by—it was incredibly peaceful. There was no urban hustle and bustle here, only the sounds of nature breathing; it truly realized the ”life I longed for.” 💝 Delightful Details The owner recommended a fantastic route for us to see the morning mist, and we even borrowed their electric scooter. They charged it overnight and tidied it up early the next morning – their thoughtfulness was evident. We also received a small gift before leaving, which was incredibly touching!
