Mountain View Hotels in Datong

*The staff are nice to accomodate us. *The place is close to the scenic spot (few minutes by car). *The breakfast is not too bad. Few choices but it will fill you up.No drinks (juice or coffee). *The accomodation was nice to drop and pick us up at the scenic area.They dropped us off to the bus station going to Datong city. *Problem was the bad odour coming from the toilet. We think it’s from the drainage. We can’t even open the door for few minutes for air to come in because it is freezing. It’s negative degrees. *The room was nice and comfortable. I can’t find photos or video of the interior. The size of the room is perfect. It has a long bench.Table with 1 small chair.Tv, closet, slippers,toothbrush, hair dryer,kettle and 2 bottle of water. *Last picture was epic:)

Hotel based at the foot of HengShan. You need to park in the ticket buying area (cannot park directly at hotel) staff called beforehand to tell me this and arrange collection at the car park ~ Very helpful staff who collected me from the entrance and took me back to my car after A lovely hotel room with a comfy bed Awesome shower! Beautifully decorated. Shop and restaurant in the hotel as it is the only thing at the base of the mountain. Staff were accommodating of my dietary requirements. Very convenient to step out and begin the hike immediately! Some tea and coffee in the room and perhaps a fridge would have made it even better 😊

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. There is quite a bit to see around Lingqiu, and I should have stayed one extra night or two. Miss Liu (刘小姐), the front receptionist, was extremely helpful, even going all the way to accompany me to the bus stop to catch the bus heading to the Pingxingguan Battle site. Miss Liu also assisted with booking a cab for my visit to the Jueshan Pagoda. This famous Pagoda was founded before England was established by William the Conqueror (if I am wrong, then pardon me, but the Pagoda was built sometime before 1077 A.D. during the Northern Wei Dynasty). Miss Liu also directed me to the gravesite of King Wu of the Northern Wei Dynasty which is right in downtown Lingqiu. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of this hotel. One restaurant, next door to the right of the hotel, serves a wondering braised fish; the other a few doors away, sells delicious meat pies. My room was professionally cleaned and serviced daily. The hotel even allows me to doze off on the reception floor sofa to await my night train to Beijing. I will return to this hotel if I return to Lingqiu.

The hotel far exceeded my expectations! The location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town. All the main attractions are within walking distance, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. The hotel itself is newly renovated, clean, and well-maintained. The bed in the room was incredibly comfortable, and all the facilities were complete and of good quality – no compromises here. It was lovely to sit by the window with a cup of tea, watching the relaxed pace of life in the ancient city. There's also a parking lot in the back, which is great if you're driving. This hotel is definitely my top choice for visiting Hengshan or exploring the old town.

The rooms weren't large, but the cleanliness was acceptable, and the hot water was adequate. The mountain view rooms offered views of distant mountains. It wasn't far from the Hanging Temple, but you still need to drive there. Breakfast wasn't served, and there weren't any nearby; you had to drive down a street to find a breakfast shop. Also, I couldn't understand the local dialect spoken by the front desk staff, but the people from Shanxi seemed very friendly. Overall, this place seems like a relatively suitable choice, not far from the ancient city. However, if you're driving, I wouldn't recommend going unless you have your own car.

My daughter and I made plans to see a JJ Lin concert in Beijing. She mentioned the spectacular thousand-year-old wooden pagoda in nearby Datong's Yingxian County, so we decided to visit Datong. When we booked a hotel, we found a fantastic deal, so we booked five nights, only arriving in Beijing for one. Once we arrived, we discovered Datong is truly a gem. The temperature was a comfortable 20 degrees Celsius, and the attractions were breathtaking, from the natural wonders—the earth forests and volcanic clusters—to the cultural and historical attractions—the Yungang Grottoes, the Datong Museum, the Hanging Temple, the wooden pagoda, and the Huayan Temple. I highly recommend this B&B. It's clean, the service is excellent, and the location is fantastic. In the morning, when I opened the curtains, I could see the sunrise over the mountains—a breathtaking view. It's also conveniently located near the train station, just a 10-minute bike ride to the ancient city. The shopping mall is just around the corner, and the famous Long Juxiang is right there—delicious food with no lines. The best part is, I expected the proximity to the train station to be noisy, but it was incredibly quiet. Otherwise, I would have stayed a few more days to catch the concert in Beijing. Datong was the main attraction of this concert trip, and the concert itself took a back seat. I was so happy!

Facilities: Newly renovated, new facilities, no odor Sanitation: Clean and tidy Environment: In a village, there will be dirt on the road into the village, but it is clean and tidy when you enter the hotel. There is a self-provided backyard parking lot. Service: OK. It was a temporary decision to visit the Hanging Temple Hengshan the next day, so I decided to stay nearby for convenience the next morning. I didn’t choose much when I looked at the hotel on the platform, thinking that the newly opened ones should have better facilities. When I checked in at the hotel front desk, I was told that I had upgraded the room type to a higher floor. Although the room is not big, it is small but complete, and it is convenient to stay for one night and the next day. The village is quiet and restful at night, and the breakfast is basically satisfactory, with coarse grains, staple food, protein, fruits and vegetables, and yogurt.

The hotel is located right by the roadside. It's a budget hotel, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming, leaving a lasting impression. Our stay was a pleasant surprise, far exceeding our expectations. From the moment we entered the lobby, the staff's friendly smiles and efficient, professional service impressed us. The rooms were elegantly designed, the bedding was very comfortable, and the bathroom featured a separate shower and toilet with ample water pressure – every detail reflected a commitment to quality. The hotel's meticulous service was particularly commendable: upon learning we were traveling by car, they proactively offered suggestions on nearby transportation. This provided a perfect way to relax after a long journey. The excellent location, comprehensive facilities, and personalized service complemented each other perfectly, making for a comfortable and pleasant stay. It wasn't just a place to rest during our trip, but also a part of a wonderful memory. This will definitely be our top choice for our next visit, and we will highly recommend it to our friends and family!

The location of the hotel is perfect. It is the right place to stay when visiting the Hanging Temple and Jin Temple. The room and bed are large, especially suitable for bringing children. It is no problem for a family of three to stay in a big bed. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is also very good. Overall, it is very cost-effective.

Let me talk about the pros. The breakfast was quite plentiful and tasty, 68 yuan per person. Our child, being 15, paid an extra 40 yuan. We booked three rooms together. The rooms were decent for a five-star hotel, and the lobby was beautiful. Now for areas for improvement. Aside from the good security guard at the entrance, the service could be better. Since it's a hot spring hotel, the hot spring itself is important, but it was rather mediocre. Of the 12 pools, some were 58 degrees Celsius, some 48 degrees, and only a few were usable and small. Also, because so many people were crammed into a few pools, they became quite dirty. All three families stayed for an hour before leaving. There were too many access control points. For a hotel in such a remote area, I don't understand why there were so many access control points and card swiping systems; it was very inconvenient. I didn't intend to give a low score because the front desk gave us a complimentary breakfast, which was a concession.
