Before our family of three visited Shaxi Ancient Town, we called Mr. Zhao, the owner of the guesthouse, for advice. He explained the location and surrounding area in detail, which convinced us to book immediately. On the day of our arrival, Mr. Zhao called in advance to inquire about our itinerary, reserve a parking space, and even waited at the door to help with our luggage. He also thoughtfully introduced the facilities and travel tips. The guesthouse is only a few minutes' walk from the ancient town, and parking is available right outside, which is incredibly convenient for traveling with a child. The courtyard is elegant and clean, and our child loved it as soon as we entered. The tatami area in the first-floor room was perfect for our child to play and relax while we chatted and drank tea without disturbing each other. In the morning, we could see the garden view from the window, and the breakfast prepared by the owner's wife was also very satisfying for our child. This thoughtfulness from booking to check-in made our trip full of warmth. If you're going to Shaxi, this guesthouse is definitely worth considering; it will surely give you a comfortable experience.

A very satisfying stay! I booked this place because I loved its style. The guesthouse has two courtyards with flowers, grass, trees, and a super cute chubby cat named Tuantuan! 🐱❤️
The entire hotel was new and clean. The staff were incredibly welcoming, helping with my luggage as soon as I got out of the car. They were also very helpful and responsive to any questions I asked on WeChat. They even provided welcome fruit, afternoon tea, and a sweet evening soup. This was my first time in Shaxi, and the many small details of the hotel touched me and increased my positive impression of Shaxi. 😘
The hotel also offers a free traditional Chinese armchair craft experience, which was really fun! The hotel is located in the ancient town, and if you want to visit the surrounding villages, the staff will help arrange transportation and recommend less crowded, photogenic spots. I went to a coffee shop recommended by the hotel, and it was absolutely gorgeous! I also saw a stunning sunset! 🌄

Guest UserStepping into Shaxi Ancient Town felt like embracing a gentle dream, a delightful surprise on my solo journey. This hidden gem of a guesthouse, near the North Gate, is truly special. Sunlight filters beautifully through the wooden window frames, perfect for lingering all morning. Open the door and you're greeted by a flagstone path and the charm of an old alley, with picturesque photo spots everywhere. It's super convenient too; Sifangtai and Yulu Bridge are just a short walk away. The room itself was quiet and cozy, with a super soft mattress that smelled like it had been sun-dried. The owner is incredibly warm and thoughtful, a sensitive and kind young woman who takes amazing photos. Her pour-over coffee and teas are fantastic, and all her recommendations for local Yunnan snacks and dishes were spot on – not a single bad pick!

The location and cleanliness were both excellent. The courtyard was built in the Bai ethnic architectural style, and the guest rooms were exquisitely decorated with a unique flair, showing the owner's attention to detail. My room was called ”Sunny Evening,” and it featured a poem by Lu You, ”Written Playfully Outside the Gate After the Rain,” perhaps the name of the inn and the room were derived from this poem. The nights in Shaxi were very quiet, with a dazzling starry sky. The landlady took me to the third-floor terrace to stargaze.

Guest UserThe overall feeling is comfortable and at ease. From check-in to check-out, the feeling of being free and easy always accompanies me.
I arrived at around nine o'clock in the evening, took a taxi to the main temple, called the housekeeper to pick me up, and walked to the inn in two or three minutes.
The room is clean and refreshing, and the decoration combines the characteristics of Shaxi with many modern elements. The hot water needs to be left for a while, and the temperature is very good. I was surprised that the water can be so hot on a winter night. The room was a little cool without air conditioning in mid-December, and the temperature was just right for my physique that is afraid of heat but not cold. The bed was thick and comfortable, and I lay down and had a good night's sleep.
There is a 1.5-hour time difference between Shaxi and Beijing time. Of course, you can go to the town to stroll after 9 o'clock in the evening. It is very close to the Grand Theater Commercial Street, and you can say that you can get there by just raising your feet. The day of check-in was the fifteenth day of the winter month. Looking at the bright moon hanging in the sky, accompanied by the twinkling stars around, even breathing feels clear and thorough! There were not many people, and bars and teahouses along the way were still open, accompanied by guitars and singing. Unfortunately, I am not good at drinking and afraid of smoking. After wandering around for a long time, I decided to go back to the inn. As a result, hahahaha, there were housekeepers and guests roasting fire together in the hotel lobby. There was water, tea, and peanuts roasted on the fire at any time. It was a great pleasure to chat with strangers.
Early in the morning, I went out to the Heihui River again, watching the morning mist floating slightly and the distant mountains in sight. People who had not moved for a long time could not help but run and wander in the beautiful scenery. Blown through by the cold wind of the winter morning, people were tired from running. When I returned to the inn, a hot breakfast was served. I could only imagine the comfort.
The inn is a courtyard on three sides. During the day, the warm sun shines. The old painter who comes to check in every day writes his memoirs in the courtyard, accompanied by a pot of tea. The endless green of the courtyard and the red clothes dotted in it make people gradually intoxicated.

This hotel, 'Absolute Art,' is truly artistic, LOL. The breakfast is served à la carte, not buffet style, but the taste is excellent. What's key is the entire property is huge, with the Yaoye Bookstore in the back where you can get blind boxes of old books, and the Sanyi Coffee shop that overlooks the entire Shaxi old town. There's even a slide from the second floor to the first, which is so much fun! I'll definitely be back next year~

Shaxi Pureland was truly a home away from home. The thoughtfully designed interiors, the warm and welcoming service, and the delicious, healthy breakfast were all incredibly impressive – seriously, it was wonderful! A special thank you to Xiaoqiu and Xiaohui for their considerate and attentive care! And thanks for the bedtime milk, the felt souvenir, and the little gourd! Goodbye Shaxi, see you next time!

Guest UserThe courtyard is absolutely beautiful! My sister recommended this place, and it truly is stunning. It's even more delightful in person, and the room was spotlessly clean with all the necessary disposables. My friend and I didn't bring much, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the toiletries were from well-known brands, making us feel very comfortable and at ease. In the mornings, some tourists would take photos by the courtyard entrance, but the owner would politely ask them to keep their voices down so as not to disturb our rest. We even locked ourselves out late at night, and the owner, being incredibly kind, came out to help us open the door. Honestly, it's just a fantastic place, I loved it and will definitely be back!

Anonymous UserThe location is fantastic, nestled in a quiet spot within the ancient town, about a 5-minute walk to Yujin Bridge. It has its own parking lot, and the butler will send you the parking location beforehand. They pre-pay the parking fee, which the hotel then reimburses upon check-out.
As for the hotel's facilities and service, I'd give it a perfect 10. I stayed for 3 nights, and the hotel upgraded my room. It was larger and located in the inner courtyard, making it quieter, so I slept wonderfully every night. The main dishes for all three breakfasts were different – the wontons, rice noodles, and Ersi (a local noodle dish) were all delicious, and the coffee was excellent too. I also have to mention that the hotel's fruits and vegetables were incredibly fresh and sweet; I'm truly envious of the people of Yunnan! Afternoon tea can be delivered to your room, and it was different every day, beautifully presented, and the cakes were tasty.
The bathroom in the room was excellent, with a separate wet and dry area. The shower stall was huge, and the toiletries were high-quality, including soft toothbrushes and moisturizing lotion, all very good.
If I ever return to Shaxi, I would definitely want to stay at Ji Xia Shan again. Shaxi in the off-season is just like something out of a play – warm, friendly, simple, and reassuring, making you want to get closer and find the strength to start anew!

Anonymous UserWe are a group of 4 cyclists from Malaysia. We find this Inn to be one of our best stays during our journey. A cozy & comfortable place right smacked in the Ancient Town of Shaxi. It is slightly hidden ~ you need to walk down a stone steps to see it. Very convenient to the food and market area and the main street in the Ancient Town where the attractions are. The best thing we like is the personalised service given by the staff especially a young lady at the counter. She is very helpful in every way & informative too! I personally would be staying here again if I visit Shaxi.
