"This guesthouse in Shaxi Ancient Town is an absolute steal! We stayed for four nights and both room types we experienced were fantastic. First off, the overall design and attention to detail are stunning. The stairwells have nightlights, and the rooms themselves are beautifully decorated in a retro style with excellent natural light. When the sun shines in, all your worries just melt away! Secondly, the auntie who cleans is incredibly thorough; the rooms are spotless, and all the facilities are brand new and complete. On top of that, the young couple who own the place are wonderfully attentive and warm. They helped us with our luggage, offered pick-up and drop-off services, and were always happy to help with anything we needed. Every evening, they'd invite us to gather around the stove for tea and chats, making our stay incredibly pleasant. Compared to all these other perks, its excellent location almost seems like a minor detail. Highly recommend!"

"What a beautiful hotel. It’s rather new, very clean and I like the modern facilities especially the smart toilet. The room is big and the view is amazing - received a free upgrade as it was my partner’s birthday. Mattress was very comfy but the pillows were rather flat but I realised it was the same with all the other hotels in stayed in Kunming. The room and facilities were well-thought and I appreciate the laundry detergent provided at the sink (first time I’ve ever seen laundry detergent provided in a hotel sink and I thought it was very thoughtful for people that wash initimates or socks at the sink). The staff and the boss were friendly and accommodating - the boss offered to do our laundry for free as the washing machine was not available when we were there. The hotel is close to Shaxi ancient town so it was peaceful as away from the crowd (but Shaxi is nice, slow and peaceful anyway… and the people are so nice!). The breakfast was a set meal with er si (noodles) and porridge - the noodles was very delicious. Regretted not staying more than 1 night in Shaxi… would love to return to this hotel some day soon!"

"Location- quite a distance from old town but the owner will send you Service- service was generally good. The Nai Nai and lady boss looked after our needs well. We did our laundry but since we were going to the old town, they offered to help us take out the laundry, put in the dryer and placed the clean clothes in our room after. A very sweet gesture. Nai Nai also cooked excellent homely breakfast. Even my fussy kids ate well! One area to improve on is the complimentary tie-dye activity. we had to ask the owner 3 times before we got the voucher. And he only gave us one voucher (despite us being entitled to one per day and we booked a 3 day 2 nights stay). The tie dye is a handkerchief (cannot upgrade to clothes). My son really enjoyed the activity! Amenities - the hotel exterior is traditional and renovated. The room interior is modern and high tech. The light over our dining table was spoilt so we had to eat in the dark and try to use the toilet light to improve visuality Overall, a very nice family-run hotel that seems to be recently renovated, very clean with good amenities."

"Location is inside the ancient town. Just a 5 mins walk from the shared car drop point location. We took a shared car from Dali to Shaxi. It is near the local market and the radius for the ancient town is not so huge so walking in this area is so pleasant in early March. We were able to take many good photos . Food around this area was good too. There is electric bed to keep us warm during our sleep. The owner helped us to get back to Dali using a shared travel van which we opted as we have luggages otherwise one can take the public bus for 50 RMB to reach Dali train station."

"Facilities: All the amenities were great and new. The wooden house had a lot of character. Cleanliness: Clean, no strange odors. Environment: The environment was the absolute best! It happened to be raining, and the sound of the rain on the roof was like perfect white noise – so relaxing. Service: The butler was incredibly attentive. Since I was traveling alone, the butler sister even checked in to make sure I arrived safely. For breakfast, I chose the Western option. Although simple, it was very thoughtfully prepared, and the fruits and vegetables were fresh. I thought it was fantastic! I only stayed one day this time, but I'll definitely come back for a longer stay if I get the chance."

"I really loved this guesthouse; it was the most peaceful and comfortable place I stayed in Shaxi during my trip. A big thank you to the warm and friendly front desk staff for preparing afternoon tea, breakfast, and even a goodnight dessert for me. Since it was quite cold, they even turned on the electric blanket and air conditioning in advance. It offers great value for money with spacious rooms and a comfortable environment and service. I truly highly recommend it!"

"I have been to Shaxi twice. This time I really didn't want to leave. I felt the goodwill of the boss and his wife for 4 days here, and I wanted to return to the same warmth. The boss and his wife are sincere and enthusiastic. They have not felt their sincerity, kindness and enthusiasm in the workplace for a long time. Guangdong flavor we a little want to drink soup, they intimately provide the kitchen so that we can cook by ourselves, eat their own light meal and drink a soup is really happy. The bedding in the room is very comfortable and there are disposable towels and bath towels. It is very convenient. There are also free small eDonkeys. Sometimes the small eDonkeys are ridden by other guests. The boss will also drive back and forth to the ancient town and cafes, which is especially warm. In front of the courtyard, we have our own vegetable garden, and invite us to pick fresh vegetables, the ingredients are natural and authentic. The courtyard is clean and elegant, sitting in a rocking chair reading a book or feeding fish in your free time, leisurely and comfortable. The breakfast and afternoon tea made by the proprietress herself taste great, and I look forward to it every day. The homestay is also very close to Buduoyu and convenient for travel. Looking forward to coming to Shaxi next time, I will borrow the mountains and look at the wild."

"I originally booked a standard room, but upon arrival, Ms. Duan upgraded me to a garden-view room, and then had afternoon tea delivered directly to my room. This level of service really made for a great experience. Besides the brand-new towels, the room also provided complimentary disposable bath and face towels (this is the first time I've seen this in my many trips to Yunnan), and Ms. Duan even encouraged me to take them home. Although the guesthouse is a bit further from the bustling center of the ancient town, it's only about a 7-minute walk, and I even inadvertently passed by the spot where the 'Fairy Sister' had her phone knocked over. This guesthouse definitely earns a permanent spot on my Shaxi favorites list."

"The owner is very kind and speaks good English. She was very helpful in giving advice for where to visit in Shaxi. The location is great, right in the best part of old town. I stayed in the small one bed room. It's perfect for a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable and warm. The toilet/shower is downstairs. Its a little small, but is acceptable. The walls are very thin so if you are there when it's busy (spring festival for me) it can be loud. But if it were a quieter time of year I think it would have been just fine. Overall the value was really good for me and I would highly recommend this inn!"

The family acted like old friends, inviting us for tea and sharing local stories and activities. [They even invited us to a local wedding banquet that evening]. This feeling of being with family and friends is something standard hotels can never provide. 🏡 Unique and tasteful decor The decor was very distinctive and tasteful. The rooms featured antique items and handmade decorations, with thoughtful details everywhere. My room had a view of the countryside, which I absolutely loved. It was also incredibly quiet at night, and I slept very well. 🌾 Immersed in idyllic rural scenery The guesthouse's location was truly exceptional! Every window offered a picturesque rural landscape. Occasionally, a small dog would run across the paddy fields, or a farmer would pass by—it was incredibly peaceful. There was no urban hustle and bustle here, only the sounds of nature breathing; it truly realized the ”life I longed for.” 💝 Delightful Details The owner recommended a fantastic route for us to see the morning mist, and we even borrowed their electric scooter. They charged it overnight and tidied it up early the next morning – their thoughtfulness was evident. We also received a small gift before leaving, which was incredibly touching! Highly recommend this warm, scenic, and relaxing place. It was an unforgettable and heartwarming experience. Highly recommended!
