Datong Hotels with Bars

The brand really makes a difference; the quality is truly guaranteed. I've stayed at Huazhu before in Zhejiang, but this was my first time at Lux, and it's definitely a cut above. First off, the decor is incredibly distinctive – the furniture, bedding, oil paintings, and everything else show exceptional taste. The service was also incredibly thoughtful; they patiently explained local delicacies and sightseeing tips. Breakfast was great too, especially the knife-cut noodles, which tasted just as good as any outside noodle shop. We even made coffee soap! It's very convenient for visiting Daiwang Mansion and Huayan Temple. Highly recommended!

A very cozy and comfortable B&B, located right in the ancient town's pedestrian street, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling area. The courtyard is spacious, the rooms are clean, and all amenities are of high quality. Breakfast is plentiful, and the staff are friendly. The location is excellent, with all of the ancient town's attractions within walking distance, which is great when traveling with kids as it saves a lot of hassle. Plus, many popular restaurants often have long queues, but because this place is so close, you can easily grab takeout and enjoy your meal back at the hotel, saving a lot of waiting time. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Datong.

A small inn inside a new development within the old city, within a few minutes walk of the city wall, where you can climb up and walk the wall.    The hotel and surrounding development was created in the traditional style.     Clean, newly built , managed well, provided a good breakfast,  room furnishings were a higher quality than an average hotel.     Underground parking garage was convenient.     If I had to improve anything, I would find a way to turn off the bath area sink mirror night light.   It was distracting to try to sleep with the room bathed in bright blue light ( more like a studio, not a fully separate bathroom )... I ended up sticking a towel against it to block most of the light.

This hotel is absolutely stunning! First off, it's a new establishment from a major international brand, and the decor is definitely worth admiring, especially the public area's soft furnishings – very stylish. The rooms are also very spacious, more than enough for 2 adults and 2 children. The bathroom has a three-part design, which is great for privacy. Plus, there were welcome fruits and a mini-bar, definitely a cut above most business hotels. The breakfast was delicious too, with a wide variety of options. As someone not from Shanxi, I couldn't tell the difference between their 'Dao Xiao Mian' (knife-cut noodles) and 'Xi Jin Dao' (another local dish). In terms of location, it's not within the ancient city walls, but Datong is a large city, so getting around by car or taxi is convenient!

This stay would have been absolutely perfect if it weren't for the 3.5x price hike during Golden Week. Of course, setting aside peak tourist season and my own bad luck, I was genuinely thrilled with this hotel. First off, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We received a welcome gift upon arrival and a small souvenir when we checked out. They also offered coffee and a late-night snack service, and even included access to the 4th-floor gym (unfortunately, we had to leave too early on our last day to try it out). Basically, they thought of everything a guest might need. The coffee shop on the ground floor has a really charming ambiance; I even saw a foreign guest enthusiastically typing away on their laptop, which really conveyed the comfortable atmosphere. The staff's recommendations for nearby shops and eateries also showed their love and pride for the local area. And indeed, turning right outside the hotel revealed a plethora of fruit and breakfast shops. Of course, if you're willing to venture to Sunji Baozi near Taiyangcheng, that's also a great option! Back to the room: it was incredibly spacious and newly renovated! The pillows and mattress were firm enough for a very comfortable rest, and the bed was huge! The shower had a thoughtful curtain, the water pressure was strong, and the hairdryer was super powerful. I particularly loved the scent in the bathroom; it smelled very natural, not artificial at all! Could I buy some of that scent, by any chance? The reusable slippers provided were excellent. The rubber sole design clearly considered the hotel environment – no wonder the packaging said you could take them if you liked them! I was genuinely tempted! The only minor flaw was the lack of a refrigerator in the room, perhaps because Datong's weather doesn't really require one… In terms of location, it's right by the ancient city. It's walking distance to both the tourist shuttle and the ancient city itself, though it might be a bit much if you're tired and feel like taking a taxi. For dining, it's very close to several popular restaurants, though we didn't get to experience any during Golden Week. All in all, this is definitely a hotel I would recommend to friends!

This was my first time in Datong, and I chose the highly anticipated Ji Xiashan. Its location is excellent, right within the ancient city – a tranquil oasis amidst the bustle, making it super convenient to get anywhere. The Southeast Yi district is just a short walk downstairs. The butler group was well-prepared a day in advance, and their responses were prompt with great service. The rooms are quiet and private with good soundproofing; you need to pass through two security doors to get back to your room. Most importantly, the hotel is truly beautiful, with a scenic view at every turn. The rooms are also spacious and comfortable. I'll definitely choose Ji Xiashan again next time. The breakfast was among the best I've had at a guesthouse/boutique hotel; it's semi-buffet style, and while the variety isn't massive, it has all the essentials. I had poured myself a bowl of congee and set it aside, and before I even noticed, one of the staff members brought me a spoon – attention to detail, 100%!

We had an amazing stay and would highly recommend this hotel! The location is perfect for exploring the city center on foot. The hotel is brand new while beautifully preserving a traditional Chinese style, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. They went above and beyond to meet all of our needs and even welcomed us with a lovely afternoon snack, which was a very thoughtful touch. The breakfast was delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine with a wide variety of choices. We especially appreciated how seriously they take food allergies and dietary requirements, something that is unfortunately not common everywhere. Their attention to detail and willingness to accommodate every request made us feel truly cared for. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely come back on our next visit!

This stay was absolutely fantastic! The guesthouse is located in a quiet and peaceful area, far from the hustle and bustle, so I slept incredibly well at night. The room was spotlessly clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and every corner was well-maintained with great attention to detail. The host was incredibly thoughtful and warm; before check-in, they patiently provided directions and important information, and responded promptly to any requests. They also thoughtfully recommended great places to visit nearby. They were truly responsible and welcoming! Both the elderly and children in our group were very satisfied! It’s our top choice for accommodation when traveling, and we'll definitely choose to stay here again next time. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Extremely happy with my stay here! Room is very spacious and clean, and I was within walking distance to most of the attractions and restaurants. The staff here are very friendly and they always went out of their way to make my experience in Datong memorable! I'm especially grateful because the manager showed me how to order food from local restaurants using my phone and get it delivered straight to my room! 10/10!!

The hotel has very spacious and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is only Chinese, but rich and plentiful. We can't comment on the location because we always took taxis to the attractions around Datong (the wooden pagoda, hanging monasteries, and the Yungang Grottoes), but right next to the hotel are plenty of restaurants and places to grab a quick bite. The staff seemed helpful, but no one spoke English, so we had to use a translation app, which wasn't always accurate, and communication was somewhat hampered.
