A true gem of a hotel! It's exquisite, compact, and wonderfully quiet with excellent soundproofing. The staff provides exceptional, warm service. A few days before arrival, a butler reached out to confirm our itinerary. They offer a complimentary GL8 private car service for transfers to and from the station, and the butler promptly responds to any requests. Breakfast is a set menu; our room included two portions, which was more than enough for two adults and one child, especially since the noodles and drinks were unlimited. The most delightful surprise was the night amenities: face masks, earplugs, eye masks, and disposable bathtub liners – everything you could need! Upon departure, we received a thoughtful souvenir: a beautiful shoulder bag filled with Datong specialties like millet, dried apricots, yogurt, and oil tea. An all-around fantastic experience!

A very cozy and comfortable B&B, located right in the ancient town's pedestrian street, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling area. The courtyard is spacious, the rooms are clean, and all amenities are of high quality. Breakfast is plentiful, and the staff are friendly. The location is excellent, with all of the ancient town's attractions within walking distance, which is great when traveling with kids as it saves a lot of hassle. Plus, many popular restaurants often have long queues, but because this place is so close, you can easily grab takeout and enjoy your meal back at the hotel, saving a lot of waiting time. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! From the airport pick-up, to checking in, and all the way to checking out, everything was smooth and pleasant. All the staff, from those handling the airport transfers, to the front desk, housekeeping, and other services, were incredibly warm and caring. You could really feel their genuine dedication to service and their passion for working at Nian Xia (Summer in the Southeast). The room itself was great too, with welcome fruits and all the amenities you could need. It's also super convenient for getting around and finding places to eat. Plus, with your room key, you get free entry to the Nian Xia Art Museum, which features INART and Tiankai sculptures – absolutely amazing!

It perfectly captures the elegance of Pingcheng during the Northern Wei Dynasty and integrates it into everyday life. Beneath its antique exterior lies an experience of ultimate modern luxury. ✨ The rooms are spacious and airy, featuring original elm wood furniture paired with panoramic glass designs. The ancient wooden beams retain their natural texture, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and healing. ✈️ **Convenient Location**: Situated in the core Dongnanyi district of the ancient city, stepping out leads you directly onto cobblestone streets. It's within walking distance to historical sites like Huayan Temple, Guandi Temple, Wenmiao Temple, and the Nine Dragon Wall. The entire complex, with its grey brick and wooden corridors, is quiet and private, ensuring great photo opportunities. Wooden lattice windows, flying eaves, winding corridors, and courtyard greenery are all picture-perfect, providing an inherent antique filter without needing to seek out specific photo spots. 🏠 **Top-notch Amenities**: Equipped with King Koil mattresses, Dyson hair dryers, full L'Occitane toiletries, and intelligent thermostatic bathrooms, every detail speaks to high quality. 🌙 **Exceptional Service**: One-on-one butler service is a true bonus, filled with thoughtful details. A dedicated butler handles check-in, check-out, and even provides pick-up and drop-off services. Every evening, warm milk and traditional Chinese medicine foot soak packets are prepared – a perfect way to relieve tired feet after a day of exploring the ancient city. Any requests are promptly and attentively met, without perfunctory service.

We came to Datong for a family trip and chose Dongxin Chengji Hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied. The room was more spacious than expected; the two beds were plenty big, and our child didn't feel cramped at all. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, so there was no morning rush or queuing to wash up. The front desk staff was very sweet and welcoming. The soundproofing was great at night, allowing our kid to sleep soundly and wake up fully energized—we didn't miss a beat exploring the Ancient City the next day! Getting around is also very convenient, with plenty of dining options nearby and cabs easy to catch right outside. We’ll definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to Datong.

The hotel staff called in advance to ask about my needs, and even brought complimentary desserts and fruit. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location is super convenient; a ride-hailing service to Datong Ancient City costs only 13 yuan and takes less than ten minutes. There are also large shopping malls nearby, so finding places to eat isn't a problem. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Datong!

Datong truly surprised me in the best way possible! Strolling along the ancient city walls or stepping into the Yungang Grottoes, the majestic Northern Wei dynasty grandeur and profound historical weight that span a thousand years just wash over you – it's incredibly awe-inspiring. Beyond the stunning ancient architecture, Datong's food is simply unforgettable. A bowl of authentic knife-cut noodles and a serving of Hunyuan cold noodles are not only generously portioned but also absolutely delicious. This city perfectly blends historical grandeur with a vibrant, everyday atmosphere. It's definitely worth making a special trip!

This was a last-minute hotel change for me. When I arrived, my room wasn't ready yet, but the young lady at the front desk immediately and proactively helped me switch rooms and upgraded me. The deluxe twin room was very spacious; it felt almost empty for just me. The room was very clean, the bedding had no strange odors, and the facilities were new. Both the bathroom and the washroom had motion-sensor lights, and the toiletries had a lovely, fresh scent. The only minor issue was the toilet flush button, which needed a firm press all the way down to flush properly. All the staff I encountered were very polite. Breakfast was extensive, and the staff were constantly attentive to your needs, whether it was refilling tea or getting condiments – they were right there to help, which was great. There are many good restaurants nearby, like Xijindao Noodle House and Tianyuan Beiweijia Feast. When checking out, they proactively gave me a thoughtful souvenir gift, including aged vinegar, millet, and some local specialty snacks, which was a very nice touch.

I stayed at the VIP Building for over ten days during my summer escape to Datong, and overall, I was very satisfied. It was an excellent choice. The hotel has a large footprint and a great location. You can walk north to the ancient city or south to large shopping malls like Parkson and Xingjuhui. Of course, taking a taxi is even more convenient; for around ten yuan, you can get to many places in the city. The hotel boasts a spacious courtyard, making self-parking very easy. There's also an underground parking garage with direct elevator access to the ground floor lobby. Within the courtyard, Datong Hotel and the VIP Building are arranged one behind the other. The courtyard is filled with fountains and greenery, creating a very pleasant environment. From the hotel courtyard, you can descend steps to Xinguo Temple and Yingbin Plaza. Even better, for those who find stairs difficult, there's a separate elevator for convenient access. The park isn't small at all; it offers a new beautiful view at every turn, and you can also visit the ancient Ming Dynasty Xinguo Temple. Hotel breakfast is served on the first floor of the VIP Building, offering both Chinese and Western cuisine. The selection is incredibly rich, and the best part is the abundance of hot dishes. The flavors are a refreshing change from the usual local fare—light, not spicy, and not greasy, making them exceptionally delicious. My favorite was the stir-fried tomatoes with eggs. The knife-sliced noodles are also a must-try; the chef slices and cooks them fresh right in front of you. Kuai Lei (a local specialty) is also a must-eat. Plates are cleared promptly, service is attentive, and they even offer takeaway service for those who sleep in. Lunch and dinner are served at the second-floor restaurant, offering good food at reasonable prices. Additionally, ordering takeout to the hotel is very convenient. There's a swimming pool with standard lanes on the basement floor, but during the summer, it gets quite crowded and a bit chaotic with many children learning to swim. There's a self-service laundry on the first floor of the hotel. The room provides unlimited drinking water, an iron, and buckwheat pillows, but there's no refrigerator, which is a bit inconvenient. We stayed in a suite, and while it had two bathrooms, only the master bedroom's bathroom had a shower and a bathtub. One minor complaint: the bathroom faucet splashes quite a bit if you turn the water on too strong. As for the service, we later upgraded to a room on the ninth floor for a few days. A special thanks to the cleaning lady; she was incredibly nice. The engineering department also provided us with assistance. In summary, this is an excellent choice for a holiday retreat: three meals a day, walks in the park, and convenient taxi access for exploring the city and shopping. It's truly the best option.
