Nishihoppo Onsen Hotel

9.7/10
Amazing

Just wanna share my experience of staying in this beautiful hotel. 1- The location and the views from the hotel are just amazing! Especially during sunsets! 2- The personal and stuff of the hotel are super super friendly, if I could I would give 10 stars for the hospitality. 3- Onsens and the view are something out from this world 4- What I was really amazed is the kitchen and the chef that is cooking. If you stay in this hotel I highly recommend take the breakfast and dinners. You will have a high class food with a presentation and explanation of each dish by the servant. Best experience 5- Last but not the least I forgot my speaker in the hotel. The stuff brought it back the same day to me to another hotel I moved after NISHIHOPPO. So guys, less words more actions! 10 stars to this amazing hotel and it’s owner. My respect.

It was my first time to experience Japanese tatami, which was very unique and had a beautiful view from the window. The room was large and air-conditioned for heating. People who are afraid of cold may not feel that warm, but it will be much better after taking a hot spring bath. The kelp snacks in the room were delicious, and I bought some when I left. Private hot springs are reserved for a fee. The yukata in the room is relatively simple. The best thing is that the hotel provides station pick-up service, and you can go directly to the Wild Monkey Park without luggage the next morning. After the tour, go to the coffee shop next to the parking lot where you get off and call the hotel to pick you up. The hotel will help you carry your luggage and send you directly from the Wild Monkey Park to Yudanaka Station, which is very convenient for independent travel!

Excellent onsen river. Very delicious kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast. Location is excellent walking half an hour from the station and half an hour to the monkey park. You can visit 9 public baths for free. Onsen in the hotel is small but very hot, dilute cold water, otherwise you can get raw. Staff foreigners who speak excellent English. The view from the window room above the recipe comes to the famous river. Sinks and toilets are common, but all next to the rooms. The price is excellent. Very recommended.

The price is super good, breakfast and dinner are included, the boss staff are very kind, will talk to the parents again, you can ski in out , The hotel will have an old driver's hand car to help you park. The hotel isolation is a cable car ticket shop. The scenery is very beautiful. You can soak in the hot springs when you return to the hotel. Dobby will have a drink. There are a few like Japanese club meds, And the hotel decoration ring is made up of flowers on the top of the mountain, very thoughtful! And Shiga Yuxue is really thick and slippery!

Excellent Ryokan located in the center of Shibu Onsen, right at the bus stop. The hotel is very typical and traditional, run by the Takimoto family. The private Onsen are excellent and very well maintained. Everything perfect, top welcome and services! We went during the winter with snow and we did not suffer from the cold inside the rooms. Very good and very rich dinner!

It was brilliant! It is the same with pictures on this site. They gave me yukata and towel and changed it every day. I had a tea and enjoyed it on my balcony. I tried a futon at first time in my life. I had my own reserved table for breakfast. ❗❗❗The hotel has its own bus with driver, which took me to the Snow Monkey Park and to the station for free! Actually staff was so polite! It is seems like you are someone important. Actually the only one minus that you can't go to all 9 Shibu Onsen's baths, but just to 9th bath only. But the hotel has its own bath even open-air. It was really nice and comfortable accommodation.

Hoshikawakan

We really enjoyed our week long stay at Hoshikawakan in Jan 2026. We have been driving around Hakuba for 4 weeks to visit various ski resorts and spent our last week at Hoshikawakan to visit Shiga Kogen. The room was spacious and clean with a small toilet like most Japanese hotels but there was a large public onsen and 2 smaller private onsens that can be reserved once each day for 30mins so you could always take your shower in the onsens like the locals do especially later at night about 10-11pm where I was the only one in the public onsen. The hotel had a lovely buffet breakfast spread with local soba, Japnese curry, cold minced sashimi fish, grill fish station, fried eggs station that will keep you adequately fed for the day's ski trip - it even has a hot drink station with free oden daily at 3-5.30pm which we enjoyed as a snack after a hard day of skiiing. The service was excellent too with the staff helpfully arranging to ship our ski equipment directly to Hanade Airport, daily clearing of snow off the carpark and new towels provided daily. The location in Yudanaka is great too especially if you drive as it is between Shiga Kogen (25-35mins drive) and Kita Shiga Kogen (15-20mins drive) with many attractions like Shibu Onsen, Yudanaka Brewery and Snow Monkey Park within 10-15 drive. There were also ample dinner options nearby within 10-15 mins walk but you may need to try and make reservations by walking in on your first night. The only downside was that the WiFi network is poor and patchy when overloaded by a lot of guests over the weekend but otherwise it was good.

It was cheap and very good! What particularly impressed me was that the front desk staff greeted me with a smile until I left, and were polite and kind in explaining things to foreign guests. I felt very at ease ❤️

Stayed in Japanese style room. Plenty big enough for three. Pillows were rock hard but futons comfy. No english channels on tv. Shared bath house which was great. Stayed start April so most restaurant and shops shut, very little choice. Had buffet breakfast at hotel which had good variety . would recommend hotel if you can pick up a deal. straight across the road from inchiose skifield but very limited lifts open and actually walked about 15 minutes down the road to other fields with a lot more lifts running. As spring we were able to catch chairlift for free to then ski down to gondola to buy lift tickets. Good skiing on Olympic courses.

More traditional Japanese-style hotel, dinner is eaten at the izakaya opposite, there are packages and a la carte to choose from, OK, relatively quiet, breakfast is simple, there is bread coffee juice, if you can be rich, it is better
