GGuest UserThe owner was super nice, took the initiative to give recommendations on what to eat and where to visit. The room I was staying in had Nintendo-themed decorations, super cute and super clean. I was able to check in early around 8 am.

MMethilanI spent nearly a week at Datong Milan/Magnolia Hotel (Dai Residence branch) and it was a very pleasant and enjoyable stay
Location:
- Nestled a quieter part of the ancient city, that provided a peaceful retreat after each day of exploring.
- 10 minutes to some of the attractions of the old town
- 15-20 minute walk to the popular restaurants and more attractions
- 30 minute walk to Huayan Temple and its nearby street markets.
I'm always happy to walk but if needed, I could always use DiDi to take me around.
Falling asleep without street noise is something I like. There is a bit of building work going nearby, which is happening all over Datong Ancient City, but nothing too major.
Nearby is the Ancient City's wall, but walk past that and you can see the locals dance in the morning in the park or walk along the canal/moat in the evening.
Room:
The room was surprisingly spacious, offering plenty of room to spread out and relax, a welcome change from cramped city accommodations. The staircase is a bit narrow, so those with lots of big luggage might struggle (no lift)
Importantly, it was very clean and well equipped. I especially liked the Chinese tea ceremony set!
Service:
- Despite a noticeable language barrier, everyone went above and beyond with smiles, helpful gestures, and clear efforts to communicate.
- Especially the manager, who told me about local food to try, things to do and asked if I needed anything. She noticed that I was bringing back leftovers from the restaurant, and bottled drinks from the shops, and said I could use the fridge.
- I can't speak Chinese so when the delivery driver came to drop off my order, the staff will take it from the reception and bring it to me.
- Unfortunately, breakfast isn't available here
- Drinking water topped up. Humidifier and mosquito repellent were provided when needed.
I will not hesitate to book here again on my next visit and I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking comfort and genuine warmth in Datong!

GGuest UserParking is in the residential area behind, and it takes a long detour, which is inconvenient. The review is extremely misleading and deceptive. Please be honest in the future and refrain from misleading and irresponsible reviews. It says it's a few minutes' walk to the ancient city, about a ten-minute walk to the Datong Ancient City Wall, and another twenty minutes to the busiest area of Datong Ancient City. A taxi fare is about ten yuan. Please use your discretion.

AAnonymous UserThe location is good. 10 minutes to the old town and 30 minutes to the caves. The hotel is near the bus station. The lady at the reception was very friendly. The bed is comfortable. The first room we got had a big brown dirt/ spot on the carpet. Fortunately we got another room. The second room was clean but smelled very strongly of smoke at night. Sleeping with the window open was noisy due to the street. It was okay for the price and only for one night.

JJames56It was a pleasant surprise to see such a bright and cheerful room, so close to the train station and a shopping mall and hypermarket. The lady at the reception was very helpful and pleasant. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom has very good shower and drainage. The best we have seen! On top of that, we were allowed to do our laundry for free! Transport was convenient. Lots of buses around and easy to visit the tourist attractions. Highly recommend this hotel!

TTamy MyWorldAroundThe location is just ok, i haven't done so much turism there but ia a bit far from the center, the capsule is very good and they clean everything everyday. There's no stuff there so I had to ask for help to a guy just walking through the street to get in as I needed a code and they weren't answering me throw the app, tried to call them but hunged up when I talked in English.. but a part from that everything was good!

DdavidetravelsWe stayed in a clean modern apartment in a high-rise building. Everything worked as expected. We had a good view towards the south suburban area of the city, but just outside the apartment next to the elevators, we could get a good view on the city center — especially nice at night when the city is lit up. The staff at the reception (located in a restaurant just outside the apartment building) was kind and helpful not only with managing the reservation itself but also helping contact a tourist attraction. We had dinner at the restaurant where the reception is, and can recommend that too, both for great local taste and very cheap prices.

VVSTWe enjoyed our three nights stay in this hotel. Quiet and clean except for some not so pleasant smell from the bathroom. The staff are very friendly, helpful and responsive. This includes the free pickup transport driver, the front desk staff and the janitors as well. The breakfast provided by the hotel was so delicious and nutritious, too. We enjoyed the three mornings breakfast with different menu for three consecutive days. The chef and his wife were also very cheerful to see us enjoy their cooking. 👍👍👍👍👍
This hotel is located near to Datong South Railway Station. If you are using the public bus, there are five buses passing through :#68,#66,#61,#31,#14.
Bus #68 & #66 also go to the city. The traveling time from the hotel to the city by public bus is about ½ an hour, ticket price is 2 Yuan each. It's only 20mins by taxi, 15-20 Yuan.
