1. Quiet and convenient taxi access (taxi fares in Datong are genuinely cheap).
2. The courtyard is very new, but there's no unpleasant renovation smell. The heating is strong and plentiful, and hot water is readily availableāessential in the dead of winter.
3. The housekeeper was incredibly kind. Knowing we booked an early morning tour, they were willing to get up at 5 AM to make breakfast. We were so grateful; breakfast normally starts at 7 AM.

MMoxiaoI came to Datong for a weekend temporarily. I originally looked at the luxury brand homestays that were twice as expensive in the surrounding area. I really couldnāt get down. I looked at the hotel outside the ancient city. It didnāt meet the needs of this walk. I finally chose this Baili Designer B&B. The experience far exceeded expectations.
The homestay provides a free pick-up station, back and forth are GL8, the master is talkative, the front desk service is warm and patient, and the store takes the initiative to upgrade the room to two levels, arranged on the quiet side, and the view outside the window is wide.
The location is also very convenient, not far from several major attractions in the ancient city, all within walking distance, and the surrounding area is very quiet at night. The breakfast is well-matched and the taste is online. It is recommended that you can add some local characteristics, but Xiaomi Liaogin is really delicious and shocked...
The overall atmosphere is relaxed and not deliberate. I feel my conscience and say that the price is not high in the general local environment, but the experience is really good. I think if I come to Datong again, I will probably live.
Finally, I am very grateful to all the friends of the hotel for their reception. I hope to see you next time. Thank you Jingjing, Shuai Shuai, Xu Jun. On the first night, I asked if I could get two more bottles of water. I didnāt expect to bring a bucket of Baisui Mountain directly to us. I was shocked...hard work...

LLaura å³ęWe absolutely loved staying here! It was such a hidden gem and so so nice. A beautiful courtyard to sit and have morning coffee, great styled room, cozy and warm. The hosts were amazing and made homemade breakfast every morning, whatever we wanted to eat. It was truly an exceptional experience. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable, affordable, authentic experience in Datong.

KKatrin SauthoffMy husband and I are a couple from Germany. We booked two nights there, and our decision was absolutely the right one. From the initial contact (via the WeChat app, which is essential for your entire trip to China) to our departure, everything was perfect. We were picked up from the train station by car and taken to the hotel free of charge. This is especially good for Western tourists who don't speak Chinese. The first problem would have been explaining to the taxi where we wanted to go. The lobby and rooms are very beautiful, stylish, and equipped with the highest technology. Most of the guest rooms face the inner courtyard, so you can sleep very quietly and comfortably. The beds are very large and comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent. It's located on the northern edge of the Ancient City of Datong, just a few minutes' walk from the tourist attractions and the colorful and lively old town. So you can enjoy it without being disturbed by noise. I would especially like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Unfortunately, we don't speak Chinese, and the staff didn't speak English, but with the help of modern communication tools (language apps), we understood each other perfectly. Every request was fulfilled. There's even the option to use a washing machine in the basement of the hotel. This is especially fantastic for tourists on longer trips to China, as it allows for easy laundry. If you ever come back to China, we will definitely book this hotel again.

GGuest UserI've wanted to stay here for a long time, and this family trip finally made that dream come true. The check-in experience was excellent, and the facilities showed incredible attention to detail. The complimentary toiletries pack even included electric toothbrushes and Gillette razors, and all the snacks provided were from Sam's Club. Breakfast was exceptional ā an Ć la carte style where they'd prepare whatever you ordered. Everything tasted fantastic, and there were plenty of choices. Enjoying delicious pastries in the courtyard under the sun was a truly wonderful experience!
In the evening, friends came over, and we sat on the courtyard sofa, chatted, drank tea, and watched the clouds in the night sky. We even caught a drone show from Dai Wang Mansion, which was truly delightful! We also toured the owner's private museum and wine cellar. It certainly lives up to its reputation as a courtyard built with 200 million yuan; the main gate in the middle is 200 years old. Every detail exudes taste and grandeur!
The service was excellent too. Although there weren't many staff members, they were very responsive. When my shoes got wet in the heavy rain, they even brought a hairdryer to dry them for me ā I was truly grateful! In short, the value for money at this price is unbeatable! Five-star recommendation! ššššš
Overall, a fantastic stay, but I do have a few suggestions to offer:
1. Only the door could be opened for ventilation in the room; the windows didn't open. It would be great if there was a way to allow for cross-ventilation.
2. The hotel doesn't provide parking vouchers. While overnight parking was only 20 yuan, offering vouchers would enhance the guest experience.
3. Perhaps due to concerns about some guests occupying a room with too many people, I was repeatedly asked during check-in how many individuals were staying in our room, which I found a bit off-putting.

GGuest UserI discovered a treasure of a B&B hotel that opened this month~~ Pingchengfu is very close to various attractions. In two days, I went to Yungang Grottoes, Huayan Temple, Shanhua Temple, Datong Museum, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, Jingtu Temple, and watched the sunset from the city wall, the intangible cultural heritage of iron flower, etc. Datong city construction is great! Overall, the accommodation experience was full, and I also ate at Kaige Restaurant and Longjuxiang recommended by locals. The overall travel experience was great! Thank you for the service of the B&B brothers and sisters, which is very good. The environment is quiet in the bustling city, and the decoration is antique. If I have the opportunity to come to Datong again next time, I will continue to book! Looking forward to seeing you next time

GGuest UserIt was my first time in Datong and I spent a long time choosing a hotel. I finally chose Manxin Hotel. The experience was great. I made an appointment for the high-speed rail pick-up in advance, which was very punctual. The hotel environment was also very good. The front desk lobby was bar-style and very comfortable. All the service staff in the hotel were very good, very enthusiastic and thoughtful. The breakfast was also very rich and very good. I strongly recommend this Manxin Hotel to Datong. It's really great!

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

GGuest UserThe room lighting is too dark, and you have to rely on the TV to increase the light source. It is already 11:30 in the evening. The people who drink in the lobby outside are still talking and singing and listening to music. The room is relatively humid, and people who don't sleep well are not recommended to live. The only light source for the three small lights! Except for the bathroom with a round mirror.
